This day I love.......

Last night was a bad night, the girls were up until gone 11. Running around, screaming, fighting and generally making noise.  The dogs kept barking from all the commotion upstairs and Little Man just could not settle.  I knew we had an early start today in order to make parkrun and had resigned myself to a generally rubbish day with tired and cranky kids.  How wrong could I have been.

After park run, which my eldest daughter finished 2nd in her age category, we had a very important place to be.  The girls completed the reading challenge over the school holidays and were presented with a medal and certificate from the Mayor.

The zebra, in case you wanted to know, is her class mascot.  She had been presented with it for getting star of the week in her class.  Her teacher said 'she had been simply amazing!' and also for doing good work in maths.  Another proud moment!

The day just got better and not to be out done by his sisters Little Man decided to get in on the action.

Only he was not content with just sitting and decided he might also like to go for a crawl too!

What a simply amazing day!!

This day I love ever so proud

I am the first to admit that my singing voice is beyond terrible and I really dislike singing in public.  When it comes to the girls though I don't mind so much as they don't judge me and they have no idea actually how bad I am.  We sing a lot of songs at home, mainly the action ones like if you're happy and you know it.  Up until today I never really thought about how much my youngest was taking in.

Me: ' If you're happy and you know it clap your hands'

Both girls clap and youngest smiles at me, I think its a one off but am smiling at her as its the first time she has ever clapped.  Both girls stop

Me: ' If you're happy and you know it clap your hands'

Both girls clap again, I am beginning to think she understands the song.  Both girls stop clapping.

Me: ' If you're happy and you know it and you really want to show it, if you're happy and you know it clap your hands''

Both girls clap and youngest smiles at me.  We all clap and shout hooray and youngest giggles.

I love how happy she was at clapping and how she clapped in the right places.  I was so proud of her for not only clapping for the first time but also knowing when to do it.  Since then she absolutely loves this new skill she has learnt so has spent the rest of the day clapping at things such as, when she ate all her dinner, and when she got ready for bed.  I just love that she has learnt something new and is proud of herself.

I can clap

This day I love if you're happy and you know it.

My husband had a rare day off work and we all went out for the day.  Our eldest was very interested in Daddies dinner

watching
She was watching rather intently at the food on the plate, a bowl of pasta and salad.  My husband let her have some pasta before getting up to very kindly get me my salad.  Slight mistake on his part as whilst he was gone she saw her opportunity to have a bit more pasta
stealing dinner

She only had the one piece and then said 'Thank you Mummy', which made me smile.

I felt even more pride when our dinner was brought to us and placed on the table she said thank you to him for bringing her lunch.  This was the first time she had said thank you to someone who she had never met before, for fetching food whilst out, without prompting.  I was very proud.

A further proud moment came tonight, at our first parent evening.  Its always nice to be told your children are doing well.  I have wondered for sometime if she is settling ok at nursery and tonight looking at her photos and hearing from her key worker I know she is happy.

My youngest, not to be forgotten, made me proud today too as it was the first time she had not cried when I left her with her Grandma.  A day full of firsts and a day full of proud moments.

This day I love firsts and proud moments.
