This day I love.......

My bump with Thing 3 seems to be a lot lower than my bump with the girls.  This is making it increasingly harder to find clothes that fit.  As we draw closer to Christmas I would also like something nice to wear on Christmas day but yet I do not want to spend a fortune as this will be my last bump to dress.

I have turned to George at ASDA to help me dress my bump.  With the girls I saved a few items of maternity wear and 90% of the ones I have saved are George.  My support bands and Jeans for example are all from George.  I am missing though a few smarter items.  By this I mean items of clothing suitable for Christmas, New Years and in case I get invited out.  With this in mind I put together a Pinterest board of Maternity wear for Christmas.

Follow Thisdayilove's board maternity wear Christmas on Pinterest.

One of the things I love about George maternity wear is that it lasts.  I am still wearing clothes I bought from my first pregnancy nearly 6 years ago.  It is good quality and at a great price.  George also offer a full range, everything from PJ to smart work clothes and Christmas outfits.

For Christmas this year I have opted for some Skinny jeans from George.  They have a support band and a good elastic stretch meaning I can eat my Christmas dinner and not feel uncomfortable in my jeans.  I have also decided upon a festive Christmas jumper,  I do not want to miss out on the Christmas jumper fun and thankfully I have had a few designs to choose from.

George also have a great range to dress my bump for a New Years eve party.  I have decided to wear the same skinny jeans but this time dress them up with a different top.  I could as easily have chosen one of the beautiful dresses on offer but I feel much more comfortable in trousers.  I do think though that the most likely outfit for me on New Years eve will be a pair of stylish George PJ!

How will you be dressing your Bump over the festive period?

My youngest daughter loves imaginative tea parties. I spend most of my time drinking pretend cups of tea and she loves having a tea party for her dolls and for me. I love this imagination and role play from her and its a lovely way to interact with her.

For her tea parties she also serves pretend cake and biscuits, well no tea party would be complete without one. I am guessing if she understood what afternoon tea looked like she would also serve this, well she serves the individual components at the least. Her current method of transportation for her tea party is using her babies pushchair. She stacks everything inside and pushes it to where we are sitting. Alternatively she uses a tray but she reminds me of the waitress from Acorn Antiques as she does so.

During my hunt for Christmas presents for her I have come across a beautiful wooden tea trolley from George Asda. The tea trolley comes flat pack but is quick and easy to assemble. The trolley has two levels making it perfect for both the biscuits and the tea and there is plenty of room for everything, meaning the pushchair stays for the babies who can now attend the tea party.

I love the antique feel to the tea trolley. It is finished in a cream and white paint with small cherries painted on the front. The curves and details to the wood give it a beautiful finish. The tea trolley handle is not adjustable but is at a great height for my youngest daughter who is just over a metre tall. The trolley is easy to push even when fully loaded with everything needed for her tea party, although we do have wooden floors so cannot say what it is like over carpets.

The wooden tea trolley is sturdy and well built and sure to last for many more tea parties.

The tea trolley was sent in exchange for review, all words are my own opinion.

On our recent holiday to Portugal the girls took 4 new books with them and one of their favourite books. We read a book every night and so we wanted to take enough to cover all night time reading but not pack too many. Here are the books the girls took:

Hedgehugs - Horace and Hattiepillar

This book has a certain cuteness to it. Horace had Hattie are the best of friends who do everything together. You can't help but fall in love with them as you read the story. The illustrations are beautiful and it is such a gorgeous book to look at. The girls love the story, which follows the transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly, with an added colourful twist. This is one of those books the girls like to cuddle up and listen to so is perfect for bed time

A gold star for George

The girls like this book as it helps them to see their reward chart, and why they get their stickers. They like George and the other characters in the book and seem to relate to them. Particularly with the girls at school and nursery they are beginning to see the importance and value of friendship. The book helps to reinforce the importance of helping others which is great for these early school years.

Pirates don't drive diggers

2 things the girls love are pirates and diggers, which makes this book perfect. The book has a lovely rhyme to the story which often grabs the attention of my girls. We can tell it was written by the same author as my youngest favourite book, as she has really taken to the story.

A box of socks

This is a follow on story from a scarf and a half. The illustrations are the same which adds continuity so the girls can relate to the characters. The story had the girls laughing as the characters get the wrong socks and they do look rather funny.

yuk said the yack

If you ever hear my youngest saying 'eggs, or peas or cheese' she is talking about yuk and yack. She simply loves this book and she talks often about Alfie as if he is her friend. It was a book we had to take with us on holiday, in fact she takes it pretty much everywhere.

the girls holiday reading

Thanks to Maverick books for sending the girls such lovely books for their holiday.

