This day I love.......

The items mentioned in this post have been received for purpose of review. All words are my own personal opinion.

Little Man is now three years old and just started at nursery. Like most three year olds he absolutely loves Peppa Pig. He was in for a real treat when he came home from nursery and discovered a box just for him. It had two of the new Learn with Peppa toys inside. The Peppa Pig Laugh and Learn laptop and the Peppa Pig Smart tablet. His little hands were so excited to open the boxes to begin playing with them. Luckily both items were really easy to remove from the packages and I was also impressed that the packaging could also be recycled.

Peppa Pig Laugh and Learn Laptop

Little Man often sees me working on my laptop. Working from home for his entire life, he knows no different than watching me work on a laptop. He therefore was rather delighted to receive his very own laptop and a Peppa Pig one too. His laptop has a rather smart handle, meaning he can carry it with ease wherever he goes. The laptop screen then lifts up, just like a real laptop and fits perfectly on his three year old legs so he can work just like Mummy.

His work however is lots of Peppa fun. Peppa has four fun games to play which help introduce letters, numbers, colours, objects and musical instruments. The games are interactive and the laptop lights up and plays sounds as he plays the games. There is also the option to play one of 6 tunes, play piano tunes and there are even some funny sounds too.

The Peppa Pig laugh and learn laptop is bright coloured and very eye catching to Little Man at three years old. He loves that the screen looks like Peppa things. The numbers are how Peppa would show them and the whole design is true to the show. The main buttons are big and chunky and I love the use of colour and different shapes. Little Man rather likes the slider, which is used for selecting the different game, and will slide it quickly up and down.

Batteries were included and there is a main on and off switch on the base of the laptop.

Peppa Pig Smart tablet

The Peppa Pig smart tablet is incredibly light weight meaning Little Man carries it everywhere he can. I do mean everywhere. One of the things he loves is how it is touch screen. In the same way a tablet would work you make selections by touching the front of the smart tablet.

Upon switching on Peppa asks you which game you want to play. You make a selection using the buttons on the side and Peppa will then ask you a question. For example if you select colours, Peppa will ask something like ‘Find the Purple Puddle’ Pressing the purple puddle plays a well done style noise but pressing the wrong colour plays an error noise. Little Man loves the colour game, I think because he is pretty clued up on his colours, whereas he tends not to play the letter game as he finds it harder to get the answer right as he is not as confident with letter recognition.

The Peppa Pig Smart tablet will grow with him as he does start to recognise letters and numbers and the interactive games with Peppa means he keeps coming back to aid his learning and understanding. The size is just perfect for him and his little toddler hands, at three years old he can carry it with ease. There is a clear volume control and an off and on button making it another good toy to use to entertain him for longer car journeys. The tablet takes AAA batteries which are not included.

You can also Learn with Peppa as I am giving away either a Peppa Smart Tablet or Peppa Pig Laugh and Learn Laptop to one lucky winner drawn at random. Full terms are on the widget below. Prize may vary on the ones stated depending on availability.

This giveaway is in conjunction with Sudocrem, however no financial compensation has taken place.

Sudocrem has been my go to for many years. I  have used it to soothe many wounds, such as burns or grazes and even used it after a run to soothe chaffing issues. My children are familiar with it too as I have used it to help with many of their ailments, and still do. In fact I have a small pot of Sudocrem in my car just in case.

I knew Sudocrem was a brand I could trust to provide soothing when needed but I hadn't realised it has actually been around for over 80 years. The Sudocrem brand started in Dublin in 1931 and it's name evolved from an Irish pronunciation of ‘soothing cream’

To celebrate Sudocrem soothing families since 1931 Sudocream are giving away a Sudocrem soothing pack. Our special Sudocrem Soothing pack contains a bed time story all about Mr Panda and his soothing night time rituals, a cuddly panda bear toy, a fluffy bath towel, and an eye-mask for grown-ups. Plus, a handy pot of My Little Sudocrem

This is a featured post in collaboration with Walkers crisps.

Now here’s the story from A-Z….

If you didn’t sing that sentence to a certain Spice girls song then…. Well I am not sure how to end that

I grew up in the 90s. The 90s were my school years, leaving primary school and entering high school, leaving high school for college and learning to drive a car. The 90s saw me leave childhood and become a teenager, almost into adulthood. They were a big part of my life.

