This day I love.......

We have had a rather busy day today.  My eldest however has managed to put a smile on my face.  I have just turned on my computer to begin some blogging and discovered these photos

I have no idea when she took them, I can tell it was when I was driving though.  It has really made me smile tonight, which is much needed given the tiredness.

My youngest daughter and I went to Meadowhall shopping centre and dotted around the shopping mall were lots of footprints.  Our curiosity led us to track the footprints, what could it be?

footprints in the shopping centre

We followed the footprints, they were too big to be a cat or a dog.  The wrong shape for a horse or rabbit, we kept going.  Out side the footprints led us to a big white tent, whatever the animal was it was inside the tent

The big white tent

We stepped inside the tent and were given some mouse hats.  The mouse is the scariest creature in the deep dark woods.  The tent was home to the deep dark woods, and we were going to take a stroll through the deep dark woods.

We [the mouse] took a stroll through the deep dark wood, a fox saw the mouse and the mouse looked good.  The fox came out from the deep dark wood, he sniffed us and looked, then invited us for tea, it was very kind of him but we had to follow the footprints.  An Owl and a snake invited us too but we had to know what had left these footprints.

Deeper into the dark woods we went.  Listening to stories and watching the story unfold, until out from a tree we found the answer to who had left the footprints.  He had terrible tusks and terrible claws and terrible teeth in his terrible jaws, he had knobbly knees and turned out toes and a poisonous wart at the end of his nose, his eyes were orange and his tongue black and there were purple prickles all over his back, oh help, oh no we found a Gruffalo!

Gruffalo experience

Out of the deep dark woods we went, happy we had found who had left those footprints around Meadowhall.

Thank you to the team at Meadowhall for giving us the first tour of the Gruffalo experience, we have not been asked to write this post.

I think we all have silly days.  Those days when you just need to unwind and release a bit of excess energy.  My eldest was having on of those days and her way to express her silliness was to play around with my camera.  I have rather a lot of photos of her doing this

Her expressiveness continued when we got inside and found her trying on my knee length boots

It certainly was one of those silly days

J loves snow.  He is happy rolling in it, chasing it and eating it.  He just loves snow

Spotty dog has never seen snow before.  We let her out whilst is was snowing last night, but she didn't seem at all bothered.  This morning she discovered that she could eat snow and so spent most of the morning running round to eat up the snow.

Having spent all morning out in the snow the girls needed to warm up.  We decided to go inside and make some of our Nutella brownies.

My youngest seemed to really enjoy baking with Nutella, although more of it seemed to be eaten than used for brownies.  We decided to add in some crushed ginger biscuit so give it a richer taste.  I think my eldest just wanted to hit the biscuits with the rolling pin [Yes that is a spotty dog trying to help with the baking]

We got creative with our brownies and turned them into cups.  It seemed fitting with it cold outside to have some hot chocolate and this seemed a fun way to warm up.  By placing an empty bun try inside the bun tray with brownie mix in, the brownie cooks round the outside creating a cup shape.

The brownies made a great cup shape, but we had to be careful to remove the top tray in case it had got stuck.  I tidied up the edges before removing them from the tray.

I decided to add a ginger biscuit onto the bottom of each cup, just to give it a bit more stability.  I stuck it on using the gooey off cuts from the edges.

Our cups were now ready for our hot chocolate.

I decided to treat the girls to some of the new Gü hot chocolate.  Gü Puds have recently launched a new range of Gü hot chocolate.  The Gü hot chocolate comes in a 750ml carton and is priced at £1.99.  The Gü hot chocolate can then be enjoyed cold or warmed in the microwave for hot chocolate.  I warmed it a little for the girls and sprinkled some marshmallows on top.

The girls loved their warming treat, perfect for the snowy weather.

After they had warmed up it was back outside to play in their sledges.

We had lots of fun playing in the snow and of course we had to have a sledge selfie

This day I love snow, sledges and gooey brownies.
