This day I love.......

My eldest was very lucky to start school with one of her best friends from pre school.  Her pre school was not attached to her school, so it was nice that there was someone there she knows.  What is also great is her friend lives around the corner.

We had a nice walk over there this morning and the girls spent the day playing.  As it was not raining this gave us a great opportunity to have a Friends and Family outdoor fun day.  The girls practised their skills with the egg and spoon race

Followed by lots of giggles with a three legged race.  We had Mummies Vs Girls, Family Vs Family and Sisters Vs Friends.  It was a lot of fun and lots of giggles.

Our final game was throwing bean bags as far as we can and of course some running!

After all that playing it was time to head over to the park and play on the swings.

A great way to end a great day playing with friends.

This day I love playing with friends.

I remember the first time I sat either of my girls in the seat in the shopping trolley.  They looked so small and I kept having to re adjust them in the seat so they would not slip out.  The same was with swings.  This worried me more especially when they were really little.

Bumfy is a comfortable seat for babies that would have been the solution to my problems.  It is made from 100% cotton and is machine washable, making it perfect for high chairs.  It comes in a very easy to carry shoulder bag, that makes it perfect for taking out with you.

Bumfy acts as a nest and gives extra support around your child when in swings, trolleys and chairs.  The bright patterns and colours would also keep little ones entertained.  My youngest at nearly 2 years old is probably at the top end of the age range of use for Bumfy, however I can see several advantages.

Other than the obvious use for Bumfy, another great advantage would be when the seats are wet.  My children love to play outdoors and would often get frustrated when they could not play on the swings because they were wet.  Bumfy would have been a great solution, as they could sit on the comfy Bumfy seat.  They would have been clean and comfortable and would have had the extra support they needed.

When we needed a highchair at restaurants they are often not the cleanest.  Bumfy would provide a great hygienic solution.  Place baby in Bumfy in the highchair and it would not matter.  Neither of my girls are in highchairs any more but this would have been great.

Bumfy is really easy to attach and I could do it one handed.  Place into the trolley/swing/high chair and hook the hoop on the front and back.

Bumfy can then be turned over the top of the trolley/swing/chair, and your child can be strapped in using the built in harness.

Bumfy Harness

I found Bumfy really easy to install and very well padded.  The patterns are really colourful and very eye catching.  We used Bumfy in a trolley and my youngest was very secure.  As she ate food on the way round the shop, Bumfy caught all the crumbs.  I found Bumfy very easy to clean, I simply placed in the wash and it dried very quick.

I can think of only one problem with Bumfy and that is that my youngest has almost out grown it!  I wish I had found it sooner.

I was provided with a Bumfy for the purpose of review, all words are my own.

Earlier this year I started the BIG project which set about transforming our garden.  We painted and restored the girls play house which was left by the previous owners.  We made the climbing frame, safe and began painting and we added a new horse swing which the girls both love

swing

But there is still so much we want to do.  I want to make the garden a place that not only do the girls enjoy and play in but I want to encourage wildlife in to our garden.  This year we set up bug hotels, and lady bird houses which seem to be working

lots of ladybirds

I planted over 200 bulbs and plants.  Each to attract different wildlife into the garden, Buddleia, Honey suckle, and lavatera.  Each thought about to encourage wildlife.  A bird table and bird bath were assembled and we have encouraged birds into the garden as well as a few squirrels.

What are the future plans?  Well I have a fish pond to assemble which will form part of the sensory section of the garden.  I am really looking forward to this as both girls both looking at fish and it will make a great feature in the garden.  There is the food and vegetable plots to make and sew as I want the girls to learn more about growing food, as well as the herb garden to plant.

The other plan for next year is to do the inside of the girls play house.  Other than a chalk board there is not much in there.  I would love to get them a kitchen where they can make their perfumes and wonderful 'pies'.  I also think they would love a nursery section for them to play with their dolls.

With the theme of growing our own food next year I would also really like somewhere for the girls to sit outdoors so we can enjoy our dinner outside next year.

We are very lucky with the items the previous owners left us in the garden and I hope that soon we can turn our garden into our dream garden.

Two weeks in one as I missed the closing time for last weeks linky.

Sunday

We managed to get some work done on the BIG project and put up our horse swing.  My daughter loves her horse and it is fast becoming one of her favourite items outside.

Monday

My girls spent the day with their Grandma and Auntie.  My husband and I treated ourselves to a takeaway and the girls came home in time to 'help' us with it!

