This day I love.......

The girls and I love exploring outdoors to see what we can find.  I have thought about giving her a list of things to find but at the moment she is still a little too young, instead we play the rainbow game.  My daughter knows the colours of the rainbow, she can both sing and sign the song, and loves the fun of exploring whilst out.

The game is simple whilst out try and find something in nature to match each of the colours of the rainbow.  It is great because it gets children looking and exploring nature and even young children can play, as there is no need to read or match pictures.

Red

We found some red berries high up in the tree which my eldest pointed out and some bright red leaves on our Acer tree

Yellow

We also found a bee and some buttercups.  We managed to find quite a lot of yellow today.

Pink

We searched high and low for something pink but could not find anything.  We even dug holes to find worms but to no luck.  We will look this weekend for something pink.

 Green

My eldest found a green fly.  She loves picking up bugs and creepy crawlies at the moment.  Taking a photo of a green fly with your phone whilst your eldest wants to play with the green fly is rather tricky.

Purple

My eldest pointed this out, she was fascinated by the shape.  I had to explain not to touch.

Orange and Blue

The orange sand and the blue of the lake was just to beautiful an opportunity to pass up.  Our dog loved swimming in the lake whilst my eldest played in the sand.

The rainbow game is a great way to introduce colours and to get children looking and exploring whilst out and about.  When she is older I could be very specific like find plants and flowers or animals but at the moment its things whilst we are out.  We also don't do the colours in order at the moment as this would make the game harder too.  It is a lot of fun and my eldest enjoys the search and fun of finding the colours.

This weekend I attended Britmums Live 2013.  I still cannot quite believe it.  It was a totally amazing experience and one that would not have been possible if it was not for my amazing sponsors Yoomi.  Yoomi have also had an amazing weekend having just won not one but two Silver Loved by Parent awards, Many congratulations.

Britmums Live 2013

I attended some fantastic sessions over the course of two days.  I have two areas in particular I wanted to focus on.  The first of which is photography.  I would love to be able to capture better photos of the girls.  It was great that there were several sessions that I could attend on photography and some that focused on smart phone photography, which is great as I don't yet own a camera.  I tried to put some of the things I learnt in the sessions in use today to take this picture on my phone, I would love to know what you think

Another area I wanted to look at was Pinterest.  Its an on line tool which, if I am totally honest, I do not fully understand how to use.  This was my aim to understand better and to have more confidence to use.  The session was fantastic and gave me lots of ideas that I want to put in to practise.

As well as all the amazing sessions there was also the chance to meet some amazing brands.  I want to say a huge thank you to all the brands that attended Britmums Live, it was fantastic to meet you all.

The Visit Orlando team had a green screen and we made a virtual postcard, having watched it I am not going to rush into acting any time soon, but it was a lot of fun.  I think I need to plan a holiday to Orlando just to escape the embarrassment of the video

Acer also had a fun photo booth

Which I must admit to visiting on more than one occasion.  Amongst the many celebrities walking around which included Katy Hill, Kirstie Allsopp I managed to have my picture taken with two, Hedwig from Harry Potter and Alex from Madagascar

The best thing by far was to meet all those wonderful people I have become friends with on line in real life.  It was such an amazing experience, one I will never forget.  I have learnt a lot, laughed a lot and made some friends for life.  Thank you Yoomi for sponsoring me for Britmums Live 2013.
