Review : The lavender blue dress
The Lavender Blue dress is a new children's picture book, written in rhyme by Aidan Moffat (acclaimed singer/songwriter for the band Arab Strap) and illustrated by Emmeline Pidgen (award winning graphic artist). The story follows a young girl, Mabel, who feels down because she never has a new dress to the Christmas ball.
Mabel dreams of a dress in Lavender Blue. She draws pictures and it is what she desires to wear for the ball. To her though it is just a dream, or is it. This is a beautiful book that looks at the wishes of one girl and helps to refocus the mind on what truly matters.
My youngest is a huge fan of this book and often brings it to me to read. She loves the light coloured illustrations which bring the story to life and I particularly like the positive message behind the story. This is a truly lovely read.
The Hardbook book also features a little surprise inside the cover sleeve. You are able to cut out a Mabel doll and clothes to dress her up. This is a great way to play along with the story and encourage children to use their imagination.
I am giving away a copy of the Lavender Blue dress. Entry is open to UK residents and is via the Rafflecopter below. Giveaway closes on 26th October 2014 at Midnight. Full t&c on widget Good luck

I have a lovely red satin dress that I like to wear at Christmas - it is really pretty and I wear it with gold heeled sandals! I only wear it around Christmas or New year!
