This day I love.......

I used to carry my eldest daughter everywhere in her sling.  We would go for long walks together and she would spend all day with me.  I loved carrying her and loved my sling.  My youngest daughter was less keen on the sling and I could only use it on rare occasions.  Thing 3 however seems to really enjoy the closeness and wants to be picked up and held close to your chest.  I love to hold him but I also have to be able to look after the girls.

I have been searching for a sling for Thing 3.  The problem I had is with the 3 slings and carriers I currently own, Thing 3 is too small for them.  When I put him in them he becomes covered and it is just not safe, so I needed an alternative.  He is only 49cm in length even though he was born at term and still fits in newborn clothes. [0-3 months swamp him].

At a recent event I met ByKay who provided me with a sling for Thing 3.  I had never tried a stretchy wrap before and will admit to feeling a little apprehensive when I saw the length of material in front of me.  I watched YouTube videos and learnt how to tie the wrap.  To be honest it is really easy to do but I wanted to make sure I had got it right so even went to a local sling group to check the fitting.

The ByKay wrap is very stretchy and both my husband and I can wear it.  The material is soft and easy to wear.  Baby seems to be very comfortable in it.

I have full use of both arms which means I can play with the girls and Thing 3 is fully supported.  I can wear the wrap without baby in it as it is really comfortable and then when I need to I simply put Thing 3 in.  There is no waiting around as everything is ready.

I am really pleased to have found a solution so that Baby is supported and held close and that also means I can play with the girls.  I love having him close to me

Thank you to ByKay for providing a solution and allowing me to carry Thing 3.  Words in this post are my own personal opinion.

Today was my due date for Thing 3, instead they made a rather dramatic entry into the world and are now 1 week old!  I still cannot believe a whole week has gone past.

We are slowly adjusting to life with a newborn again, one who appears to be very much nocturnal.  I spend any time that baby sleeps sleeping, as things can wait for a while.  I am just trying to absorb as much newborn as I can, and whilst I can.

Thing 3 is doing really well.  The girls are simply besotted by baby and want to help with everything.  They are adjusting too, and we are trying to get things back to normal for them as much as possible.  Just taking every day as it comes.

Sleep is almost non existent, with Thing 3 sleeping for around 20 minutes and then waking to be fed for 10 minutes.  I know this won't last forever and just make the most of the newborn cuddles.

This past week has therefore been about finding our feet as a family of five and sleeping whenever we can.  Normality will return soon enough, but for now time is going far too quick and I just want to make the most of it.

This day I love the first week

We have had a new arrival over on this day I love. His name is Teksta, he is an 8 week old puppy and is suitable for the girls [aged 4 and 2].  After his journey he was a little hungry so first we had to feed him (put in two AAA batteries)

Lucky for us he is house trained and even knows a few tricks.

Teksta can sit, walk and he doesn't pull on his lead

And can even sing

He responds to a clap/noise and this makes him easy for the girls to play with too. Teksta has been so good that he even sits with our two dogs to wait for treats.

Teksta is a great addition to our house and has provided loads of entertainment for the girls.

We were sent a newborn Teksta to review. All words are my own personal opinion

As well as a mummy to my two wonderful girls I am also a very proud auntie to five nephews and two nieces.  The latest of which was born recently and I met for the first time today.

I'm not sure what it is about newborn cuddles that makes my heart skip that beat and feel that warm glow inside, I think it's the smell.  It's a smell you can't describe but it's perfect in every way and one which makes you want to protect the small person it's coming from.  I'm not sure if it's just me that feels this, if it's a mum/maternal thing or do dads or non parents feel the same?

I am not broody before anyone says I am, I'm more than happy with my girls, plus the memory of the youngest birth is still rather fresh.   Rather I just enjoyed meeting my new nephew.

This day I love newborn cuddles
