A Gruffalo Hunt

It is no secret my girls love the Gruffalo, you only have to follow my Instagram feed to see that.  I saw online that the Forestry commission had opened up their Gruffalo trails and I knew I had to take the girls.  I searched online and discovered that some of the trails have a Gruffalo statue, there are 15 in total, and I wanted to find one near to us.

We chose Sherwood Pines and set off on our journey.  Having never been before we were not sure what to expect, we drove into the car park and parked our car.  There was a charge of £2 for parking but there were plenty of spaces.  I was amazed at how big it was.  It was clearly busy but yet it handled it very well.  The girls immediately began exploring.

We bought each girl an activity bag from the Rangers station and began our Gruffalo adventure.

The girls ran around the forest looking for Gruffalo, mouse, fox, owl and snake.  There were letters hidden on some of the signs and my eldest daughter wrote them down on the activity sheet.  They loved exploring and finding Gruffalo dens.

But then in the distance we spotted something,

He had terrible tusks and terrible claws, and terrible teeth in his terrible jaws

He had knobbly knees and turned out toes

A poisonous wart at the end of his nose

His eyes were orange and his tongue black

and purple prickles all over his back

Oh help! Oh no! we found a Gruffalo

But we were the scariest creatures in the woods and the Gruffalo was scared of us

We had a lovely time exploring Sherwood Pines and searching for a Gruffalo.  It made for a perfect Autumn day walking through the leaves and exploring the woods, best of all it was free to do so!  The girls had a really wonderful time and my daughter took the activity pack into school for show and tell.

The girls had so much fun Gruffalo hunting that when we came home they had the story for bed time, well we had to really.

This day I love A Gruffalo Hunt
