This day I love.......

We received a two day ticket in exchange for this post, however all words are my own opinion

Last year we attended the CBBC Summer Social at Croxteth Hall in Liverpool and had such a wonderful day that when tickets became available for this year I had to apply straight away. We were so lucky to be granted passes for both days and we began the countdown to the now called BBC Summer Social.

Saturday was billed more for the older children with acts such as Busted and Max and Harvey. With my children not really knowing who the acts were we opted to spend the day visiting the fairground rides and seeing what the Summer Social had to offer. Our first task though was getting into the festival. Given the amount of traffic it took us over an hour to get inside and I did think that there should be more traffic marshal to help ease the flow of cars. Once we were inside though it was much calmer and a really relaxed atmosphere.

We started by heading over to the first few fairground rides. All rides where you could not win a prize were included in with the ticket. We made the most of this and the lack of queues and rode the carousel a few times before taking a look in the little top.

The girls once again did not recognise the acts on the little top stage or the main stage so we continued exploring. Playing the CBeebies app, getting giddy in the fun house [twice] and then making our way to the Dr Who experience.

We had such a relax walk around the first half of the festival and as we were doing so bumped into a few characters. The day did not feel busy and given the weather we thought we would make the most of it and explore the Clangers garden. We completed the maze and did some arts and crafts and then headed over to the Bedtime story tent.

The story tent was a great way to escape a bit of the sun and have a little bit of downtime. All three children enjoyed listening to the story and it helped to calm them down before we ventured to the inflatable area.

The worlds largest bouncy castle awaited us. The queue was short and they had a system in place to let different heights bounce at different times, meaning the taller kids stayed away from the younger ones. It did mean that Little Man had to go on without his sisters, which he was a little unsure about.

Whilst his sisters were on the bouncy castle Little Man and I went on one of the fairground rides. The larger inflatable obstacle course had a really long queue so we decided to have a slush drink and ride on a few of the rides that were close by.

After all the excitement of the fairground rides and bouncing we decided to explore a little more and stumbled across the dinosaur show, it was just starting as we got there. Little Man absolutely loved it, he was giggling the whole way through. He loves dinosaurs and it was a pleasure to watch his face light up.

Day 1 was drawing to an end. We had watched all the shows we had wanted to see and rode on several fairground rides. We stayed until the very end of day one as even though it felt quiet the weather was nice and we were in no rush to return to the hotel. We took our time returning to the car and the kids even had a little play around the car as we waited for the car park to empty.

Day 2 had a very different feel to it. The audience was much younger today as the acts on the main stage were from Cbeebies and the headline was Mr Tumble. The whole day felt a lot busier and people on the whole had much shorter tempers. Perhaps due to the amount of people, or maybe the poor weather or it might have been younger children make adults much more tired. I couldn't say but I can say the day felt different.

We had to queue for longer on the rides today with the exception of the larger obstacle course. Due to the majority of children too young to go on it my daughters managed to go on several times and they loved it. I would hazard a guess that my 9 year old was probably one of the eldest children there on that day.

Given how busy it was on day 2 we didn't manage as many rides but as we had spent day 1 riding all of them we simply went on our favourite ones and rode them in between watching acts on the main stage.

We made the most of the other activities around Croxteth too and visited the farm. My youngest daughter thinks she is Dr Doolittle so she was in her element with all the animals. Taking every opportunity to hold them and cuddle them.

We headed back to the main area and bought some churros as a treat before finding a space to watch Mr Tumble. We all loved the build up to Mr Tumble. The acts seemed to build up to Mr Tumble coming on stage and Little Man loved watching his favourite acts.

Mr Tumble was utterly brilliant. I can honestly say he is an amazing children's entertainer. There were lots of songs to sing along to and some classic party songs. We were singing and dancing and generally having lots of fun.

