This day I love.......

I can remember my final year in Infant school.  The teacher, my friends and class mates.  The school routine and layout, I remember it all.  My eldest daughter will enter her final year of Infant school this September, she has finally caught up with her friends in her class and turned 6.  Even if for only a short while, this is something she has been counting down to, to be the same age as the rest of her class.

I don't remember much before the age of six, somethings but not a lot and no where near as much detail as after six.  This makes me appreciate the fact that my eldest daughter will look back and will remember all that is to come.  It makes me nervous in some ways, not that we will do anything different but more because I can remember being her age.

She is such a determined and driven person, incredibly competitive and strong willed [ I cannot think where she gets that from!] yet at the same time she is incredibly sensitive and loving.  Her desire to learn is growing each day, and she certainly has an observer learning style.  The bond that is developing between her and her brother is so incredibly special.  The girls often get mistaken for twins which shows how close the two of them are.

There could only be one way to celebrate her turning six and it was her request to go bowling.  In fact she has been asking all year to go bowling for her birthday.  My sister had come home for the weekend with her partner and it made her birthday even more special to have them there.

I had made the school boy error of leaving the camera at home, and realised almost towards the end of the game that I had no photos of the day, the best I have is of my youngest.

The weekend has been filled with family and friends, and packed full of all the things my eldest daughter loves.  I am so incredibly proud of her and often pinch myself that she is mine.  I am excited to watch her grow and create more memories for her.

This day I love Birthday weekend with family and friends.

We had been invited a few weeks ago to a Num Noms event with Bella Italia.  The date for the event was moved and fell on my daughters birthday.  I asked her what she wanted to do, if she wanted to stay with our original plans of having her friends to play for the day, or to go to the Num Noms event.  She chose to go to the event.

My eldest daughter was incredibly excited as I gathered her, her sister and three of their friends into the car.  I on the other hand was a little apprehensive of the prospect of looking after 6 children all day.  As it was her birthday I put all this to one side and braved the day.

The event was a perfect day for my eldest daughter, with face painting Num Noms style

Creating your own pizza and of course eating it for lunch.  Followed by a pink princess cake complete with crown!

Everyone joined in the celebrations and sang happy birthday to my daughter.  It really made her day and this was the first thing she told her Dad when he came home from work.  After cake there could only be one option, ice cream!  The huge selection seemed to have everyone mesmerised

Two hours seemed to simply fly past and it was not long before it was time to go home.  Unfortunately my youngest daughter was not too keen on this idea as she was having too much fun!

This day I love Double celebrations.

Later this week my youngest daughter turns 4!  I cannot quite believe it to be honest, time seems to have really flown by.  She wanted a party for all of her friends from nursery so we headed to the local soft play.  The girls enjoyed running around with their friends and it was lovely to watch everyone having fun.

Little man also greeted us and had a good look around and what appears to be a think about his sisters party! It won't be long before he is also running around and probably chasing his sisters!

The afternoon seemed to go really quickly and it wasn't long before it was time to sing happy birthday.   This has to be one of my favourite photos of today, I just love how happy they both are

We all had a wonderful time celebrating her 4th birthday and would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came.  You all made her day really special!

This day I love Bank holiday celebrations

I love watching the girls play.  I wish I could join in with their games but it is just not possible at the moment.

A friend of the girls came round to play and they all made the most of the mild weather and played outside.  There was lots of giggling and running and of course throwing balls for the dogs.

The dogs were incredibly happy with the girls throwing balls for them and ran around the garden with delight

The girls were really good at taking it in turns at throwing the ball and it was lovely to watch the three of them all play together

The tongue of concentration even made an appearance

It was such a lovely afternoon watching them all play together and so lovely to see the dogs involved too.

This day I love three amigos

As Summer is on its way the warm evenings draw us into spending more time in the garden and often in the company of friends.  Often at dinner parties a good bottle of wine accompanies.  To find the best bottle of white wine Kira Browdy has written the following simple guide.

If you’re hosting a dinner party, or even just a quiet night in with friends, it’s important to get a good bottle of wine. A tasty dish will become even better if you know which wine should go with it. With so many wines to choose from, it can be a bit daunting. But you don’t have to look far for a good bottle of wine. White wine is perfect for any festive event as well as for usual dinner with the family.

