Review : Dolphin Kick

We were recently sent a review copy of the film Dolphin kick for an honest review post. The film is due to be released on DVD on April 1st. Dolphin kick stars Tyler Jade Nixon, Axle McCoy, Travis McCoy and has a PG rating. It promised to be a family adventure and heart warming story with heartfelt lessons about friendship, family, and environmental conservation.

The story follows 10 year old Luke Mahoney who whilst on vacation bonds with a playful dolphin called Echo. Echo has lost his way home. Their unlikely friendship and fun adventures give Luke the courage to get back into the water after the loss of his mother. Luke soon learns that Echo has a family of his own to find and so teams up with an ocean clean-up team to help the dolphin reunite with his missing pod.

The girls and I sat down to watch Dolphin Kick. Little Man showed very little interest but then again at 3 years old he has very little interest in films that are not cartoons. I wasn't surprised he wanted to play with his train set more and that was fine. Just me and my girls.

I am going to be totally honest and say it wasn't my kind of film. I did sit and watch it with my girls because spending time with them is more important. I do not really mind what we are watching as long as I have them. However neither of them could really get into the film, they are 6 and 8 years old. I am not sure if it was the film or that they didn't fully understand what was happening but whatever it was they wouldn't sit still and watch the film.

It therefore makes it very tricky to write a full review because I spent my time getting up and down to get the girls to sit back down with me. I am sure this is probably a really lovely film but it just wasn't one for us.