Once Mr Tumble had left the stage the crowds seemed to ease and we went to the front to watch Hey Duggee. The weather however took a very nasty turn and it started to rain really heavy. Knowing we were parked on a field and the amount of rain coming down we decided to leave and head back to the car.

We were soaked to the skin, freezing cold and the rain was showing no signs of stopping. The car park as suspected had become a bit of a mud bath and tempers had started to show with some people who clearly had cold and tired kids in the car.

Our overall experience had been amazing. I had three very happy children who had had a fun filled weekend. We made the right choice by spending day 1 on the rides and day 2 on the shows, it worked out well for us and we experienced every area of the Summer Social. I would say for future years car parking does need looking at, it worked much better the first year and also catering. It was absolutely fantastic to have the rides included in the price as with three children it could have worked out incredibly expensive. We had a fun filled weekend, my children all had smiles on their faces and enjoyed both days and we hopefully will be able to attend again.

I bundled the kids into the car very early on Saturday. The journey to Liverpool takes around 2 hours, sometimes a little quicker, and we wanted to get there for 10. The girls did not know where we were heading, a surprise treat for them was all they knew. Little Man was, as always, just happy to be doing something.

The journey to Liverpool was for the CBBC Summer Social festival. An incredible amount of CBBC, CBeebies and music artists were lined up. Many of the music acts the girls had not heard of, we don't tend to watch many of the music programs like the voice, Britain's got talent or Xfactor, which is where many of the acts were from, but they did know a lot of the CBBC and Cbeebies stars and I was excited to see how they would react watching them live.

CBBC Summer Social was held in the very beautiful grounds of Croxteth Hall. Traditional fair ground rides scattered on the lawn along with the various stages. We took our time walking around to get our bearings before starting out on the rides.

As well as the stages were we could watch performances, the girls and Little Man were lucky enough to meet some of their favourite artists.

Mr Tumble has been a favourite of all of my children. Little Man was star struck. He watched him on the main stage. Danced around and joined in with the Hockey Cokey and was giggling all the way through. He then got to meet him and just didn't know what to do with himself, so hid!

Both my girls love SwashBuckle. They have asked several times if they can take part in the show. They watch it on repeat! Imagine their delight when they got to help Cook and Line work out who should be Captain whilst Captain Captain was away. My eldest got a bit shy when we went to meet them, but my youngest challenged them to a floss dance off. Watch the video on YouTube to see how it went!

Our final meet and greet was with Operation Ouch. I loved the live show, as did the girls. They make learning about biology and the human body fascinating and are really engaging. If you don't know who they are you really need to watch an episode! They were incredibly popular and had a huge line waiting for them, even so they took time to greet everyone and never made anyone feel rushed!

Included in our ticket was a visit to the farm. Well we could not pass up the opportunity to visit some animals. We bought a box of food and made our way around the farm. Little Man insisting on feeding everything.

It was time to take a break and chill out, eating ice cream in the sun. The grounds were beautiful and after a rest we decided to explore the walled gardens and take part in the craft activities.

There was plenty to keep us busy. We took a 'horrible history' tour of the house and learned some very interesting facts. Even spotting the finger marks in the bricks.

Our day had flown by far too quickly. We seemed to have done so much, yet only touched the surface of what was on offer. CBBC Summer social had appealed to all my children and kept us busy for the whole day. We made some fantastic memories and it was no surprise that I had three very sleepy children on the way home!

We shall be keeping a look out for tickets for next year as we would love to visit again!

Thank you for inviting us and providing us with tickets to the festival, words in this post are my own and my own opinion.

Towards the end of the school holiday my eldest daughter asked if she could go on a roller coaster before school started.  I agreed that we would go as a treat if they completed their good girls charts over the school holidays.  Both girls agreed and in the final week of the school holidays we went to Alton Towers.

The girls Grandma accompanied us, and we decided to make a day of it.

I think the last time I visited Alton Towers was before I got married and a lot has changed, the most notable for me was the addition of Cbeebies land.  It was here we spent our day and the girls made the most of the rides available.

