Giving the magic of reading

It is no secret that we are a family that love to read.  Ten minutes a day of reading with a child can make a big difference to their future.  Those ten minutes can be used to cuddle together to sit and read a book, help imaginations grow and gain an interest in reading and books.  Stories are a wonderful way to bring you closer together and share some time with each other.

18 months ago an independent publisher noticed a gap in the market.  They publish the only story magazine for children, with no adverts and no plastic toys but just great stories.  The quality of the magazine makes them feel much more like books than the shiny glossy magazines which tear all too easily.  We were sent two copies of Storytime magazine to read together.

Storytime magazine

Storytime magazine features fairy tales, poems, myths and legends, folks tales and of course puzzles and activities.  The illustrations are simply beautiful and of the quality you would find in children books.  They help to bring the stories to life and spark the imagination of the children who read them.  My girls love their Storytime magazines so much, that they took them to school for show and tell.

The stories within Storytime mean that you could choose one for your ten minutes a day to read together, and as children get older they are short enough to encourage independent reading.  Having the stories laid out like a magazine can also make it more appealing to read than a book.  The variety of stories in each magazine also means you can pick and choose a story dependant on a topic or theme.

Both of my girls have loved reading Storytime with me.  They have them on their bookcase in their rooms and often choose them over other books.  I love that whilst this is a magazine it has the feel of a book full of short stories and will be something the girls can treasure for some time to come.

I have a rather special giveaway with Storytime, and am pleased to be giving away a subscription to Storytime for a school of the winners choice.  Storytime is suitable from Early years right through to Key Stage 2 and is the perfect way to encourage kids to read.  Entry is via the widget below, which contains full terms and conditions.

I am also able to offer a discount to get your first issue free and also at least 30% off after the free issue.
