Review : the New Inn Goon Havern
Whilst on holiday in Cornwall we were treated to a lovely dinner at the New Inn in Goon Havern. The New Inn has the advantage of been owned by Park leisure, yet also retaining its roots very much as the local village pub. Iain, the new manager, very much wants the pub to retain its local roots and that is evident throughout. Not only is all the food sourced locally but the interior where possible also comes from local trade.
The New Inn is very welcoming. The warm wood burning fire creates a lovely cosy feel. I was very impressed with the layout. How each area was cleverly thought through to allow you to find your own cosy space without feeling isolated, yet still retaining privacy. The bar and restaurant are separated by clever use of glass meaning that you still feel part of each other and also in a separate area at the same time.
There is plenty of space to walk around and the feel of the room flows nicely so that at no point do you feel crowded. The décor is well thought out, creating a warm welcome atmosphere and retaining a modern yet village pub feel.
We had a very hard time choosing what to eat. The girls were well catered for which is always lovely to see. Our food arrived very fresh and hot. All sourced locally where possible and all picked for its freshness.
You could really tell the food had been prepared fresh on the premises, and it screamed good quality. Everything was simply perfect, the girls really enjoyed their food too. We could not pass up the opportunity for desert after such mouth watering delicious main courses.
The best way I think to judge how good the food really is is to see the amount of empty plates, big check on that side, and the number of smiling faces. I think its clear to see how much the girls enjoyed themselves and this was also echoed in my husband and I.
After all the delicious food there was only one thing left to do. That was to explore the wonderful play area outside. The girls loved it.
The New Inn at Goon Havern is easy to find just of the A3075. There are plenty of parking spaces, a warm friendly atmosphere and amazingly good food. I would not hesitate to go again and would really recommend a visit if you are in Cornwall.
We were provided with soft drinks and a meal to review the New Inn, all words and opinions are my own