With Christmas just around the corner, I have got myself organised (well sort of) and almost finished my Christmas shopping. I thought I would give you a sneak peak at what I have got the girls for Christmas.

The first thing on the girls wish list was a dolls house and a fairy castle. I do love wooden toys, there is something about them. I decided to look around for a good quality and reasonably priced dolls house and fairy castle. I came across George (Asda) wooden toy collection and was simply taken away. Every item was beautiful.

A member of the family has very kindly got them the dolls house and furniture, they look simply stunning and if the quality is the same as the two items I have got for the girls are going to love them. I have got the girls the princess castle, which to me is the same as a fairy castle, and a pirate ship.

The wooden pirate ship is really easy to put together, it slots together like a jigsaw but is much more sturdy. It comes with 2 pirate figures, 2 cannons and a treasure chest as well as the boat. Given it is priced at £25 I think this is a bargain! I love the details on the sails and that each part of the pirate boat is easily accessible. Both my girls love pirates and whist this is a present for my youngest, it will be something they can play together.

Wooden pirate ship

The princess castle was easy to assemble but it was time consuming. You do need a screwdriver and there are quite a few pieces to put together. Once it is together it is very sturdy and there are so many different play options. You can access all aspects of the castle, front, sides and back and so play can take on many forms. The windows and the doors open and there is plenty of space on the balconies for play here too. The details on the castle are beautiful, butterflies and flowers. A piece which is sure to last the girls for years to come.

Princess Castle

I cannot wait to see the girls faces on Christmas when they open the pirate ship and castle. I also cannot wait to play with them with it and watch the magical stories unfold.

We were provided with the Pirate ship and fairy castle to review.  All words are my own opinion.

The temperature seems to have dropped quite a bit recently.  It is starting to feel colder at night and even more first thing in the morning.  Getting up and walking downstairs in the cold, having breakfast in the cold kitchen I decided to look for something to keep me and the girls warm.

Yesterday my youngest and I was doing our weekly food shop in Asda and we decided to take a look at the night wear range in George.  I could not believe the amount of onesies they had.  They stocked everything from character to Christmas, plain to patterned.  I was a little over whelmed by the choice.

I had a good look at all the onesies they had but could not make up my mind.  I have narrowed it down to 2 for me, 2 for the girls and wondered if you could help me decide?

So for my self I am thinking between these

With us just getting a spotty dog we are a little spotty dog crazy in this house at the moment, so the dog print really stood out to me.  The other onesie is made of fleece so would keep me warmer and I think is a more subtle print.

For my eldest

She loves Disney Princess and has the bedding which matches this onesie.  She also loves Doc McStuffins and I love the accessory which comes with this onsie, making it a little different.

For my youngest

My youngest loves Hello Kitty and Minnie Mouse.  The Hello Kitty ones look more like PJ to me but I think she would prefer the Minnie Mouse print

I also really like this onesie for both girls for Christmas

I think they will look rather cute in this opening up their presents together on Christmas morning.

So which Onsies should I get?  I would love to know what you think, as I really cannot decide.

The sun is finally here and that means my eldest finally gets to wear all those lovely summer dresses she has been longing to wear all winter.  There are some really beautiful styles for girls at the moment, and some even my fussy youngest will wear

girls in their summer dresses

Downtime Denim This summer the shops are full of great denim dresses and pinafores for dressing down and playing in the garden or for teaming with colourful accessories for a more dressed up and individual feel.  Most of the girls’ dresses around at the moment come in a light, summery denim that’ll keep the girls cool when the temperature starts to soar.

Character dresses In our house my eldest loves Frozen and Disney Princess whereas my youngest loves Minnie Mouse and Hello Kitty.  Whatever the character be it the popular Peppa Pig or a traditional Disney character there are some beautiful prints around to suit every taste.

Party Time! With my eldest having a summer birthday we get to look at beautiful summer dresses suitable for a party.  There also seems to be a lot of parties to attend this summer ranging from soft play to visiting the farm and we need a variety of dresses to match every occasion.  Thankfully  George girls’ dresses are simply beautiful and there is such a wide variety available.

Whatever look your little girl goes for, her summer dresses will be the hardest working and best-loved items in her wardrobe this season.