My musical taste is, well let’s say not mainstream, but that doesn’t mean I don’t remember the songs of the 90s. I remember my sister having a Spice girls poster on her bedroom wall and her listening to their songs. Whilst I wasn’t listening to them direct, they had an indirect impact on me. For some reason I seem to know the words to the vast majority of their songs. In fact watching my friends and sisters perform the dance moves to Spice Girls stop means that they are permanently etched into my brain even to this day.

My Facebook timeline and my Instagram newsfeed is currently flooded with 90s bands. Take That reunion tour, Westlife reunion tour and the Spice Girls. It’s almost like the 90s again, except I have young children in tow and want to be in bed by 9.30pm. I see the excitement on my friends faces as they head out to watch the bands they loved growing up, it’s almost like been back there again only this time with a lot more grey hairs thrown in.

It would appear it is not just my social media timeline that is reliving the 90s. Walkers, the UK’s favourite crisp brand, has teamed up with iconic girl group, Spice Girls, for a nostalgic throwback to the 90s in its new TV advert and have begun the search for the  Spice Girls Best Ever Fan, during the girls UK tour. Fans were asked to post a Spice Girls related snapshot from back in the day, or to create something new and share on their social channel of choice, tagging @Walkers_Crisps and hashtagging #BestEverFan.

The entries have been amazing and I would recommend you have a look, there really are some serious fans out there. How they will choose I winner I do not know. As for the advert, well that runs from 2nd June until the 21st July 2019 and in case you missed it you can watch it again here.

This is a featured post containing a competition Sponsored by British skincare brand, Sudocrem.

For as long as I can remember I have always had a love for the outdoors and growing plants. I can remember every year growing potatoes in a bucket with my Grandad. Tipping out the dirt to see what had grown. My Grandma taught me how to take cuttings and replant them to grow new plants. Their garage was covered in sweet peas and we would pick them and eat them in the garden.

In my own garden I have two apple trees, a pear tree and a cherry tree. I bought a fig tree from the nursery for 50p and for the first time this year it has started to grow. Outside the doors my hanging baskets grow tumbling tomato plants rather than flowers and I have an abundance of rhubarb and strawberries growing out of pots.

My parents also grow their own fruit and veg and my children enjoy growing their own fruit and veg not only at home but also with their Grandparents. Last year they planted and took care of pumpkins which they then successfully used over Halloween. During Autumn they pick blackberries and cook fruit crumble and one of their loves is eating apples straight from the tree.

I am incredibly excited to announce that I am a Get Out and Grow ambassador. In a recent survey Sponsored by British skincare brand, Sudocrem, the Get Out and Grow project was created. The research suggested gardening is being forgotten and that many children lack basic knowledge about the natural world and where their food comes from. Only 8% had ever picked an apple and 73% had never grown a sunflower. These statistics are rather shocking given how much fruit and veg my own children grow.

Get out and Grow school competition

Starting in June and running throughout the month, Get Out and Grow will award school gardening starter kits to 20 schools nationwide. The kits will include children’s wheelbarrows, gardening gloves, mini-trowels, seeds and lessons on how to make the most of a school garden. And the good news is, anyone can enter! Nominating your local primary school or nursery is easy. Just fill in the widget below and then message me or leave a comment with the details of your chosen school to be in with the chance to win one of the available kits. Full terms and conditions are on the widget.

On the 29th October the Littlest Reindeer is available to own on DVD and Digital download. Featuring an all-star voice cast lead by Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games franchise), Samantha Bee (TV’s Full Frontal with Samantha Bee), Martin Short (The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause), Morena Baccarin (Deadpool; Deadpool 2), Jeff Dunham (The Nut Job; Smurfs: The Lost Village), and the legendary John Cleese (Monty Python), this movie is set to become a new favourite Christmas classic.

We settled down to watch an advanced copy of the DVD we had kindly been sent. An evening treat for the kids, sweets and a DVD whilst snuggled under the duvet in my room. The girls soon took to Elliott.  He has set his sights on becoming the newest – and tiniest – member of Santa’s reindeer team, but he is forced with the biggest decision of his life: save his friends or follow his dreams and save Christmas! I actually really like Hazel, Elliott's friend, she has a rather comical manner to her that just appealed to me.

When Blitzen suddenly announces his retirement from the reindeer team, Santa needs to find a replacement, and fast! Against all odds, Elliot and his best friend Hazel set out to prove that he is the little horse for the job. Busy with the North Pole reindeer try-outs, Hazel and Elliot don’t realise that a sinister lady has turned up at the ranch and their friends are in serious danger.

