This day I love.......: Santa Maria

This Friday 16th September marks Mexican independence day. Which gives us a wonderful excuse to have a fun filled fiesta packed full of fantastic Mexican food!

We love our Mexican food and with the help of Santa Maria are able to make quick and tasty food. Their kits contain everything needed and quick and simple instructions enabling an evening meal to be ready quickly and one the whole family enjoy together.

A family favourite has to be fajitas, the girls love they can choose how much goes into each one. My personal favourite is burrito. This Mexican Independence Day we will be having Taco along with dips. Taco are a great fun food, the girls think they are having big crisps for dinner. We like to give them a variety of options to put in their taco along with the meat. Both girls much prefer this style of eating.

Whatever your favourite Mexican food, Santa Maria have a range which makes Mexican cooking easier. What will you have this Mexican Independence Day?

The team from Santa Maria were at Britmums Live handing out fajitas kits and challenging us to tell them how we eat fajitas at home. We are huge fajitas fans in our house but we don't have a special secret recipe or an extra ingredient to add in for us the fun is the fajitas.

In our house fajitas mean family time. Everything is placed in the middle of the table and we all help ourselves, even the girls. This encourages the girls to be independent, to think about what they are eating and how much and teaches them to share.

Fajitas are also fab because we can pack them full of peppers and onions and the girls eat them! The girls like to roll up empty wrap to pretend they are pirates who 'I spy' the fajitas mixture. They help themselves to the mixture and create the wraps themselves. This helps with creativity and imagination.

While most people see the fajitas as simply a dinner in our household they are fab!

Sometimes during the week when I have picked the girls up from school I need a quick and simple solution to dinner. I just simply do not have the energy to cook and all I really want to do is sit and cuddle the girls on the sofa. With half term fast approaching I also want something quick and easy for dinner so I can spend as much time with the girls as possible. Lucky for me Santa Maria came to my rescue.

They sent me a rather lovely red box which contained everything I needed to make fajitas. A quick simple and tasty meal. We used the BBQ flavouring which contained just the right amount of spice for the girls, who loved their fajitas. Whilst I was cooking I opened the nachos and onion dip which the girls took great delight in scooping up onion dip into the middle of the nacho crisps. The onion dip wasn't too overpowering with onion and wasn't too sour. The girls and I loved it.

Fajita are really quick and simple to make and with Santa Maria providing everything I needed from wraps, to sauce all I had to do was provide the meat and cook. As dinner was easy to prepare and hadn't taken too much time there was time after dinner to have a cuddle on the sofa and watch the girls favourite film, Frozen.

What a perfect night thanks to Santa Maria. Quick and tasty food giving me time to have a snuggle with the girls before bed.

I was sent a Santa Maria box and a Frozen DVD for the purpose of review. All words and opinions are my own.
