This day I love.......

I think it is every parents worst nightmare to think that your child could get lost when you are out and about.  Older children are more capable of finding help but younger children in particular are more vulnerable.  All children go through a phase of exploring and wandering off, it is part of the curiosity of childhood but it does not stop that heart sinking moment.

Both my girls know their address and where they live but if we were on holiday they would be unsure what to do.  I guess the same applies if we were to visit somewhere for the day.  In an attempt to help reunite my girls with me, should they decide to wander or we get separated, they have both been given kooliobandz.  Kooliobandz are children identity wrist bands and come in a variety of sizes.  They are fully waterproof and skin friendly.

The wrist bands provide complete anonymity and work 24/7 in any country and any language.  Each wristband features a web address and a unique code.  If a child is found the person who finds them goes to the website and enters the unique code, which then sends a message to your phone.  The code on the wrist band is completely random so cannot be guessed and the site holds only your mobile number and one alternative number, meaning there is no identifying information.

Kooliobandz charge no subscription fee, so you only pay for the price of the band (9.95euros for 2 bands).  You do need to visit the site to register the band to your child.  For every purchase of a Kooliobandz 45p is donated to Make a Wish.  They are available to purchase both online at Kooliobandz website and from Boots.

Make a Wish are a charity which grant magical wishes to children and young people with life-threatening conditions.  These wishes can be anything from meeting a hero, to a holiday to simply being a princess for a day.  Granting these wishes give the child and their family much needed family time away from the daily struggles faced with such serious conditions.

Kooliobandz are such a simple idea to help reunite a child if lost.  The girls love to wear their wristbands and I have peace of mind knowing I can be contacted should they get lost, no matter where we are in the world.  It is also wonderful to know that each Kooliobandz are helping to support granting wishes for children and young people with life threatening conditions.

Thank you to Make a Wish for sending a Kooliobandz for each girl in exchange for this post, all words are my own opinion.

I haven't written our Christmas post up as I wanted to do something special.  My eldest daughter was given a camera for Christmas last year and she simply loves taking photos.  She seeks every opportunity to take a photo, either with my phone, tablet or her own camera.  I thought it would be nice to record her memories of Christmas 2014.

When I first logged onto Twinkl I was impressed with the colourful easy to use layout.  Not familiar with Twinkl, it took me a matter of seconds to work out how to navigate the site but more importantly understand Twinkl and what it is all about.

Twinkle Site

Twinkl is an on line educational resource, which focuses on EY, KS1 and KS2.  There are over 60,000 beautiful hand drawn resources that are used in educational settings not only in the UK but around the world.  There are an additional 10,000 resources available with the Premium service which costs £29.99 a year.  This really is a fantastic price for such beautiful educational resources.

There are a great selection on resources including Classroom signs, Classroom Management, Numeracy and Literacy but the one I was particularly interested in was Parents.

My eldest daughter can currently recognise around 15 letters of the alphabet but a couple she mixes up, b,p,d,q in particular as they all look similar.  I was really impressed with the letter formation poster, which is part of the premium service, as it clearly and colourfully shows how each letter is formed.  This will help my daughter to clearly visualise the formation on each letter to help her recognise more letters.

There is even an entire section, in the parental resource, dedicated to Confusing letters.  I have downloaded the confusing letters desktop cards as I love the way they use images to explain the letters and the letter order.  Each image is beautifully illustrated that it makes educating a little one a real pleasure.

With the current snowy weather, I wondered if Twinkl had any resources available to teach my daughter about the snow.  I was surprised to find that not only did they have a whole section focused on Winter but also other special themes including the Chinese New Year.

Within the Winter resource section I found some Arctic Animal Posters, which the animals are really cute and my daughter will love.  I also found a role play section.  There are some amazing creations in here but my two personal favourites which I shall be doing with my children are design your own winter clothes and the Arctic role play masks.

I am so impressed with the amount of tools available on Twinkl, each one is beautifully created and it is more than worth signing up to the premium service, to access the additional resources.  I love that there are tools available for parents and not just those in a classroom environment.  Twinkl really is a beautiful and amazing tool that aids any child's development, I wish it had been available when I was little.

I have family all over the world and also all over the UK. Family is very important to me and I would love to see more of them and they want to see more of the girls growing up. This often involves lengthy emails with pictures attached or pictures shared on other social networking platforms. I am careful however about the pictures I place on these and its not the same as having an album to store all our pictures and videos of the girls as they grow up that family and close friends can view.

23Snaps is a private social networking tool which lets you capture, cherish and share the special moments in your child's life. I was particularly excited to use this as, as previously mentioned, it would be great to share our photos and videos with our widely spread family.

The application is free to download which is a great bonus and currently available for iPhone and iPad with the Android app due for release next week. There is also the online web version which is again free to use.

One of the features that I particularly like is that you create each of your children their own page. On this page you can look at photos or videos, which are displayed in pin style, in chronological order. You are able to enter a text update, so for example when they take their first steps or their first tooth can be recorded. The thing I really like within this is the function to enter a measurement such as height or weight. I'm often asked how much did she weigh when she was 6 months and now I can find out.

The app is smart enough to work out each child's age to month and day and so when a photo is entered it displays this data along with the date on each picture. You are therefore able to create for each of your own children a personalised story of their childhood. Family and close friends can comment on your pictures enabling a sense of 'being there' even when far away.

This functionality alone is brilliant; my family can see at a glance all the key milestones of my children's development and see how they are growing. There is no more guessing how old was she at Christmas, at what age did she take her first step, its all there for us to see at a glance.

I found the application very easy to navigate through and easy to use. There is a news feed which shows as it would suggest a collection of what has happened, again in chronological order. It was great to see the removal of duplication as I could enter my husband and the application records him as my partner, enabling us both to edit our children's pages. You also have the option of viewing the news feed in calender mode, so if like me you have taken a picture of your children almost every day, you can see throughout the month how they have changed.

I absolutely love this application my family have already started using it and there is not much more I can say about it other than to try it yourself, its free and its a fantastic way to cherish those moments that go all too quickly.
