Review : Sparkup The magical book reader
In my previous job I used to be away from home a lot. I used to miss the girls terribly and whilst bed time on the whole is rather stressful, we love reading books together and I would miss this time with them. We tried to Skype once but the girls got so upset that they could see me and not be near me that it just was not a good idea.
The nice thing about Sparkup the magical book reader is that it can record up to 250 minutes of audio [approx 50 books]. The girls can then hear my voice, reading them a story even though I am not there. Sparkup lets you record in any language too. Which means you can use your current book and record in a second language or use it to help learn a second language.
Sparkup is simple to use. Clip it to the top of the story book and as you read the tiny camera scans the page. Then when your child wants to listen to the book press the play button. Sparkup recognises the book via the camera. The Sparkup reader is also really clever as it recognises the page the girls are on. The girls can skip pages and the Sparkup skips with them.
My sister no longer lives near us and the girls miss her. The next time she visits I will be asking her to record some stories for the girls to listen to. They can then have their Auntie read them a bed time story, even though she is not here.
I really like Sparkup it is a great way to encourage kids to read independently. As it does not require wifi to work it can be used anywhere, provided the batteries are charged. Sparkup is a very clever tool.
I am pleased to be able to offer a Sparkup to one lucky winner. Simply follow the instructions on the Rafflecopter below. Giveaway is open to UK residents aged 18 and over. Closes on 5th November at midnight, full t&c on widget
