This day I love.......: tots100

I have sat and thought about this for some time, Describe your perfect Christmas day. Hmmmm.

.....

Hmmmmmm.

Yes I am stuck.

You see here is the thing, I will confess to be the worlds Biggest Scrooge.

I know why but that's for another day.

So as the Worlds Biggest Scrooge let me show you my Perfect Christmas Day.

In the past my perfect Christmas day would have been this:

Escape from it all, nice and warm, relaxing and calm.

But Now my Perfect Christmas Day looks like this:

The best presents under my Christmas tree are two happy smiling faces on my girls.

As for the future, all I know for certain on this one is that as long as my girls are happy then I am happy too.

Earlier this year I started the BIG project which set about transforming our garden. We painted and restored the girls play house which was left by the previous owners. We made the climbing frame, safe and began painting and we added a new horse swing which the girls both love

But there is still so much we want to do. I want to make the garden a place that not only do the girls enjoy and play in but I want to encourage wildlife in to our garden. This year we set up bug hotels, and lady bird houses which seem to be working

I planted over 200 bulbs and plants. Each to attract different wildlife into the garden, Buddleia, Honey suckle, and lavatera. Each thought about to encourage wildlife. A bird table and bird bath were assembled and we have encouraged birds into the garden as well as a few squirrels.

What are the future plans? Well I have a fish pond to assemble which will form part of the sensory section of the garden. I am really looking forward to this as both girls both looking at fish and it will make a great feature in the garden. There is the food and vegetable plots to make and sew as I want the girls to learn more about growing food, as well as the herb garden to plant.

The other plan for next year is to do the inside of the girls play house. Other than a chalk board there is not much in there. I would love to get them a kitchen where they can make their perfumes and wonderful 'pies'. I also think they would love a nursery section for them to play with their dolls.

With the theme of growing our own food next year I would also really like somewhere for the girls to sit outdoors so we can enjoy our dinner outside next year.

We are very lucky with the items the previous owners left us in the garden and I hope that soon we can turn our garden into our dream garden.

I am always up for a fun challenge, and tots100 have teamed up with Walkers Hoops and crosses to do just that. I love making the girls food interesting for them, and I find that they often eat more if they are fun and interesting. I set about making this creation for my cheeky monkeys

This photo is our entry into the tots100 #hoopsandcrosses competition. I took the crosses and made some hair. I used a cookie cutter to make a jam sandwich into a perfect circle, for a face. The hoops were used for eyes. With a raisin nose and a fruit button smile added to pepper ears and cucumber grass my cheeky monkeys loved their cheeky monkey lunch!

The Tots100 monthly competition to find the next Center Parcs Family blogger is for a family fun perfect picnic. The girls and I have had a lot of fun with this competition, first there was our lets have lunch on the trampoline

This was a lot of fun. Both girls really enjoy the outdoors and to have lunch outside was great for them. We had to have it on the trampoline because if we did the traditional blanket on the floor, the dog would have eaten all our food. He is very quick and nothing would have stood a chance. Trampoline lunch are a new favourite in nice weather.

We tried on several occasions to also have BBQ, but the weather always caught us so we ended up indoors. We did however have lovely weather on my daughter first birthday were all the family came round and we all got to have a family picnic outside. I made these lovely ladybird crackers

They were very easy to do, cream cheese on a cracker with half an olive for the head of the lady bird and two quarters of a cherry tomato to make the wings. Everyone enjoyed them and and we had a great ladybird themed party.

I saw a competition on Tots100 called 'That's my hero', the competition is run in conjunction with Moneysupermarket. I have read and read the competition as I really wanted to enter but was worried my 2 year old would not understand what a hero was.

I sat down with her and asked her to draw me her hero. She looked at me confused and so I said ' draw me something you love and would like to be'.

I thought I was going to get a picture of either Sulley from Monsters Inc, Nemo from Finding Nemo or her Grandma. Instead I was rather surprised by what she drew, and for that matter impressed

This is 'Galahad' Mike the Knights horse. I love that she has clearly drawn a head and body and legs. The horse is smiling and she has drawn a seat on its back for Mike to sit on, that is those two sticking up lines.

This is Mike the Knight. She has drawn his eyes and you cannot see his face she said because of his helmet. She also showed me she had drawn his sword [the cross type shape near the red line]

Finally this is Sparkie Mikes dragon. She calls him his dinosaur but I guess to a 2 year old its the same thing. Anyway she says he has fire coming from his mouth, and lots of spikes and a wing.

When I said to her who is your hero, she looked at me and said 'Mike the Knight'. I told her that was really lovely, and was it because he was brave and kind. She said 'no' so I asked her why she had chosen 'Mike the Knight' to be her hero and her reply was ' Because he has a horse AND a dinosaur Mummy'.

Some of my favourite childhood memories are visiting Center Parcs on our family holiday. I would love to be able to give my children some of those memories also. When I heard about the tots100 challenge to win a stay at Center Parcs, I thought I had to try. All I need to do is write a poem about what I think it takes to be a good elf.

Easier said than done as my poetry skills are not that great, but I figured I would give it a go.

Here's my little poem, of sorts:

Empty mail sacks and sort out all those letters

Lovingly make the children's toys

Very carefully help Santa check the list, of naughty and nice girls and boys

Ensure the sleigh is ready to go

Spread Christmas joy to young and old
