Glasses and sugar

My eldest daughter has recently become fascinated with glasses.  I am not sure why as neither myself or my husband wear glasses, but she constantly asks me for her glasses.  I did wonder if perhaps she has problems with her eyesight, but the fact she points out aeroplanes in the sky, dogs running in fields far away and then can point out letters in books suggests that her eyes are ok.

After asking for her glasses again this morning, she then came up to me and said:

'Mummy I need a sugar hit'

I gave her a rather puzzled look and asked her what she wanted

'A sugar hit Mummy'

I asked her again, to which I got a sigh and she wandered off.  She returned with a lolly pop, handed it to me  and said

'Open it please Mummy, I need a sugar hit'

I was rather confused as this was a phrase I have never used and neither has my husband.  I have absolutely no idea where it has come from or why.  The other thing that has puzzled me is lolly, she has never shown an interest in sweet lolly.  It has had me puzzled all day.

  14. What an odd little phrase, cute though - I can't think of any cartoon with sugar hits on and consider myself an expert but not by choice xx

  15. Bless her! Where on earth did she get that phrase from? I don't think even my big kids know that phrase. The picture of her in the glasses is too cute.