The girls sat and watched the DVD on repeat, I had to go out half way to put their brother to bed as he had fallen asleep and when I came back I thought I had seen the part we were on. Turned out I had the girls had enjoyed the film and decided to watch it again!

I am giving away a copy of the Littlest reindeer on DVD, perfect for a festive family night in. If you would like to win a copy simply enter your details on the widget below.

I have just returned home from a run.  A planned 8 mile run cut short due to the heavy rain.  I can hear the rain beating down on the glass outside.  I stand in the dark hallway cold and soaked to the bone.  The door to the front room opens, my youngest daughter reaches out and asks for a hug.  Our dog jumps up excitedly to greet me.  Little Man snoring away through the baby monitor.

After a shower I return downstairs to sit on the sofa between my girls.  Snuggled together under a throw, lights low to help the girls unwind and the dog fast asleep on the rug.  We sit there together, warm and cosy, for half hour before bed.  It is so quiet I can hear the girls breathing, it is peaceful and I feel happy.

This time together is so precious, the girls at school all day and my training meaning I am spending most evenings running.  The idea behind Hygge is to forget life’s worries, to unwind and relax and to feel as at-home as possible.  Whenever I return from a run and cuddle my children this is the moment I feel as at-home as possible.  In the winter though this seems to feel even more special.  Perhaps the dark outside adds to the mood.  The warmth inside.  The soft cuddly cushions and throw on the sofa are so inviting for a cuddle when I come in from the cold.

My girls recently have become a little obsessed with Masha and the bear.  I honestly thought it was Marsha until they both kept correcting me.  They discovered the show through YouTube and it is one of those series that they keep going back to, despite the first few times they watched it the language was in Russian.

The girls have both asked for Masha and the bar toys for Christmas.  My youngest has been sent a Mash and the bear interactive game from Clementoni toys

The game is educational in that it can teach colours, shapes and numbers.  You solve the puzzle via the interactive pen which makes a sound when you select the right answer.  Whilst my youngest has not played the game yet, as I have wrapped it up for Christmas, I have had rather a lot of fun playing with the game.  Obviously the game was simple for me to do but I still liked how it would appeal to my daughter.  Bright colours, colourful graphics and the characters she loves from Masha and the Bear.  I am looking forward to seeing her face on Christmas day.

Earlier this year Masha and the bear launched their first DVD, and they are back again with a festive DVD.  I have also watched the DVD without the girls as it is going to be a treat for my eldest on Christmas eve.

The DVD is packed full of winter fun, including Masha learning to ice skate with the help of Bear and Lady Bear.  In addition the following episodes are on the DVD:

Holiday on Ice,
One, Two, Three!
Light the Christmas Tree,
Picture Perfect,
Tracks of Unknown Animals,
Watch Out!,
First Day of School,
No Trespassing,
The Snow Maiden
The Wolf and the Fox

I am giving away a copy of the DVD to one lucky winner, simply follow the instructions below

Good Luck

As a parent I am fully aware of the dangers of my children playing online.  Given their ages [ 6 and 4 years old] they love to spend time watching YouTube videos, and playing online games.  The majority of these games come with in built advertisements, or in app purchases, neither of which I am happy about and more often than not they will only work with wifi or they eat up a huge chunk of my data allowance.

I was pleased to learn therefore of a new app and website due to launch soon, Kidscast.  Kidscast is designed for children aged 3 years up to 12 years, which means it is perfect for both my girls.  It works even when there is no wifi and it does not eat up a chunk of your data.  This is perfect for when we travel on the train as their is often a lack of signal!

Kidscast is accredited by UK.CCIS and CoppaKidsafe which gives great reassurance to me as a parent.  There are no adverts and no in app purchases.  Kidscast is a monthly subscription of £3.99 for this you receive a whole host of activities, games and tv programs, plus every month there is a little extra.  Kidscast has been designed to support children as they learn and the app is user friendly and intuitive for children to use independently.

Some of the TV programs you can watch and download from Kidscast are:

Little Monsters
Little Monsters is a British animated children's television that ran from 1998–1999 on BBC1. This children’s animated series follows little monsters in their funny and fascinating adventures.