Tuesday

We had some current buns as a treat and my eldest kept singing 'five current buns in the bakers shop'

Wednesday

It was national play day and once I had picked up the girls from nursery we spent the rest of the evening playing.  My eldest took this photo of us.

Thursday

The day the castle arrived!  I won a Little Tikes Castle in a competition on Twitter and it arrived today.  The girls really adore it and have so much fun exploring it.

Friday

I took my eldest daughter to the cinema for the first time to see Monsters University.  She really loved the film and the experience and has been asking to go again.

Saturday

I spent the day making the cake for my eldest third birthday.  We were having a rainbow themed party and i wanted to use sweets to decorate the cake.

My eldest was very tired after her birthday party and fell asleep in her Monsters PJ.

Monday

My eldest was given a pair of Monsters Uni trainers as a birthday present and she will not take them off.  I absolutely love them

Tuesday

My youngest hair is starting to get a little out of control, it appears to have had a bit of a growth recently.

Wednesday

It was a rather sad day today as I  attended the funeral of a friend of mine from college.  The rest of the day passed by with a bit of a blur as I remembered college and my friend and hunted for the photos of my college years.  They must be in a box I have not yet unpacked.  My eldest new 'big girl' bed arrived and the girls helped me to put it together.  Best way to take your mind off things is to build a bed.

Thursday

The girls are unsettled at night and this was my youngest 5 am wake up face.  Happy smiley and giggling!

beautiful wake up call

Friday

We took a lovely walk in the evening with some close friends and my daughter had fun exploring with her friend.  It was lovely watching them play together and climb trees.

Saturday

With it raining outside my eldest declared we needed to build a boat.  We spent the day making boats and then tested them in the bath.

Sometimes its good to look a little deeper.  To go and try and learn new things and brush away those preconceived ideas.  I have had my own thoughts on soft play areas.  My past experiences of them tell me, the food is always junk food, the staff don't seem to care, there is always a sock/random item in the ball pool and my kids always get ill after playing at them.  Not only that but there is never any where to sit.  I was I admit it a little reluctant to let go of this idea, along with the fear of looking after 2 kids on my own but sometimes its good to give things a go and that is what I did.

Having received a very polite email asking if I wanted to bring the girls to Playmania at Elsecar heritage centre  I decided I would as I thought it would be a nice way to spend the time with the girls.  I need not have worried so much about soft play.  There was plenty of room to sit down and create a base, in fact we had choice, lots of choice.

peek a boo

The staff were very polite and friendly which again removed another of my previous conceived ideas.  I think what makes Playmania also stand out is the family touch, it is owned by two sisters who clearly have a passion for children and their well-being   High levels of CCTV, toddler groups and One Direction themed parties are just a few examples.

reflection

I really loved how everything was well thought out.  A separate play area for my youngest [under 3] but within that a separate area for the really little babies, with mirrors and sensory mats.  They had there own ball pool, slides and areas to explore.

What impressed me most with this part though was that there were chairs within the enclosed space for parents to sit and watch their children.  They also had plenty of books, yes books, so you could sit and read to your children.

The second we walked through the doors my eldest eyes lit up as she saw the giant rainbow slide, it was a real struggle to get her to sit still to take off her shoes.  She was then off and enjoying herself.

She is normally very shy in new places but she was just in her element, running around and having lots of fun.

We hunted high and low in the ball pool but found no trace of a sock or other random item.  In fact I was really surprised at how clean it was.  Both girls are still well, touch wood, which also goes to show how well looked after Playmania is.  After all the running and playing it was time for a break and some lunch.

My youngest had shepherds pie, which smelled so fantastic I had to try some.  It was delicious.

yummy shepherds pie

I asked afterwards and was told that all the meat is from the local farm shop, everything is sourced locally and cooked on site, even the chicken nuggets are proper chicken.  With the girls re fuelled my youngest was itching to try the big slide, so I braved it and off we went.

That was it there was no stopping the two of them they just kept going.  After a good few hours of playing though it was time to finally head home, both girls incredibly tired.  As the dog still needed walking the girls sat themselves in BOB as we took a gentle stroll at a nearby park.  Its a good job we were looking a little deeper else we would have missed this

This day I love looking deeper.

The girls and I were provided with a complimentary ticket to Playmania, all thoughts opinions and words are my own.
