A weekend of community spirit

Saturday started like any other Saturday, with parkrun.  Only this parkrun was extra special, running club had taken over all the volunteer roles.  I was asked to capture the day as it happened and what an amazing honour it was to be asked.  Any chance for me to improve my photography skills and I will take it.

It was a little strange for me not been at my usual parkrun, but at the same time was great to be out supporting running club.  I still recognised plenty of faces, and who knows one day I may go back to run it!  As it was it was amazing to see so much support, and we joked there were probably more people volunteering that week than trees in the park!

Parkrun was just the start of our Sunday morning, as we then headed over to Cudworth for their tea in the park afternoon.  What a lovely afternoon of traditional fun.  everything from bouncy castles, to guess the name of the bear.  Brass bands playing, slushie machines and of course ice cream!

Whilst in Cudworth we opted to take part in the FREE Summer long acitivty.  From the 19th June to 30th September 2017, 9 Bright and colourful bunnies are hiding in 9 shop windows in Cudworth. Visit a Bunny Stop to pick up your free map then follow the trail and visit each shop to pick up your stickers. Collect all 9 stickers and then visit Wishes of Cudworth to collect your free treat bag. Full details can be found at cudworthbunnytrail.co.uk

After collecting our map we made our way on the main Cudworth high street looking for the bunny in the window.  Some were very easy to spot, and some were hiding very well.

As we walked down the street we discovered new shops we had no idea existed.  The kids grew more excited as the trail continued, eagerly looking for the bunny.  As time progressed they grew in confidence in entering the shops to ask for their sticker.  Such a wonderful idea to encourage people to visit local shops and bring communities together.  One they had completed the bunny hunt they received a reward!

After an action packed Saturday, Sunday was race day.  The Toss O coin race in Holmfirth.  One thing I know about that area is it is hilly!  I promised a friend I would stay with her for the race and I keep my word.

It was unbelievably hilly! We started off with an uphill run to reach the ridge you can see on the photo above.  Then up and down windy tracks before finishing back at the start.  Incredibly beautiful and such an amazing course.  I ran in road shoes even though the vast majority was off road, and I would go back to do it again.

It might not have been fast but it was ever so pretty!  Even better I got to spend some time with an amazing group of ladies and I kept my word to a friend.  Cannot wait to tackle the Toss O coin again!

This day I love a weekend of community spirit