Microscopic Milton
Children's animated shorts featuring a tiny character who lives in a clock in Mrs Witherspoon's house. Only his friend Douglas, a shaggy dog, knows that he is there. A lovely and charming series that children will fall in love with.

Om Nom Stories
Featuring the energetic character Om Nom on the latest adventures, the cute little green monster from Cut the Rope.

Cockleshell Bay
Charming British animated series about two children, Robin and Rosie, who have moved with their family to the seaside town of the title in order to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. Beautiful series that is a pleasure to watch and share with the family.

Alias the Jester
The show follows the adventures of a time traveller by the name of Alias and his dog-like companion Boswell. Alias the Jester - A "time traveller bold" as said in the title track. After crashing in the Middle Ages he gets a job as a jester for King Arthur. He also fights crime as the Red Knight, who the wizard Meredith believes he summoned. Boswell - Alias' dog-like alien companion, apparently possessing a fairly high intellect as he is able to understand Alias and take orders. Very entertaining series that’s kids will love!

Creepy Crawlies
Creepy Crawlies was a stop motion animation series following the characters on their latest adventures.

Victor & Hugo
The misadventures of two bumbling burglar brothers, tall and thin leader Victor, who's vain and selfish, and short and chubby Hugo, who's silly and fun-loving. Plenty of fun to be had watching the entertaining series.

Sooty
Sooty is a lovable and innocent British born children's television series. These retro episodes pull on the heart strings of parents across the UK and provide the opportunity to share those special memories with their children too. With Sooty, Sweep and Sue around there is always fun to be had!

Rainbow
Rainbow ran on ITV for 20 years, mostly at lunchtimes. It became one of the highest rating children shows of all time and one of most popular. After over 1500 shows, Rainbow came to an end in 1992, but the show remains a massive success with people of all ages. Originally it was intended to develop language and number skills for pre-school children and feature the iconic characters Bungle, George and Zippy!

The Wind in the Willows
The Wind in the Willows is a TV series that was originally broadcast between 1984 and 1987, based on characters from Kenneth Grahame's classic story The Wind in the Willows. Follow Mr Toad and friends on their magical and charming adventures.

In conjunction with Kidscast I am giving away a 6 in 1 Super science kit with a RRP of £34.99.  With the 6 in 1 Super Science Kit you will be able to find out how to coloured flowers and how to collect fingerprints, separate mixtures and hot to make bombastic chemical explosions, simulate the formation of a mountain and how to represent an amazing volcano eruption, make a Newton disc and make a working pulley, build your own galaxy and a spacial exploration vehicle.

In 1999 the World's first channel dedicated for pre-school children was launched, Nick Jr.  As the girls have grown they have developed a love for Nick Jr and their favourite shows Paw Patrol, Dora and Friends: Into the City!, Peppa Pig, Lily’s Driftwood Bay and Blaze and the Monster Machines.

My girls are probably not alone in that they love to play on their tablets and watch their favourite characters.  Nick Jr has just had a major refresh in order to be more user friendly to its audience.  The site has been rejuvenated so it is much easier to use, contains free games to play and works across a range of devices

“Our aim was to rejuvenate nickjr.co.uk to match our young audience’s constantly evolving digital habits,” said Suzie Adams, Nickelodeon Digital Director. “We now have a platform which encourages and inspires children to use their imagination whilst providing them opportunity to immerse themselves in the worlds of their favourite Nick Jr. shows.”

The site is organised by character and also by categories:

Music

A new section for the upgraded site, here users will find musical activities, games and sing-along videos. This section also hosts the much-loved Big Block Sing Song videos.

Learn

This hub congregates all of the content that allows kids to learn letters, numbers and more via their favourite Nick Jr. characters and shows. This section also includes the award-winning Nick Jr. Leap.

Activities

Here kids can create their very own artwork. Users can work with digital templates of Nick Jr. characters, embellishing them with a range of tools, from paint splats to glitter or can be printed and coloured by hand

Videos

The new site contains more videos than ever before, including music videos and original shorts. Plus thanks to the site upgrade, these can be viewed anywhere.

Games

The site upgrade now means that all games can be played in full screen. In this section users will find a whole host of engaging gaming, including racing, puzzle and dress-up games. Each game created by Nick Jr. aims to entertain kids whilst also offering educational resources in topics such as maths, reading and socio-emotional skills.

