This day I love.......

I cannot quite believe it is October already. Where has this year gone? October really is my favourite time of the year, and the start of October also means I open up the diary ready for Christmas bookings!

The girls had lots of fun dressing up for Christmas for me and playing in the studio as I took their photos ready to open up the Christmas books. I often get asked when I do photo shoots for people where I recommend having the images printed, and so when Tesco got in touch and asked me to test out their same day photography printing service it was simply an offer I could not turn down.

I send my clients all of their images with full rights to use for non commercial purposes. Whilst I guarantee a minimum of 10 images the majority of my clients end up with a lot more than this, I think one client once had close to 80. The reason I do this is so they don't need to come back and think about which images they would like to print, and secondly because I think it is nice to be able to have the images to use as you wish.

Tesco photo offer a same day service, order before 12pm and products are ready to collect after 3pm. In my case they were ready to collect within 2 hours. The process is easy to follow. On the Tesco photo website is a selection of items available for same day. These include prints, canvas, photo blocks, framed prints, Mugs, place-mats, coasters, aluminium prints and mouse mats. Once an item has been selected you are then able to upload the image you wish to use from your device, the cloud or a whole host of social media platforms.

The ability to select photos from so many different platforms is great because often you may have an image on Instagram that you may not have else where, or you may have lost your phone and the image maybe on Facebook still. It gives a greater sense of flexibility to order personalised items.

There are even discounts and offers available on the items available for same day printing, so it is worth checking to see if the items you want have offers attached to them. Once discount codes have been applied and all items in the basket it is time to checkout. From checkout to collection you are kept informed via email of when your items are been printed and when they are ready to collect.

Items are then collected from the the selected Tesco store. Payment can be made in store or on line. I actually combined a food shop with collecting my items. It meant I felt more productive as I had to go out to Tesco anyway and this meant I had also collected the personalised items I had ordered too.

From start to finish the service was first class. The website was simple to follow and order from and then the communication to say my order was ready to collect was outstanding. I now have some items ready for Christmas presents and I can also recommend where to have personalised gifts made when a client next asks me.

Oh and in case you wonder why I like October so much, because it is just so much fun!!

I was gifted with 4 items in exchange for this post. All words are my own opinion.

The girls and I have a real love for books, so when we were recently offered the chance to have a look round the new Miles Kelly website we jumped at the chance.

The website is very simply laid out. The clean white background makes things very easy to find and the bright colours really make the website appear fun. The coloured tabs at the top allow for quick and simple navigation, whilst at the bottom of the site is a simple to use site map. The logo also has had a design upgrade and the design choice reminds me of Quentin Blake, which bring back found childhood memories.

Miles Kelly site

The kids corner is packed full of ideas with things to do for the children. Baking, colouring and challenges. Some are even themed, with a Christmas fairy over Christmas time.

I had no problems using the search facility or even finding books for the girls. I could search via topic, brand and age to help me find the right books for the girls. Each book contains a description and a chance to have a look inside the book. There are also recommendations similar to the title you have chosen. These are great features of the site making it clear to choose exactly what you needed.

I was provided with £10 Credit to place an order through the site. I selected three books for the girls and found the whole process very quick and simple. I had no issues with the ordering process and there was the added advantage of free postage and packaging to the UK. I feel I shall be shopping more with Miles Kelly as the site was very easy to use.

I suffer with eczema. As an adult however I understand my triggers, certain washing detergents, I know how to treat and I know how to prevent, my daughter however does not. At 7 weeks of age a rash appeared on her knees, arms and shoulders. I panicked, thinking the worse, and took her to the doctors. She was diagnosed with eczema. We have struggled with various emollients and steroid creams to keep it under control. For the most part it is now well controlled but we still have the odd flare up.

Prior to her diagnosis I would give her a massage after her bath before bed using baby olive oil to help her sleep and promote a bond between us. After her diagnosis I was wary to continue in fear of a reaction. However what I did do was use the emollient cream as a massage cream to continue the baby massage, which she seemed to enjoy. I would do this every morning and night.

Although an eczema sufferer myself, I still felt very alone with the treatment management for my daughter. There was a huge lack of support and advice out there, especially during times of flare ups and when you just want to know what's causing this, how can I prevent this, is this normal?

Thankfully this need for support and advise has been recognised with a new on line eczema resource from E45 and the National Eczema Society, www.eczemaadvice.co.uk.

The website provides useful information on both eczema and its treatments. There is a pdf which can be printed showing possible triggers in the home, answering the what's causing it question. A symptom diary which can be filed in allowing you to easily track your symptoms and perhaps spotting patterns in symptom severity. One of my personal favourites is the emollient reminder, as a busy Mum sometimes you think you have used the emollient only to realise you forgot later in the day.

Another great feature of the website is that it links to a Facebook page. This page allows you to share your experiences and therefore removing the feeling of loneliness and wondering if this is normal.

A section of the website I found particularly useful was the 3 steps:
  1. Apply emollient 2-3 times a day, all over the body, not just on the flare ups.
  2. Use gentle strokes in the direction of the hair growth
  3. use soap substitutions, emollient bath and emollient moisturiser.
A section of the website is dedicated to E45 to show the full range of their emollients and soap substitutes. Spink health kindly provided me a sample of the E45 Nappy cream for use with my daughter. The nappy cream is not a product to treat eczema however it does sooth and protect the skin against causes of nappy rash. The cream goes a very long way and only a little needs to be used at a time. My daughter has not experienced any problems with the cream, other nappy cream products have caused issues in the past. As she only wears nappies at night we only used the cream at night.

As a parent I am relieved that there is now a place to go to answer my questions about eczema and to know that our experiences are shared by others providing support to those in a similar situation.
