Whilst watching the snow fall this morning my daughter had one very simple request, 'Play in snow please Mummy'. With both girls still not at their best and myself feeling like death warmed up, playing out in the snow was the last thing I really wanted to do. At the same time I want my children to be happy so I searched the internet for a solution.
I came across a post by Karen from Women Wife and Mum on the Babyhuddle facebook page about indoor snow. I really wanted to give this ago as a solution to my daughter wanting to play in the snow and me not wanting them to get too cold outside.
Here is what we did:
In a bowl mix 2 cups cornflower, one third a cup of vegetable oil and add a good sprinkle of glitter. Mix really well.
The texture is amazingly like snow. It has a crunch to it like snow does when you squish it for snowballs and the glitter adds an element of magic to it. My girls were hooked and spent most of the afternoon playing with it.
Of course a bowl in front of an 8 month old could only lead to one thing
Needless to say my house is now covered in glitter, but the girls had a lot of fun and that is more important. After a day of playing with snow my daughter was so tired out she fell asleep on the way up the stairs
I think we shall be playing with indoor snow again
This day I love Indoor snow fun.

DeleteLove this!!
ReplyDeleteWith a daughter myself, I feel that there is always glitter all over the house. I tell her that its like Ke$ha had a party at our house and we weren't invited.

DeleteThis sounds like a whole lot of fun. We'll never have snow here in Costa Rica, and unless airline prices drop a whole lot, my daughter won't see snow for a few more years. What a great project and a plus that it takes so much energy out of your kids that they'll sleep well. I'm all about great nights. Thanks for joining us at the Mommy-Brain Mixer this week.
ReplyDeleteIt was a loads of fun and I cant recommend giving it a go as it so easy. Please let me know if you do, be great to see the fun you have
