This day I love.......

This is a paid for featured post in collaboration with Wicked Uncle. All words are my own.

Fathers day is almost here, the year seems to be racing ahead now and before we know it it will be Christmas. Dare I even mention that word six months into the year. For now let’s focus on the next event in the calendar, Father’s Day. Where in this house in particular we spend far too long hunting down the perfect present for perhaps the biggest kid of them all. The kid's Dad is a huge gamer so anything game related usually works but what about the more adventurous or for the sporty can it be possible to find a perfect Father’s day gift hidden amongst what appears to be the ordinary? There was only one way to find out, except the items I found on Wicked Uncle seem to be extraordinary. You can check out the full range over on Wicked Uncle,  but here are a few of my favourites.

Spy X - Night Mission Goggles

Now, I am not going to lie here but I would absolutely love these. I am not joking either. I mean how cool would it be to have some night mission goggles. I remember as a kid playing spies and wanting my very own pair of night goggles. These ones look really cool. They have magnifying lenses and blue light to make night time adventures even more fun. To be honest I would probably just use it for sneaking around the house so the kids don’t wake up if I put on the light but I can see they would bring a lot of fun and be an amazing present

Atomic Power Popper - Soft Foam Balls

My kids would absolutely love this. I think they would particularly like the satisfying pop noise when a ball is fired. I also think they would like that it can be reloaded easily meaning they can take full advantage for the rapid refire. They would certainly have a lot of fun with it and a perfect present for a big kid

Kelvin - 23 Tool functions in One

Every adventurer big or small needs a multi tool. One that has 23 tool functions is simply fantastic. The Kelvin features a 16-piece snap-action screwdriver, spirit level, 6ft/1.8m tape measure and there is even a  LED torch. It is lightweight and compact, small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. This really is all the tools you could require on your adventures.

Twistii - The Torch With A Twist

I had to include the Twistii. This clever little thing fits on your wrist, it comes in a variety of different colours and is a rotating wrist torch. Twistii is rechargeable using USB which is provided and will then last for 180 minutes before needing to be charged again. Twistii can be rotated 360 meaning you can direct light wherever you need it, and be hands free. I think this is perfect for any explorer.

There are so many other amazing items over on Wicked Uncle perfect for the big kids in the family too. I think I might be purchasing a Twistii as they look perfect for night runs, which are really just one big adventure in the dark!

The items mentioned in this review have been provided in exchange for an honest review. There has been no financial incentive.

Shielding has ended and the world has begun to open up slowly, which means my son now no longer has to stay in and can venture back into the world again. I have been doing things very slowly with him but trying to explain calmly to a just turned 5 year old not to touch everything and keep his hands clean is very difficult.

I want him to not think that anything is different, I don't want him worrying about the outside world but at the same time I want to keep him as safe as I can. To be fair to him he is quite good with using hand gels but I do often get screams of it's too sticky!

Canal toys create some great activity toys, and so when they got in touch to ask if we wanted to try their Anti-bacterial slime I knew it would be something all three of my children would enjoy. All three of my children [ages 10, 8 and 5] love slime and are always asking for more.

Hand with two pots of slime

My 8 year old decided to test out the slime initially before working out which pot she was going to share with her siblings and which she was keeping for herself. She settled for the red one. First test was a smell, she decided there was a little smell similar to had gel but nothing strong. She then got to playing, and was surprised it wasn't too sticky or slimy and that she could stretch and see through it.

In fact she was incredibly impressed at how super stretchy it is. She loved playing and stretching it and moving it across her hands. All the time she was playing the anti bacterial properties in the slime were helping to keep her hands clean. The slime is alcohol free and holds its anti bacterial properties for a month.

Stretching red slime

What I have noticed as we start to venture out more, is that the hand gel tends to be high up. This makes it suitable  for adult use but less convenient for children, particularly my 5 year old. The anti bacterial slime comes in light weight, small pots which means it is super easy to put in your pocket or bag and carry with you. I can say with confidence that I can always get my 5 year old to play with slime but cannot always get him to use the hand gel.

The anti bacterial slime kills 99.9% of bacteria and is the first product of it's kind. Given how child friendly it is and convenient to carry I can see it accompanying us more as we start venturing out more.

Anti bacterial slime can be purchased from Smyths Toys and Amazon and is available in single pack RRP £2.99 or 4 pack RRP £9.99

The product mentioned in this post has been gifted for the purpose of review. All words are my own opinion and no other financial compensation has been received.

Micro Motorz are a new toy car collectable. The blind bag has three chambers, highlighted with a racing 3, 2, 1 and each contain a different item. The first chamber contains a tool to go with the car and the information leaflet. Chamber 2 has a tuning accessory and finally chamber 3 contains the Micro Motorz.