White wines are the choice of true connoisseurs of wine. White wine has a more subtle and elegant bouquet and a more delicate taste compared with red wine, so it is more difficult to estimate. It is believed that the wine potential of a country can be estimated exactly by the taste of white and not of red wine because it is a true art to prepare an outstanding white wine. Some people prefer the taste of white table wines or dessert wines, and some prefer semi-dry or semi-sweet varieties.

But the attempt to choose a worthy bottle of wine and not to get lost among the shelves can be quite challenging. Therefore I have decided to tell about what you should look for when buying white wine.

1. Look at prices. In recent years the "elite" wine is associated by many with a high purchase price but this is not always the case. Elite white wine can be bought in various price ranges. But the probability of finding a bottle that’s good and cheap is very low. You get what you pay for, so try and avoid the cheapest bottles (unless you see one on offer).

2. Consider the sugar content. The most interesting white wines are white dry wines sugar content of which doesn't exceed 0.2%. Semisweet white wines differ by strength 12-15% and 7% sugar content. Sweet white wine contains from 7% to 30% of sugar.

3. Pay attention to the composition. If the label doesn't specify a specific variety or several varieties of grapes used for its production and is given only imprecise formulation like "of the best varieties," then almost certainly in the production were used just some remains of grapes so there can be no more words about its quality. Such wine is never really good...

4. Check for sediment. Sometimes sediment may indicate that there have been some irregularities in the carriage (e.g., wine was frozen) or storage (e.g., direct sunlight). Yet little sediment in the wine is not a reason to panic. Most likely, this means that you will drink aged or biological wine which didn't pass the filtering process and thus didn't lose its substances that make up the taste of the wine.

5. Read the information on the label and not just look at it. There are a few signs that help determine the quality of wine by its appearance and the label. But quite often behind the fanciful picture hides a very unattractive content. Often you can find tips from sommeliers who don’t recommend buying wines with animals, birds and insects on the label. This might sound snobbish, but it’s important that you look past the attractive graphics to the information about the wine.

Besides gorgeous taste, light shades of this drink will remind you of the sunlight which was absorbed by the great brands of wine. Moderate consumption of white wine will positively affect your health and appearance; it will add more shine to your eyes and a delicate taste of the drink will perfectly complement any dish.

I have a guilty pleasure, and that is wrestling.  I would if I could spend all day watching wrestling.  Before anyone says to me 'You know it's not real don't you' I would like to point out that neither are the soaps that many people enjoy watching yet they are still enjoyed and watched by many.  This is the point for me, I enjoy watching it.  I don't really care that the end result of the match is pre determined nor does it bother me that the moves maybe pre planned, rehearsed or even in some instances [not all] simply acting.  In the same way that people get involved with the story lines on soaps, who killed so and so in this soap this week and it turns into a huge discussion, wrestling has the same appeal and involvement.

The main difference is that wrestlers really are true athletes.  If you don't believe me take a look at this Youtube video starring WWE superstar Adrian Neville [it is only 30 seconds]

To do what they do on a daily, weekly or monthly basis takes time, dedication and skill and I have a lot of respect for them, so when faced with the question 'You know it's not real, don't you' my answer is 'does it matter'

I have such fond memories of my Dad taking me to see wrestling as a child and of going again when I was older with my friends, so when I was invited to go to Leeds to see WWE live I simply could not refuse.

Our view at WWE

I went with one of my oldest and closest friends and we were both very excited when we sat in our seats and realised how close to the ring we were.  It was just like being a kid again.  The feeling of excitement and a flood of childhood wrestling memories.  We both joked that if Bret 'the Hitman' Heart, Ultimate Warrior, the Rock or Stone Cold Steve Austin walked out from behind the curtains, we would probably both burst into childish screams or at the very least start a chant.  If the Undertaker appeared I think we would have hid behind the chair.

Whilst the wrestlers themselves might have changed, the show, the energy running through the crowd and the electric atmosphere were all as I remembered from my childhood.  As I looked around I saw young children and adults all equally involved and excited by the show.  Whilst I cannot comment on the show, well I can't give away any spoilers, I can say it was truly amazing.

Watching wrestling that evening brought back a flood of wonderful childhood memories and made me feel like a kid again.  I had such an amazing evening and really enjoyed every aspect of the show.  That night WWE live did even more, it made me see the world as if I was a child again and for that I am thankful.

This day I love feeling like a kid again

I was provided with two tickets to WWE live, but was not asked to write about the show.
