This day I love.......

Yesterday my youngest and I had a really lovely day together.  We had lunch out together and afterwards had a cake which was more cream than anything else, my youngest loved it.

Today however has been a completely different story.  She has been really upset all day, won't let me anywhere near her and has refused to come out the pushchair.  She has been complaining that her neck and ears really hurt and has even said that she cannot walk.

I took her to the Dr, which showed all her vital stats are normal.  Temp, blood pressure etc and her chest is clear.  The Dr told me that he thought she was simply throwing a 2 year old tantrum and expressing her desire not to go to nursery by pretending to be ill.  He told me that there is medically nothing wrong with her.

As her Mum I disagree.  I do not think at the age of 2 she has the ability to do this for so long.  She has been off it all day and refused chocolate.  In fact the only thing she wants to eat is ice cream.  I wonder if she is getting a sore throat?

I hope she feels better tomorrow, I do not like to see her poorly

Not the best start to the 2014 Project 365.  I am already late on the first weeks.  Hopefully this round up will explain why

Week 2

out for winter walkhotel viewlooking at you

We took a lovely winter walk to get some fresh air.  My eldest loves exploring all the muddy paths and my youngest always has a good nap when we are out.  The girls and I were taking pictures with the wooden play camera.  I liked the pattern through the play lens and decided to take a picture with my camera through the lens, I thought it was a good image.  I had to go away again for work, what a view from the hotel room.

Ok so I didn't take this photo but it is my favourite from the day.  Works conference was a lot of fun, although the car parking charges were not so much fun!

eating dinnerfast asleep

By the time I had got home from work the girls were asleep, it was very late.  I took the girls out for dinner after swimming on the Saturday.  My eldest really loved my curry!

Week 3

full of coldsunday lunchsleep

We went out for Sunday lunch, and I could not believe the size of the children's portions.  Neither girl ate very much and neither did I, we were all feeling under the weather.  Monday the dreaded cold struck.  The girls and I spent the day in bed, thankfully my Mum came to help.  The virus stayed put all week and we spent the week in bed.

sisters holding handswatching filmscheeky face

The girls felt better on Wednesday, although I still felt rough.  We watched rather a lot of DVDs but that also meant we had lots of cuddles.  I lost my voice on Thursday and the girls took full advantage, yes that is a cheeky face.  I managed to drive for the first time during the week and picked the girls up from nursery.  I loved it when we got home and turned round to see them holding hands.

shopping

I got rather annoyed with the supermarket only having trolleys with single seats, this meant my eldest had to sit in the trolley with the shopping.  She did not seem to mind and kept putting the shopping round her and building a den.

Week 4

jumping in mudplaying in boxesindoor picnic

I was starting to feel a little crazy sat in the house so decided to get some fresh air with the girls.  My eldest had lots of fun jumping in the muddy puddles.  Watching her play really cheered me up and made me feel better.  The girls had an in door picnic after nursery on Monday and spent Tuesday evening playing in a large card board box!

playing nicethe doglook at those eyes

I figured I should probably take a picture of the dog.  This was the look of my youngest in her I 'don't want to go to nursery'.  The girls spent some time playing together which is always lovely to watch.

bird watching

We took part in the RSPB bird watch survey and my eldest took great pride in marking off the birds as we saw them.

Both girls are poorly at the moment.  They have high temperatures and runny noses.  Both generally unsettled.  This means I am awake pretty much 24/7 with one or both of them.  My eldest never naps during the day and has not done since she was around 6 months old, even prior to this she would cat nap.  I know when she is ill because she falls asleep in random places:

sleep whilst cleaning

sleep and lunch

She fell asleep standing up in a door way too but I had to move her because I did not want her to fall and hurt herself so did not take a photo.

This day I love falling asleep

The girls are no better today, my eldest in fact has got worse.  I spoke to the Dr and they can do nothing more than I am doing already so its plenty of cream, cuddles and kisses to help make her feel better.  My youngest is feeling brighter, but she has moments that I can tell she is not well. I think the younger they are the more they seem to just get on with it.

cream face

We have had a chill day today at home, to try and let the girls relax a little.  We have spent our day cuddling on the sofa or on my bed watching DVDs.  When the girls had a little bit of energy and wanted to play we would play with their toys and look through books.  It did not last long though.

My eldest even asked to go for a sleep this afternoon and that never happens.

afternoon nap

Each took it in turns for a nap, which was nice because then I got some one on one time with each of my daughters.  I got about 20 minutes when they both were asleep at the same time and got a few chores done in this time.

I do love to have cuddles and kisses with my girls, I am hoping that they feel better soon.

This day I love cream, cuddles and kisses.

This post marks my 100th post.  I really wanted to do something special to mark the occasion, unfortunately both girls are very ill.  So much so that we had to cancel the birthday party we should have gone to today, and I have had to send emails to all the groups we should be attending over the next week to cancel, as we won't be able to go.  I am not looking forward to calling nursery tomorrow but that's life with small children.

Instead with the weather nice I took the girls for a walk next to the stream in the village.  I wrapped them up warm and hoped that the fresh air would do them good.  Both girls are a little irritable at the moment and sleeping at random times so I hoped the fresh air would let them have a bit of a nap and getting out of the house I find always helps too.

My youngest fell asleep within 5 minutes of us setting off and it was not long before my eldest followed.  I know my eldest is therefore ill as she will only ever day nap when poorly.  I enjoyed the walk, it was really peaceful next to the stream and J even behaved himself.

Sleep walk

When we returned home the girls stayed asleep just long enough for me to take down the decorations.  When my oldest woke up she was so upset that we had to put the tree away and kept saying Christmas coming soon.

I spent the rest of the afternoon playing with magnetic funny faces book, by top that publishing, with the girls.  The book has a selection of blank faces on which you can stick the magnetic features.  Its really good fun and the girls like to create different animals.  It also can teach them about different features different animals have.  We have a lot of fun playing with this book and the possibility of faces to create is endless.

I am hoping my girls feel better soon as I really don't like to see them ill.  Its really hard as they don't understand why they feel like they do and sometimes struggle to express themselves.  I know it will be at least a week before we see any improvement.   I only hope I can keep them as comfortable as possible until they do recover.

This day I love the 100th.