Each Micro Motorz comes in a clear storage container. These can be stacked to neatly store your collection or build towers as Little Man likes to do. There are 20 cars to collect in the first series which includes six Nitro Chargerz, three regular Nitro Chargerz and three rare ones. Three regular Hot Rodz and three rare ones and finally the ultra-rare Monster Treadz.

The capsule can be adapted to to become a launcher for the Micro Motorz to launch them across the floor. At first attempt it was a little tricky to do this but once we had figured it out it is actually really straight forward.

Micro Motorz are a lovely pocket money toy and great collectable. The girls and Little Man all play with them and have lots of fun. The cars themselves are well built and I even store one in my bag for when we are out and about to keep Little Man entertained.

The girls have put together a short video of them unboxing 4 Micro Motorz, take and look and see which ones they get!

The items featured in this post were sent for purpose of review. All words are my own opinion and no financial compensation has been received.

We received a rather exciting delivery recently, a selection of toys from the new Dreamworks Spirit Riding Free Collection from Flair. My eldest daughter was very keen to open the box and review the collection. At the end of this review is a little video she made of her reviewing each item.

The Spirit Blind box are a collection of 8 mystery horses. Each figure stands at over 2 inches tall and comes packaged in a miniature barn and includes a stable. Each blind pack also contains a tick sheet so you can see which horses you need to complete your collection. Great for a treat or as a stocking filler type present. RRP £4.99

Spirit classic Horse and Stable set. The stable can be carried so that you can take the horse with you to play. Within the stable is also a stable, hay, shovel, rake, saddle, bridle, brush, tack box, and sticker sheet. The horse is 7 inch and has beautiful hair perfect from brushing and styling. The doors on the stable open also to create a large play area. RRP £24.99

Sounds and action Horse. Spirit can be posed to stand up on his hind legs like a real horse and has a button which when pressed moves his front leg and makes horse sounds. He comes with a brush so his mane can be brushed and styled.  RRP £19.99

Spirit Riding Free Doll and Horse [ We received Prudence and Chica Linda] There are 4 dolls to collect and each one comes with horse and rider. The doll stands at 13cm and has poseable arms and legs so she can ride the horse. RRP £15.99

Each of my children have a favourite from the collection. Little Man loves to carry the stable around. His imagination seems to go wild as he cleans the stable with the little brush provided and then brush the horses mane. He seems to have a real caring streak and wants to look after the horse. My youngest plays with him with the Riding free doll and horse. The doll is often found on the other horses too, and I love that they are playing with all the toys together, rather than just one. It is great that the collection works in this way, allowing the girls and Little Man to be creative and get all the toys together. My eldest likes to collect things so is currently saving her pocket money up to collect more of the blind bags.

The whole collection is well built and it is great that they can be played with together rather than individual toys. All the horses seem to visit the stable regularly! The beautiful weather has also meant that all three of my children have been outside playing with the horses on the grass. It is great that the toys are versatile to be played with both in and outside.

I think every family has traditions, or things they like to do to mark the start of the Christmas season. For some it is when they see the Coca Cola Lorry, others when the first Christmas film comes on TV and for a few people I know when it turns November 1st and Halloween is over with. For me it is a trip to Disney On Ice.

Disney On Ice seems to visit us every year towards the middle of November and it seems to get the girls into the festive mood. After watching they ask how long until Christmas and start talking more about Father Christmas and want they would like him to bring them. This week seems to have been the start of our Christmas festivities. It has kicked off with a trip to Disney On Ice at the FLYDSA arena in Sheffield.

The usual requests followed as we entered the arena. The girls wanting all the light up toys, popcorn and ice cups that were available. They settled on a crown and some candyfloss, and we took our seats waiting for the show to start. Little Man had fallen asleep in the car on the way to the arena and so was in a rather grumpy mood that he had been woken up.

The lights went down and the ice glowed with Disney magic. The girls sat forward in anticipation and Little Man soon forgot his grumpy mood. Tinkerbell appeared, which made a change from the normal opening and the show began to start.

In a break from previous shows we were treated to lots of different characters with many shorted sequences. It seemed to flow much better and keep more of the audience engaged. I have noticed in the past when some children are not particularly interested in a certain segment, be it Frozen, cars, toy story, they start chatting throughout it or parents get up to take them to the toilet whereas because each character had one or two songs this did not happen and there seemed to be a much better show.

As usual the performance was near perfection, I did notice two performers fall but it was on the section of the ice that had previously been on fire. Perhaps this area is slippy? Oh, and that was another thing about this performance there was some amazing special effects, including fire on the ice.

