Review : Cybex cloud q infant car seat

by - 09:00

The Cybex cloud q infant car seat is a group 0+ car seat and has a RRP of £220. It is available as either belted or base. The base can be attached either via isofix or via three point seat belt. I particularly like this as a belted base can then be used in the middle seat and the functionally of isofix becomes available.  This is a group 0+ infant carrier, however Cybex also do the Sirona which is a 0+/1 seat and allows rear facing to 4 years. [RRP £375]

The first thing to note with any car seat is that to ensure it is appropriate for your car. Each car seat comes with an approved car list and the Cloud Q is no exception to this. The Cloud Q was approved for use in my car and I was also able to use the base on the Middle seat with the seat belt.

Installation was really easy with the base. I managed it whilst holding little man as he did not want to be put down. The isofix bars are easily located underneath the base and can be stored there if using a belted fitting as I did. The support leg is simple to extended using a squeezing method and fits snug on the floor. I particularly like the handy guides in the seat to show you not only the direction to install, rear facing, but also to help you get the seat level. This is a really great visual guide to ensure the seat is installed correctly.

The handle for the seat can be in various positions outside the car, but needs to be in a downward position in the car. It is worth checking this as all seats are different and some require the handle to be in an up positions. Little man is kept well supported within the seat and seems to have plenty of padding around him.

The head rest is easy to extend out the back with a simple pull or push and this also moves the harness. This is great because there is no re threading of the harness as your child grows.

The harness does twist quite easily and it is worth checking that it is untwisted when fastening your child in the seat. A three point harness is easily adjusted using a simple push button at the base of the seat near the child's feet. A quick release red button to undo the harness is also easy to locate.

The cloud q is rather clever in that out of the car it has a true lie flat recline. Whilst I am a firm believer that a car seat should always stay in the car this functionality is great should an emergency arise and you needed to use the car seat outside the car. It is a true lie flat and not on an angle which is perfect for babies alignment and breathing.

The hood on the cloud a easily retracts and when fully extended provides ample shade. It has a great modern look and feel to it.

Overall the cloud q is quick and easy to install with a variety of installing options. It grows with your child and there is no need to re thread the harness as it is all done automatically. My only niggle is the harness does twist easily. It has a true lie flat function and looks modern and stylish.   The cloud Q is a welcome addition to the Cybex range which also includes the Solution Q2 fix.  [RRP £190]

The Cloud Q was sent for review, all words are my own opinion.