To celebrate the relaunch Nick Jr are giving away a goody bag containing:

goodie bag

-          Nick Jr. colouring book

-          Nick Jr. umbrella

-          Nick Jr. tote bag

-          Nick Jr. crayon set

and a Wacky Hair Dough prize that isn’t in the shops yet.

Having three children I can hand on heart say parenting is a roller coaster journey.  It has some amazing highs first steps, first words, first cuddle, first moment they look at you, first tastes, and some not so great lows.  Parenting is also an emotional roller coaster journey, torn between letting each age pass to looking forward to new adventures.  Watching a child grow and develop is a journey like no other, and one which I have the privilege to do three times.

Tommee Tippee have for some time had their #parenton campaign.  A campaign which says trust your instincts and all a baby needs is you.  A campaign I am proud to have worked on.  Now Tommee Tippee are launching their mini moments!  Mini Moments include 20 beautifully illustrated cards to capture those momentous occasions and 20 real-life cards to capture the often humorous lows of parenting.  Simply place the cards next to baby, take a photo and share instant memories with friends and family.

Tommee Tippee mini moment cards

To celebrate Tommee Tippee are giving away 10,000 of these milestone cards during the Asda baby and toddler event, alternatively you could win 1 with me.  They make a perfect gift for any new parent and they are a perfect way to record the highs and lows of parenting!

We’ve teamed up TOMY toys to offer 1 lucky child the chance to win a Zootropolis toy bundle, designed to let kids recreate specific scenes and events from the film, truly bringing it to life.

The girls are both huge fans of Zootropolis and have seen it twice, Little man has even been along to see it!  I personally think it is a fantastic film which touches upon some very important issues.  Whilst the children may not pick up on the issues of race, or gender they do understand the feelings and actions of the characters.

Here is what the makers of the film say:

'From the studio that brought the smash hits Frozen, and Big Hero 6, Zootropolis is a modern, civilised world that is entirely… animal. Comprised of habitat neighbourhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and bustling Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when rookie Officer Judy Hopps arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde to solve the mystery.'

The bundle will include Judy's Carrot Recorder and Badge, Judy’s Police Vehicle and a cuddly Officer Judy Hopps.

The girls have been testing the toys, and have been tricking me with the Carrot recorder.  The recorder looks just like Judy Hopps recorder from the film and by simply pressing a button you can record sounds.  The girls think this is great fun and have had lots of giggles recording various noises they make!

The Police vehicle is of a fantastic size and the girls have simply loved it, often a few arguments about who can play with it!  The police mobile illuminates as you push it and at the back is a mini jail.  The Talking Judy Hopps plush is really soft and cuddly and says 6 sounds and phrases from the movie.

Smart is the new Cool with Project Mc 2, a brand new fashion doll by MGA Entertainment.  Launched in August last year at the same time as the Netflix original series, these smart and savy characters are aspiration and effortlessly cool.

The four main characters the range focuses on are:

McKeyla McAlister (Mc 2 )

o Writer, hipster and undercover spy! When McKeyla isn’t writing in her journal, you’ll find her reading a Sir Arthur Conan Doyle novel, up-cycling or saving the world! Her catch phrase is “I’m smart. Get over it!”

Adrienne Attoms (A 2 )

o Made of a more complex recipe than sugar and spice. Adrienne is a culinary chemist! Originally from Spain (her father is a diplomat), she just loves to host dinner parties. Her catch phrase is “Pretty Brilliant”

Bryden Bandweth (B 2 )

o Bryden loves tweeting, digital photography, streaming music and anything tech! Just don’t ask her to go camping in the wilderness or anywhere without a hotspot! She’s a 24/7 #digitaldarling. Her catch phrase? “Stand Back, I’m Trending”

Camryn Coyle (C 2 )

o Known for her high IQ, Camryn’s real genius comes out in the garage – especially when it comes to her souped up skateboard! Her catch phrase is “Nailed It”

The four girls attend Maywood Glenn Academy - but are also part of a secret, seriously cool organisation, NOV8 (pronounced ‘Innovate’). Even their friendship makes mathematical sense - based on the Pythagorean theorem that A 2 + B 2 = C 2

I am pleased to be giving away a Project Mc 2 Dolls with Experiments (RRP £24.99)

Each character comes complete with their very own experiment for you to make at home. Build McKeyla’s lava light or Camryn’s skateboard, make Adrienne’s volcano erupt or Bryden’s glow stick shine! All experiments use products you can find in your own home for the ultimate in interactive science play.
