I had my return to work meeting today, which brought it home just how close it is that I start back at work. As I have said many times before I do enjoy my job and am ever so lucky to have one, it does not change the fact I will miss the girls terribly. They are constantly in my thoughts.
My eldest said to me this morning, 'Mummy where have your trousers gone?' , as I put on my skirt to look smart for the meeting. I am normally a jeans and trainers wearer so she is not used to seeing me in smart clothes or skirts. Which then raised several other questions about why Mummy is going to work. After the 101 questions I took the girls to nursery.
What was lovely is that when I picked the girls up from nursery both were happy and smiling and clearly had had a good day. As the sun was shining when we got home we spent the rest of the afternoon in the garden.
Those few hours in the garden before dinner the girls did not stop laughing and giggling. I think we had more fun in that short amount of time than we would have during the day. There were no tears or tantrums and no refusing to have a nap, it was just good quality time having fun together outdoors.
Even after dinner we continued to play
Today helped me to realise that even though I will be returning to work and will be unable to spend all day with my girls, the time I do spend with them can be just as much fun. We can laugh and giggle and play right up until bed time.
This day I love smiling faces.

How lovely. We had hysteric giggling over a sneeze from my 10 month old today. There's just nothing better than baby giggles and smiles is there?