Whilst the vast majority of rides were aimed at a much younger audience the girls still enjoyed themselves.  They loved throwing balls in Justin's House, and Little Man loved his first ever ride on In the Night garden boat.  There was a good mix of play ground, rides and interactive displays, so the girls always had something to keep them busy.

The girls even got their wish and got to ride on a roller coaster.  They even loved the fact that they could ride it on their own, and I think this added to the thrill factor.  This was something that really appealed to me, the girls were able to ride the vast majority of the rides independently.  It made them feel grown up and added to their enjoyment.  Cbeebies land is family friendly, easy to push a pushchair round, although we had chosen to use a sling and plenty of toilets.  In fact I could not quite believe how many toilets there were, it really makes a difference when you have young children.

I think we dropped on lucky as the queues seemed to be all under 20 minutes, the longest was the In the Night Garden boat ride but it is well worth the wait for any In the Night Garden fan.  Before we knew it our day had flown past.  We had rode rides, played in the playground and watched live shows and spent the entire time in Cbeebies land.  There were a couple of rides in the rest of the park I would have loved to have taken the girls onto but we ran out of time.

We all had such a wonderful day at Alton Towers that the girls have asked to go again.  They loved exploring Cbeebies land and I think if we do go again we will be exploring the rest of the park first!

We paid for entry into Alton Towers, and have not been asked to write a review

My eldest daughter had a little surprise last week.  I picked her up from school as per usual but asked her to go and get changed at school.  She was really confused because normally she gets changed at home.  I then put her in the car with her sister, which confused her even more as we always walk to and from school.  We had 90 minutes before the surprise started.

We had tickets to see Justin and friends : Mr Tumble Circus.  I had not told either girls we were going and so had a lot of questions in the car.  We arrived just in time and we took our seats.  The girls then knew were we where and became very excited.

Justin and friends

The show was everything you would expect, lots of singing, dancing and general silliness.  All good family fun and entertainment.  Mr Tumble arrived walking through the audience and the girls loved that he walked straight past us, they even gave him a wave.

Both girls loved the show and it was a great surprise for them, as well as a really nice treat.

Enjoying the show

This day I love Tumble time

We are fans of the cbeebies show Abney & Teal. The girls love Toby the dog. For those unfamiliar with the show Abney & Teal are two rag doll friends who live on an island on a lake in a park. They have lots of adventures with their friends bob, a river mammal, Toby, a dog and Neep, a turnip. The show centres around friendship.

My daughter was excited to receive one of the first Abney & Teal magazines, published by DJ Murphy, which go in sale on Thursday 23rd October. The magazine comes with some musical instrument which is in keeping with the show. Throughout the 36 pages children are introduced to the characters and there is a great sense of discovery, as well as creativity, music, literacy and activities.

The magazine is in keeping with the show and my daughter had no problem recognising the characters. She loved the activities and it kept her entertained. For £2.99 this is a lovely magazine that is paced with fun educational activities for children, as well as stories ad games. A must have for Abney & Teal fans.

Back in July last year we announced the launch of a new TV series Q-Pootle 5.  Since then Q-Pootle 5 has become a firm favourite of my girls.  Q-Pootle 5 has now been released on DVD.  Join Q-Pootle 5 and his friends Oopsy, Eddi, Stella, Ray, Groobie, Bud-D and Planet Dave for some fantastic space adventures.

The Q-Pootle 5 DVD features 13 fantastic episodes, interviews and also a smoothie recipe! There is also 'Okidoki Karaoke'.  With an RRP of £7.99 Q-Pootle 5 DVD would make a great addition for Christmas present for a Q-Pootle 5 fan.

To give you a taster of the DVD watch the short video

Alternatively if you fancy a sing along

The girls love Q-Pootle 5 and now they can enjoy Q-Pootle 5 without having to wait for it to come on TV.
