This day I love.......

Bed time in our house has always been stressful, always been a battle and the girls fight until gone midnight every night.  It has been the same for almost 5 years.  We do have a routine and we had tried every recommendation but nothing worked.  Nothing could break the screaming and the tantrum or the general messing around.

This week something has changed and I know that by writing this post that I will jinx it but oh well.  Since returning from Britmums the girls are going to sleep in their own beds without me sitting in their rooms with them.  That is a huge achievment.  My eldest seems more content that I am not with her sister first, as she usually does less messing and falls to sleep quicker, and so goes to sleep.  I am not saying there is no playing up, of course there is they are children after all, but the playing around is minimal and for the past few nights I have had both girls asleep within an hour of them getting into bed.

I haven't really done anything different same routine and same bed time.  The thing that changed is the night I returned from Britmums my youngest said she was tired and wanted to go to bed.  I put her in bed gave her a kiss and said night and that was it.  My eldest played up quite a bit that night to the point where I took to twitter to say stop now enough.  It was the only place for me to scream [I know online and it doesn't really count].  After that though they both seem to be getting used to me not sitting with them.

It hasn't been easy for me, I miss their cuddles and I miss stroking their hair as they fall asleep.  It serves as another reminder that they are growing up far too quickly.  On the flip side, bedtime is much more peaceful and a lot less stressful.

I hope bedtime continues to be as peaceful.

This day I love bed time battle be gone

I'm not sure what's happened but my eldest has suddenly become scared of the dark. It happened one evening she did not want the light turning off. We have read books and spoke about shadows I have even let her check every where, but the fear is still there. With the big light on she refuses to go to sleep, so I needed something softer for her.

We have been sent a brother max bear night light. The light has three settings, on, off or night, in night mode the light only comes on when it is dark and stays off for 30 minutes. There is also a button allowing you to switch between colours or leave the light to alternate between colours. The nice thing about this light is it does not get hot meaning it can be taken into bed.

My eldest has the light by the side of her bed. The shape of the light is such that it is easy to carry. If she needed to get up in the middle of the night she can easily carry the light with her. This would be useful for night time potty trips. The light can also be hung over door handles too, meaning we can scare away those monsters in her wardrobe that don't like light

The Brother max Bear night light is the perfect companion for my daughter at night to help keep those night time fears away.

We were sent a brother max bear night light to review, all words and opinions are my own

Fans of Cbeebies are already familiar with Squidge.  Squidge is their companion on bed time hour and a lovable figure to all who watch him.  This familiarity can be continued at home with a lovable soft and cuddly figure for all children to enjoy.

Squidge plays the famous bedtime hour song, and even has colourful lights.  He is soft and cuddly and has become a favourite of my girls.

Squidge has come everywhere with us so far, to Grandma and Grandads house when they go to sleep and he has even travelled with us to Scotland.  I like that the battery compartment seems to be well padded so you don't really feel it when you give Squidge a cuddle.  He certainly provides comfort to both girls at bedtime.

Enter the world of CBeebies fun with Sweet Dreams with Squidge.  He’s getting tired and needs his sleep!  Squeeze him and listen as he plays the CBeebies bedtime song and watch as he glows softly in different colours, to gently soothe your little one to sleep.  Squeeze him for a second time and the music will stop and go back to the start when pressed again.  Soft and cuddly Squidge is sure to be a favourite with your little ones at bedtime!
