This day I love.......

I think the first week of this New Year has been quite tough on us all.  It is difficult getting back into a routine, the 6am starts accompanied with the dark and cold mornings are simply not helping.  My youngest comes home from school and spends the afternoon cuddled up with me on the sofa.  She is simply too tired to do anything else.  My eldest comes home from school and pretty much does the same thing.

We then have over tiredness at bedtime, which results in both girls not wanting to sleep and it taking a long time before either of them falls to sleep.  The week is then one vicious cycle of tiredness, with nothing much achieved.

A relaxing weekend would have been want we all needed, to refresh and recharge.  Unfortunately the girls had 3 parties to go to between them on Saturday.  I am not complaining they had parties, far from it as I love they have lots of friends.  Rather that we could have done with a lie in and a lazy Saturday.

Sunday saw my youngest attend another birthday party and once again a busy rushing around morning.  After the party we made the most of the dry Winters day and spent time exploring the garden.

The girls made the most of the time in the garden, making mud pies and playing on the swings.  The winter sun seemed to spark something in J as he had a sing in the middle of the garden, that or he was calling the squirrel down from the tree.

I think we all needed the time outside in the fresh air.  Time outside just to feel the sun on our faces, especially after all the rain over the past few days and time to stretch our legs outside.  It might not have been the lazy weekend we needed but Sunday afternoon helped to recharge our batteries ready for the week ahead.

Sorry this post is a little late.  The girls decided not to settle until 1.30 last night as a result a tired Mummy thought that bed was a fitting option as we had had a lovely day out and it was needed.  As a result I am writing the post now and will write today's a little later on.

We spent the day at the butterfly house in Sheffield.  It is a great place with lots for children of all ages to see and do.  What makes it really special for us is that they always decorate the whole place so nice dependant on the time of year.  We happen to go quite a lot as both girls really love it.  At Halloween there were skeletons and ghosts, lots of flags for the Queens jubilee but my favourite time of year to go is at Christmas for the Christmas tree.

I would love to be able to decorate my tree like it.  My eldest was mesmerised by it and we had to keep stopping to look so she could sit under it.  Once we had managed to get her to leave the tree we went into the butterfly house where there is a huge variety of animals.  Its also lovely and warm in there so gave us a chance to warm back up.

I love watching the ants busy carrying leaves and also trying to find the two iguanas that live in there.  They are usually up in the roof.  My daughters like to watch the birds and butterflies fly past.  Once thoroughly warmed back up again we ventured outside to see the farm animals and the Meerkats.

I really love the variety of animals that they have.  Every time we go there seems to be something new.  To finish our day I always let my girls have a play in the playground that's there.

It really was a lovely day out and we shall be going again soon.  There is so much for the girls to do and so much more as they get older too.

This day I love Butterflies.
