This day I love.......

The weekends are perfect for spending time with your family.  Especially when it has been a while since we all last saw each other.  An invite popped into my inbox 2 weeks ago and it gave us the perfect opportunity to meet up as a family.

Dalesway Brewers Fayre Pub Restaurant Would Like To Invite You And Your Family To The Grand Opening Of Its Brand New 'Play At Brewers Fayre' Area

Dalesway confirmed that I could bring not only my husband and children, but also my sister in law and her family and my parents in law.  The girls were incredibly excited to be able to see their Grandparents and their cousins and hardly slept with excitement.

We arrived at Dalesway Brewers Fayre and after having a drink the girls headed straight for their face painting.  Of course the only thing that my eldest wants painting is Frozen.

patiently waiting for her face painting Frozen face paint

After face painting it was time to play in the new Beano themed play area.  The girls ran off happily playing and I of course had to have a go on the slide.

The play area has three distinct areas, a toddler zone with lots of beanbags and a curly slide

Blue curly slide

A larger general play area which both girls loved, this had the pink slide in.  The final area is to the left on the corner and consists of hanging monkey bars for the slightly older kids to play on.  As the play area is new everything was clean and tidy.  There were plenty of chairs and tables and an area to buy drinks from.  The Beano themed play area didn't just stop with the play area it even continued into the carpet which I have to admit to wanting!

Beano Carpet

After 2 hours of playing and running around with their cousins it was time to unwind before dinner.  What better way to do this than with a Beano mask to colour in and a Beano activity book.

Pre dinner activities

The food was what you would expect from a Brewers Fayre, typical pub food and having eaten at other Brewers fayre I find it interesting at how the quality and presentation of the food differs between each Brewers Fayre.  All I can say is if you have had a bad experience at one don't let it put you off visiting another.  It was really great to be able to have dinner together as a family and of course every bodies favourite was desert.

Kids ice cream

There was time for one last quick play after dinner before heading home.  The girls loved spending time with their Grandparents and cousins and it was great to be given an opportunity for us to all get together.

This day I love it's a Family Brewers Fayre.

The girls wanted to do some baking and I had found some Olaf cookie cutters.  We decided to build a snowman.  The girls made some biscuits and used the Olaf cutter to cut them out, then coated them in icing to make them white like snowmen.

Making icing

Rather a lot of the icing seemed to get eaten which meant our snowmen did not get covered, but there was just enough to stick on our Olaf paper.

Olaf cookies

The girls had a lot of fun making Olaf cookies.

It was then time to get ready to go to a Frozen birthday party, with of course Elsa as special guest.

Elsa party

The party had face painting which my eldest was excited about, take a look whose on the decks behind her

With most girls wanting butterflies, fairies, frozen and Princesses, my eldest was more in the festive spirit

We headed off down into the deep dark woods [Lightwater valley to you and me] in search of the creature with the orange eyes and turned out toes.  We looked all over and then we saw him sitting on a bench, waving.

The youngest wasn't too sure and just wanted a drink

My eldest decided that she wanted to be a Gruffalo and we headed in search of face paining

The Gruffalo and Mouse were now ready for an adventure.

They followed the clues and found all the letters, hidden all over the park.  They made masks and coloured in in the Gruffalo marquee.  The Gruffalo even went on some rides

The mouse wasn't as keen

The mouse was more excited about watching the live story telling of the Gruffalo

After all the excitement it was time to head home, but not without little Gruffalo giving big Gruffalo a high five

Gruffalo and Mouse sat very patiently waiting for the train home, well it wasn't too long to wait

The busy day could only lead to one thing, sleepy mouse and a sleepy Gruffalo

This Day I love the mouse and the Gruffalo

The day before my eldest started school I took her to London for the day.  She loves the train and it was a great way to spend some time just the two of us.

We arrived in London after an early start and my eldest helped to locate where we were going.

Our first stop was the British museum.  Having never been before I was quite surprised at the size of it.  I also loved the way modern and old architecture came together.

I was not too sure how my eldest would feel about the museum, as she had never been to one.  We were about to try the new Gamar app.  The app aims to create a fun learning experience by bringing culture to life.  The idea is simple, hold a tablet or smart phone device in front of the object and watch it come to life.  Complete challenges and puzzles and by doing so increase your knowledge and understanding.

My eldest and I took part in the 'A gift for Athena' game which saw us completing challenges about the Parthenon temple.  We learnt a lot about ancient Greece and it was a lovely way to learn more about the statues in the museum.

My eldest was a little tired and although she could not read the story I could read it to her and she helped me complete the challenge.  Afterwards she did tell me she enjoyed the game and wanted to play again.  It was great to watch things come to life on the screen and have the ability to interact with the exhibits.  I think the app is more suited for children over 6, but my eldest at 4 still enjoyed herself.

After playing in the museum we headed for some lunch before having a walk along the Thames.  We were invited to attend the Bugaboo Bee 3 launch party and it was a nice way to do something a little different.

My eldest began by sitting down and colouring.  I think she needed the break from the walking and it was nice to sit down and relax.

She was served some lovely milkshake and loved that she could eat and drink what she liked.

For as long as I can remember she has wanted her face painting like a mermaid.  The face painter had not done one before but kindly accepted the challenge.

My daughter was incredibly pleased with the results.

We had a lovely play with all the Bugaboo range.

My eldest really loved the bee3 and pushed it around.  At one point she wanted to get in.  The bee 3 has a new carrycot, new extendable sun canopy, new harness, new under seat basket and new fabrics and colours.

It was a lovely day and was really great to spend the day doing something different with my eldest before she starts school.  There was only one thing left to do before we went home and that was to watch the world pass us by.

This day I love Augmenting the bee in the city