Little Man seemed to enjoy the show just as much as the girls and I love that there is something that can engage them all, even with their gap in ages. I just love watching their faces light up when different characters come onto the ice, that makes it for me.

The morning before Disney On Ice I had attended Dream toys which reveals the 12 biggest toys for Christmas. It is a great event where I get to chat to several people who I email throughout the year and we get to talk all things toys.

The top 12 toys this year are:

Barbie Ultimate Kitchen Mattel £49.99
Boxer Spin Master Toys £79.99
Cra-Z-Slimy Creations Super Slime Studio Character Options £29.99
Fingerlings Untamed Jailbreak T-Rex Playset Jazwares/WowWee £24.99
Harry Potter Hogwarts Great Hall LEGO £89.99
Harry Potter Wizard Training Wand Jakks Pacific £24.99
L.O.L. Surprise! Pop-Up Store MGA Entertainment £39.99
L.O.L. Surprise! Under Wraps MGA Entertainment £14.99
Laser X Twin Pack Character Options £49.99
Monopoly Fortnite Edition Hasbro £21.99
Paw Patrol Ultimate Fire Truck Spin Master Toys £69.99
Poopsie Surprise Unicorn  MGA Entertainment £49.99

My eldest has already asked for the Laser X twin pack, training wand and Hogwarts LEGO so I had a feeling these would make the list. My youngest daughter has asked for the Poopsie Surprise Unicorn and Little Man loves Paw Patrol so I am not surprised these are also on the list too.

The girls even wrote their letters to Father Christmas this week with a kit I bought from Magic Santa Letter. The kit was great and came with an addressed envelope ready to send their letters in to Father Christmas. I love doing this with the girls as it gives me an insight into what they would like. Other than my youngest request for gymnastics equipment I think we have covered most things on their wish list.

Magic Santa Letter have also kindly sent us replies from Father Christmas and I cannot wait to hand these over to the girls to read. The replies have been personalised to include things they have asked for on the letter they sent to Father Christmas, which just gives it an extra touch. Also there are several different templates to choose from so I have made sure that each of mine has a different template. Ordering them was really quick and simple to do and you can choose a date for them to arrive as well.

This past week has really seen the festive season begin. One other thing happened though which has made it feel a lot more like Christmas is on the way, the sacks for the presents have arrived.

These personalised sacks are also from Magic Santa Letter. I have personalised with the children's names, although have blurred in the photo as their names do not feature on the blog. They are simply beautiful and I cannot wait to see their faces on Christmas morning when they see their presents left in here from Father Christmas himself.

It certainly is beginning to feel a lot like Christmas

Little Tikes have recently launched a brand new STEM range of products. The STEM range takes the core educational principles of Science, Technology, Engineering and maths and turns them into hours of creative fun. Hoping to inspire the next generation of scientists and ignite a child's imagination, we were certainly keen to put the Wonder Lab to the test.

The Wonder Lab has a RRP of £99.99 and features a brightly coloured lab, where you can complete one of the 20 included experiments or one of your own choosing, a circuit centre and a ball maze. The maze can be made in 16 different combinations.

The girls, aged 6 and 8, were eager to put together their Wonder Lab and insisted on wearing their lab coats to do so. The wonder lab has two hooks on the side where they hang their lab coats when they have finished their experiments, which I find rather sweet. Lab coats were not included they had these already.

The lab requires a cross head screw driver and 3 AA batteries. The girls assembled the lab themselves apart from the screws, and we had fully assembled within a few minutes. The most difficult part was choosing which experiment to do first. The girls looked through the cards and chose slime, but I was unfortunately missing one of the ingredients, saline eye solution. They then choose vampire blood!

The instructions on the card are really simple to follow. My 6 year old daughter can follow them with ease. Colourful and clear pictures and simple steps, everything has been thought out. The majority of the experiments need house hold ingredients and those I did not have in I found in my local Asda today, so nothing obscure.

Vampire blood was a huge success. There was mixing, measuring and pouring. Both girls said it was amazing and they felt like real scientists. It is the first time as well that both of them cleared up after themselves. In fact clean up is really easy as you simply lift the purple tray out and wash in the sink.

I have lost track of the number of experiments the girls have now done with their wonder lab, but they have made me film every one they have done. Make sure you subscribe to my YouTube channel to see their experiments.

Whilst the girls love the experiments, Little Man at 2 years old has took a shine to the Wonder lab for the lights, sounds and of course the ball maze! He likes to sort the pieces into different colours, build mazes on the board for the ball to follow and his favourite is turning the dial in the circuit centre to change the colour of the lights! It would appear I now have three budding scientists thanks to the wonder lab for inspiring them and making science fun!

The wonder lab was sent for review, all words are my own opinion
