At last the sun!

It is no exaggeration that it has rained almost constantly for the past two weeks, but today saw a change in the weather.  Whilst it was still cloudy and grey the weather seemed to take a break, replaced with a muggy feel but nevertheless it was dry.  I wanted to take advantage of this, and also spend a bit of time with my youngest.

We have been stuck in the house for far too long so I picked her up from school and we headed to the bakers for a sandwich.  Our sandwiches in hand we headed over to the local park for a picnic and a play.  I found out recently that 10% of children have not stepped foot in a natural environment (beach, park, Forest etc.) in the last 12 months and I thought this a rather upsetting statistic.

My youngest daughter loved this surprise, and was over the moon when I told her we could stay for as long as she wanted at the park.  In fact we stayed all afternoon until it was time to pick up her sister from school.

My youngest loved that she had the freedom to run around and explore.  Little man stayed asleep so I got to spend some quality time with her, pushing her on the swings, playing on the see saw and sliding down the slide.  We also had a game of tag.  Before picking up her sister we decided to have a little walk and an explore through the fields and to find a spot to sit and have a snack.

We stopped to refuel with some #getcoated butterkist popcorn before setting off on our journey once more.

It was a really wonderful afternoon with my youngest daughter.  Such a simple way to spend a few hours outside but one my daughter loved and enjoyed.

This day I love at last the sun
