My top tip upon arrival at Butlin's is to plan your holiday. Take a moment to look through the what's on guide and highlight those activities you wish to do. We plan our break around the skyline gangs shows and the evenings entertainment. This way we do not miss out on anything the girls want to do or see.
The what's on guide also highlights which activities you need to ore book and it is worthwhile doing this ASAP, as we tried to book an activity after dinner on our first night and it was already fully booked. Also make sure you leave plenty of time for any evening or skyline gang shows as the do fill up quickly so by getting there early you can get a better seat.
Our girls are huge skyline gang fans. They sing the songs when we are at home and often ask to watch them on YouTube. The Skyline gang are bright, colourful and fun entertainers. Each member appeals to a different child, thanks to their individual personality and styles. My eldest loves Candi and my youngest loves sprout. With both of them having a soft spot for rainbow the dog. The shows will have the kids entertained from start to finish and they will become fans even if they have never seen them before.
There are a wide variety of entertainment on throughout the day. The puppet castle shows keep even the youngest entertained, but the pavilion is host to many other shows. As well as character performances from the likes of fireman Sam, Angelina ballerina and Bob the builder, the stage also hosts wrestling, magic shows and children's entertainment.
What makes our Butlin's holiday is the evening entertainment. We plan our evening meal around this show, often watching more than one in a night. Aladdin rocks was our first evening show and was a performance the whole family enjoyed. The show had a true family entertainment feel to it, not quite a pantomime but still featuring a lot of the family fun a pantomime would bring. A magical flying carpet and a rock guitar with fire are some of the high end magic within the show.
Dick v Dom was another one of our favourites. Having no idea what to expect we entered with no preconceptions and just hoping for a good time. The boys did not disappoint. Pies were thrown, water pistols fired and rubber dolls flung into the audience. Comical timing to a fine art and the whole room was in fits of laughter. The girls were on their feet dancing and singing, and got very competitive in their Dick or Dom teams. This was family entertainment at its best, and a show we would love to see again.
Each Butlin's break has its own entertainment schedule, we were on a Dick and Dom weekend but previous there had been horrible histories and diversity. This is what makes Butlin's truly spectacular is the high quality and variety in their entertainment. Every break is therefore different and it is worth checking to see who will be performing when you book.