Tomorrow marks a very special 1st Birthday, Prince George turns 1.  As we remember he was carried home in a Britax car seat and to celebrate Britax have a competition to win a car seat of your choice.  It is very easy to enter.  All you need to do is make a crown and add the photo to Britax Facebook page.  [Full terms and conditions can be found on their Facebook page].

Britax have made things easy by providing a template which can be downloaded from here.

We downloaded our crown and got busy sticking and painting to create our masterpieces.

The girls had a lot of fun with creating their crowns.  It gave them the chance to cut out their own shapes from felt, play with the feathers and the pompoms and get sticky with glue.  I have glitter all over the house!  After they had finished they admired each others work

Before finally standing still for a pretty princess photo

We had a lot of fun making our crowns, I cannot wait to see what you create

OK before anyone asks no I am not having another baby.  I do however know a lot of Mums to be and at one time also fitted into this category.  When I was pregnant with my eldest there wasn't a lot of choice for maternity wear.  I didn't want to spend a lot of money on maternity wear, after all for me it was 9 months of wear but I also wanted things to last, as who knows what the future holds.  It was important for me that my maternity wear was comfortable, practical and had the ability to mix and match for work and non work wear.  I stumbled across George Maternity wear and instantly became a fan.

George Maternity wear ticked the boxes I was looking for, it was affordable, good quality and comfortable.  One of my favourite pieces, which I cannot find on the website, was the bump band.  This band meant that during my early pregnancy I could continue to wear my normal trousers with the button undone.  I would simply wear the band over the top to hide the open button.  In later pregnancy I wore the band the provide support for my growing bump and to help when my top didn't quite cover my bump.

Looking through George I have picked some of my favourite pieces

Whilst I am not much of a dress wearer I do like to have a few pieces in my collection.  I always have a black dress as they are suitable for any occasion and never date.  George has some great choices.  I also really like the print on this dress and think it would be perfect for those pregnant in the summer to keep cool, something thankfully I did not have to deal with.

I live in jeans and a comfy pair of jeans is one of my must have buys.  I preferred under bump fitting but know others prefer over bump, thankfully George caters for both.  The great thing about jeans is they can be dressed up with a nice top or dressed down with a nice but more casual top.  The provide great versatility.

The smarted top when combined with jeans gives a casual look but yet when combined with black trousers can give a smarter look suitable for work.  It is great to create quick and simple looks with just a few pieces.

Whatever your style was before pregnancy George can help you maintain it during pregnancy, with a wide range of clothes and styles to suit every taste.  Comfortable and affordable maternity wear, I know I used to wear it!

This post was written in collaboration with George.  All words and opinions are my own.  Images are from George website.

The girls and I have a real love for the outdoors.  We would love to spend all day out in our garden and as the warmer weather approaches I am hoping we will be able to do this.  Our garden at the moment is still going through a few changes, you can read about some of them in the BIG project I did last year.  There are still a few items I would love to add so that I could transfer our family hub, the kitchen, into the outdoors for the summer.

Seating area

I would love to create a family seating area on our decking.  I want something that we could eat our dinner from but yet relax in and watch the birds in our garden [or the squirrels!].  Ideally I would love something that was practical to keep clean but yet also looked nice.  I really love the olive colours and think it would go perfect in our garden with all of our trees.

Something for the girls

Our garden has been designed for the girls to explore and play in.  Yet I have struggled to find any garden furniture designed just for them.  I love this Sand Picnic table.  The girls would get so much enjoyment from playing in the sand and afterwards they could use it as a picnic table.  This is rather clever as it combines garden furniture and somewhere for the girls to play, maximising the available space in the garden.

Food

Our current hub in the house is the kitchen.  The girls do a lot of messy play in here and it is where we eat our food.  As a family we also enjoy baking so our kitchen is a much loved central part of the house.  As the weather gets warmer I would love to be able to cook more outdoors and spend the same quality time together outside.  I would love a BBQ like this as I think it is more in keeping with our garden.

Evening

Although the days are getting longer it is still a little cold outside.  I am worried about putting a gas fire burner or an open fire burner in the garden, for fear the dog or one of the girls would get hurt.  I was however drawn to this fire burner with its stars and moon patterns.  I think it would bring together both the adult and child parts of the garden together.  Creating heat as the evening gets cooler and allowing us to stay outdoors for longer.

As the night falls I would love to be able to look out through the bedroom window at these butterfly light.  They would add an element of magic into the garden that the girls would really love

I am looking forward to the summer months to spend them outside in our garden.  What would be on your garden wish list?
