end of the first week

Phew I made it through my first week back at work, and yes it was tough.  I have cried and spent most of the week missing the girls but now its the weekend and I can spend two whole days with them.  I am looking forward to it!  I am going to make every second count.

My girls are with their Grandma today and I feel a lot more at ease when they are there.  I find it easier to concentrate and get work things done.  I still miss them but its a lot easier.  I feel ever so lucky that the girls have such a close bond with my Mum and my Dad and that they are able to help look after them when I am at work.

I also had some good news today and that is that I have paid of my student loan, in fact I have overpaid it and am due some money back.  It is a great relief to have finally paid it off.  I set myself a target of paying it off by the time I was 30 and its great to have achieved it.

I am awaiting my girls coming home from my parents house and I cannot wait for a cuddle to mark the end of the first week back at work.

  2. Aww I remember that feeling well as I had to leave S when he was 6months old to return to work. However, the nursery he went to was fab and he did so much there and had lots of fun. These are all good experiences for children and like you I then tended to give so much over the weekend to make up for lost time. Im sure us mums feel much worse than the children ever do xxx

    1. I think we do too. I know its good for the girls and they are well cared for at nursery but I still feel like I am missing out on being with them and I just miss them so much

  4. I feel your pain. I returned to work part time after having my first and I too was lucky that it was with someone whom he had a lovely close bond, my mum. It did make it slightly easier. But nothing takes away the guilt of going to work and leaving them does. It does get better over time. I eventually came to quite like been a grown up for a few days a week ;)
Good luck for this week. And think of their little faces when you turn up to collect them. It makes it all worth while :)
