Spooky weekend in Whitby

Having now spent Halloween in Whitby I can safely say Halloween will never be the same again. Whitby is the go to place for Halloween, there is just something so magical about it. The streets are decorated, shop fronts all have pumpkins lit in them. The sea air adds a certain chill to the night, and there are small side streets glowing with the light from the pumpkins. All done tastefully, it is truly a unique experience.

On top of the hill overlooking the sea stands the Abbey. The dark sky illuminated with colour shining on the Abbey walls. Pinks, purples, reds. The colour changing and each time giving the Abbey and different look and feel. Highlighting features and casting shadows. Creating mystery against the black sky.

The girls were unsure which way to look, there was so much for them to take in. Little Man was fascinated by it all too. I was the same. Spending most of my time watching through my camera, taking hundreds of photos. It was just spectacular. The colours were amazing.

In addition to the illuminations you could have a photo taken with a vampire bride, meet Dracula and listen to the undertaker tell you stories of the dead. Could it be any spookier?

Illuminated Abbey has to be the best way we have spent Halloween. Whitby is the perfect location for Halloween and the illuminated Abbey was the icing and cherry on top of the cake. Definitely an event not to be missed next year!
