When I was younger I had a dressing up box. It contained all sorts of things for dressing up and pretend play. My daughters have a box which says on the front 'Let's pretend' and inside is a selection of clothes, wings, wands and shoes for them to use with pretend play. I add to the box as I find things to enable with their imagination and playing.
At their Grandparents house, my Mum has kept several of the items we used to use for dressing up. One of which is a box containing lots of play jewellery. My oldest loves going in the box and dressing up with rings and bracelets, my youngest normally does not go anywhere near. With her new ability to climb onto the coffee table this changed.
She climbed the table, fully under the watchful eye of Grandparents, and reached for the play jewellery box. She opened the box and her face lit up
She then proceeded to empty the box. She loved exploring the different shapes and textures of the beads. Was amazed by all the different colours and the different noises they all made. She had so much fun and I can't remember anything that has kept her sitting still for so long.
I have decided that on Monday I shall be visiting my local charity shop in order to search for some items to create our own dressing up Jewellery box.
This day I love Jewellery.
