This day I love.......

If you read my post 29th, you will know I was really hoping for Thing 3 to arrive on this date.  As it is I am able to write a 39 week update.

It has been one of those strange weeks.  I fitted all the car seats, tidied the house and generally enjoyed time to myself.  Even making  a massage appointment for this week.  Both dogs now seem protective and have a need to be with me.

Bump is 2/5 engaged and still following the growth curve.  Although whilst the midwife was measuring, baby kept wiggling which altered the shape and size of bump.

I generally feel ok, just swollen legs.  I am trying to make the most of the time left.  Thing 3 seems happy which is what matters.

This bump photo is at 38wks+6days, the day things changed.

At 38wks and 5days I was admitted to triage, they suspected my waters had broke but could not be certain.  No contractions but they confirmed I had lost my plug.  Baby also gone back to back.  Spent the day trying to get baby to turn.

38wks and 6days at 6pm contractions start every 4 minutes but are not too strong and at 11.30pm have stopped.  Heavy bleeding starts.

39wks admitted to hospital with irregular contractions that are very strong but short lasting and heavy bleeding.  Baby is checked and said to be fine but fully engaged, back to back.  I am discharged at 10.30 am and told to come back if my contractions become regular, every 2-3 minutes and last more than 45 seconds.  My contractions never became regular and I did not go back into hospital.  We left the hospital confused.

J has been very protective of me this week.  He does not like it when I am not in his sight, and has started dragging his bed with him as he follows me around the house.  When I sit still he puts his head on my lap, as if he is listening to Thing 3.

J and bump

I now only fit into Jogging bottoms, or PJ.  My legs are getting more and more swollen and my knees are around 4 times their original size.  Bump has also dropped which means my tops also no longer fit and my coat will not fasten, but at this point it seems very little point to shop for more maternity clothes.

Bump at 38 weeks

Thing 3 seems to be getting more active, or I am just able to feel more of their movements.  Sitting for too long makes my legs go numb due to the size of the bump and I also find standing for long periods painful.  I am getting a lot of lower back pain recently, and more frequent Braxton Hicks.

It seems scary to think that the most I have left is 4 weeks.  As labour draws closer I keep having flash backs to my previous labours which is making me nervous.  I am starting to get scared which is not a good thing.  I am doing the best I can to put myself in a more positive mindset.

The girls seem to have ramped up their excitement this week, as in their heads baby is coming in March.  They have worked out it is March next week and so to them baby is coming next week.  I am starting to wonder myself when baby will arrive.  My eldest arrived at 39 weeks and my youngest a day late, so it really could be any day.  I would like to do another bump update, as I am not sure I am quite ready just yet!

Having been told that I am not allowed to go over my due date there are at most 5 weeks to go until Thing 3 arrives.  I am feeling quite emotional at the moment by this fact.  Having no plans to have another this will be my last baby, unless nature decides otherwise, and so am trying to make the most of every little thing.

I can no longer see my feet, or anything that is on the floor.  The girls find this funny and keep putting things on the floor which I fall over.  J has become very protective and has to know where I am all the time.  Spotty dog is less interested.

J with Bump

I had my routine midwife appointment this week.  Thing 3 heart beat is still at 140 and it was wonderful to hear as always.  Thing 3 still does not like to be touched so will constantly kick anything that is put near to them, including the monitors.  I was told baby is 3/5 engaged and that bump has dropped.  I am feeling on the large side and do feel as if the bump is low.

bump at just over 34 weeks

My legs are still swollen, as are my feet and ankles.  They no longer look like my legs or feel like my legs.  I was placed on an open appointment at physio, meaning I go if I need to, as there is nothing further they can do until baby arrives.  I am continuing with my exercise and seeing slow improvements but as bump gets heavier I am aching a lot more.

As bump has dropped it also means more frequent bathroom trips, especially during the night.  Heartburn is also increasing at night and is worse if I sleep on my left side.  Braxton Hicks is in full swing, regular and strong as if my body is getting ready.  With such a low bump I also no longer fit into any of my clothes, if I could I would spend all day in my PJ as they are the most comfortable

35 week bump

I have a scan at 36weeks to check the growth of Thing 3.  I am looking forward to seeing them again and my current guess is that Thing 3 is around 6lbs8oz we shall see if I am correct next week!

Cannot believe we have at the most 5 weeks to go!

Before Christmas March seemed an eternity away.  In my mind I was having a baby in 2016, which may sound silly but it was all happening next year.  We are now at next year and I have hit panic stations.  9 weeks to go, is no time at all.  I do not think I am quite ready yet.  There are still things to finish in the nursery and I have to pack my hospital bag.

Thing 3 is still measuring 2 weeks ahead and I am beginning to feel it all in my lower back.  This week Braxton Hicks have started and they have started really strong.  I hardly noticed them with the girls but for some reason they are really strong this time around.

bump 31 weeks

I have been so thankful for my dream genii this week.  I have needed the extra support at night to keep my pelvis in line and the support for my bump.  I am still in pain but seem to be coping better.  Perhaps it is because I am allowing my body time to recover from the running and walking I did, or perhaps it is due to Thing 3 moving positions, but whatever it maybe I seem to be having more good days than bad.

Having said the above the pain maybe coming and going but the tiredness seems to have returned in full force.  My energy feels depleted by mid afternoon and I do not think the cold dark mornings are helping.  My legs have swollen again, but they seem to do this in pregnancy.  We did have a scan done at the end of 30 weeks and it was so wonderful to see Thing 3.  I cannot stop looking at the photos

I need to sort a car seat for Thing 3, yes I realise I have left it rather late.  I have a couple I am looking at the moment, the Kiddy Evo Luna fix, Jane Matrix and Cybex cloud Q.  All have the ability to lie flat in the car, which is something I would love the car seat to be able to do.  I am also looking at pushchairs as I would love to start running again, as soon as I get the all clear, and would therefore love a pushchair I can take Thing 3 running with me.  Ideally a pushchair that will also be able to handle the school run and handle daily routine.

I am looking forward to finishing the nursery in the next week or so and packing my hospital bag.  I cannot quite believe we are now down to single figures and there are only 9 weeks to go until we meet Thing 3!
