This day I love.......

My husband and I always buy gifts that we need, and with our anniversary close to Christmas and my husbands birthday straight after Christmas often the gifts for Christmas are joint presents for birthday or anniversary.  We prefer to do things this way as it means we can give each other more expensive or luxury items.

I have asked my husband this year for a new phone.  After the very grainy images my current phone took of my son when he was born and its inability to focus I have got too frustrated with it and would like a new phone.  My husband would like a watch, one he can wear to work and for special occasions.

In my research to find him the perfect watch for Christmas [and his birthday] I have come across a company who sell second hand omega watches.  Omega is one of the industries leading timepieces and a brand that can be trusted.  They also place a huge emphasis on performances.  Looking through the collection I can see that there are savings of around 70% and there are a few I would love to buy for my husband.

My favourite from the collection is this one

The watch meets my husbands requirements that it can be worn for work and also for special occasions.  Personally I think it is a timeless piece that will match any outfit and one with a touch of class.

Do you do the same as my husband and I and have joint birthday/Christmas presents?

This is a featured post.

This weekend we celebrated my Dads birthday.  The girls wanted to make him a special cake for his birthday something a little bit different and so we decided to make a warming Winter salted caramel tart.  There was however a very special twist, we would be using Monty Bojangles truffles.

We had never had Monty Bojangles before and were hit with a gorgeous luxurious chocolate smell when we opened the foil packet.  In the interest of testing we had to sample a few of the truffles.  They simply melted in the mouth.

It was soon time to start baking, we followed the recipe sent from Monty Bojangles and I helped the girls melt the chocolate but they managed most of the recipe by themselves.

Our tart did split a little and may not have looked the prettiest but it smelt heavenly

We attempted to make some chocolate marbled custard to go with the tart but it did not come out too well.  The girls got a bit excited with the mixing.

The Warming Winter salted caramel tart was perfect with a Monty Bojangles Hot chocolate

Monty Bojangles by themselves would make a lovely gift.  For something really special use them in cooking and make a really tasty treat!

A few months ago I began redesigning our master bedroom. I touched upon the furnishing ideas in an earlier post which you can read about here. We wanted a modern bedroom but one which was also relaxing. Originally we wanted to split the room so the top half became a walk in wardrobe but after consultation with Kilner bedrooms decided that this would leave a very small master bedroom and so instead opted to install a fitted wardrobe across the full length of the room instead.

This is how the room looked before we started

We designed our wardrobes with an oak interior and gave the outside a modern black mirrored finish. We had full control over the design and installation only took one day. We are so pleased with the overall look and finish and how much storage we have, we also cannot believe the price as it was a lot cheaper than we had been quoted else where.

The rest of our bedroom has been designed around this wardrobes. JYSK kindly sent us a super king size bed and mattress tor review, which you can read about here. I love having a super king size bed and cannot believe how much more space we have. If you have the space I would certainly recommend having a super king size bed! We purchased two memory foam mattress toppers from JYSK as the mattress was a little springy for our taste, and these are fantastic and really made all the difference. The bed is big enough to accommodate all four or us and bump and it's the perfect place to relax on a Sunday morning.

To match our bed we also have a chest of drawers and bedside table from the same range from JYSK. you may have seen on my Instagram feed my assembly of them a few weeks ago. When I look at them I cannot believe that I built them. The instructions were easy to follow and it took me a while as the pieces were heavy to move.

They look the same as the ready assembled solid wood, although all the pieces were solid wood so I can see why. In fact I could not believe how thick some of the pieces were. Really excellent quality at a great price.

To finish off the bedside cabinets we have some beautiful touch lamps from lighting majestic. I have mentioned the lamps in this post, but now they are in place they really have added a touch of luxury to our bedroom. The three light settings are perfect for early morning starts or can be used to light the room fully. The room has really been transformed.

We opted for a Roman blind from Hilary's to finish the room, instead of curtains. We felt this gave a much more cleaner modern look and love how it fits in perfectly. We wanted a subtle pattern rather than a solid colour just to break the room up slightly, and am so pleased with the overall look and feel of the room. Really quick and simple to install with everything we needed provided.

The quality is fantastic and has really added to the luxury feel of the bedroom. Hilary's have even thought of children and safety in their designs and comes supplied with a cord that fastens to the wall. By pulling the chain tight and securely fastening to the wall this way it stops the kids getting tangled in the chain. It is also slightly behind our blind so it is not in an obvious way for the kids to discover and play with.

There is only one more job to do to finish the bedroom and that is to paint the walls. I have chosen a light grey colour for the walls, but our paint has been on order since September. I did want to wait to publish this until everything was completed, but if you keep an eye on Instagram I shall show you the room fully painted.

We really love our master bedroom and feel we have created a touch of luxury on a budget!

The MaByLand Comfort carrier comes in a choice of 3 colours, chocolate brown Midnight black and shimmering gold.  We were provided with chocolate brown to test as part of the focus group for MaByLand new range.

The comfort carrier carries babies in an ergonomic seated position.  It also provides the baby with back support and a head rest.    The child/baby is always carried facing the parent.  The carrier is suitable from 3months - 3 years [5Kg - 15Kg].  I found that my eldest daughter who is almost 3 did not want to sit in the carrier as she wanted to face the other way.  My youngest daughter was very happy to sit in the carrier up until around the time she could walk, when she just wants to walk everywhere.  Neither of which is down to the carrier more the Independence of my children.  I could still get both children into the carrier as there is adjustable leg room and easy front and side adjustments.

The comfort carrier has an adjustable padded waist belt and I also found the padded shoulder straps to be wider than previously used carriers which gave extra support and comfort.   When I first used the carrier I did find it uncomfortable to wear, but the more I wore it the more it moulded to my shape.  This meant I soon had an incredibly comfortable carrier that provided the perfect fit.  The carrier is very easy to adjust when it is on.

[Apologies for the snow pictures I have been meaning to write the review for some time]

excellent back supportadjustable side straps

padded strapseasy to reach buckles

comfort carrier support

I love the amount of padding on the carrier.  The head support for the child is also great as this is sometimes lacking in other carriers.  The storage pocket on the front is very useful and is lovely and deep.  It does fit a packet wipes and a nappy. One of the other great features of the carrier is that it comes with a blanket which easily clips onto the carrier and goes all the way round the child giving extra warmth and protection in the cold.

MaByLand comfort carrier

The MaByLand Comfort Carrier is priced at £84.99 which given the amount of padding and extra features make it a good purchase.  It did take the carrier a little time to mould to my shape in order to give the comfortable perfect fit, but it did get there and it was really comfortable to wear.  If you are looking for a good quality, well supported and comfortable carrier than I would recommend the MaByLand Comfort Carrier.
