This day I love.......

My daughter loves riding her bike.  A few months ago we were given a lovely red bike from Galt toys, which my eldest daughter simply adores.  This is a balance bike and is beautiful metallic red.  Sometimes my daughter will ask for her other bike, the one with pedals and I have had to keep saying no.

For my eldest 1st Birthday we bought her a Smart Trike , her face lit up when she saw it.  She loved it.  She had been on it less than 5 minutes when we noticed the pedal had fallen off.  Try as hard as we could we could not get it back on.  The actual inside of the pedal is broken, shortly after the other fell off too.  Which left the bike with two metal poles sticking out the side where the pedals should have been.

Smart Trike  kindly sent us a washer to try and attach the pedal onto the metal poles, but its the actual inside of the pedal that is broken and so we need a new pedal unit.  I came across a Smart Trike in the local charity shop today, so I had to pull over to investigate.  At £4.99 I thought it was an absolute bargain and figured for that price it was worth a shot at fixing our current Smart Trike.

The thing I did not count on, and perhaps rather naively, was my eldest coming home from nursery and discovering the bike.  At which point she runs over to me gives me the biggest hug and says 'Thank you Mummy I love my new bike'.  Slight problem as now I cant dismantle it to fix the original bike.  The good news is though that my eldest adores her 'new'/old bike.  I have not yet managed to get her off it and she is riding around the house on it.  My youngest has also took a shine to the bikes, I had better source some new pedals.

My eldest was feeling much better today and she is no longer contagious.  I decided it was about time we went out of the house and that we would go on a treasure hunt.  We ventured into our local village, not far but just enough to get the girls out and about.

First item of treasure on our list was of course some chocolate.  We went into the local supermarket and I had my eldest help me look for the chocolate.  She had so much fun and was so pleased when we picked up some milk chocolate buttons.  We continued our treasure hunt round the supermarket with her looking for each item on the list.

After the supermarket, our treasure hunt took us to the local charity shop.  We were looking for some items to put into the girls lets pretend box.  My eldest found a couple of bracelets she liked for her let's pretend box and then we went into the Children's section of the charity shop.  It was like an Aladdin's cave of treasure for her.  So many toys, she loved it.

One item stood out for her and that was a doll's car seat.  I wanted to get her one for Christmas but was unable to.  This car seat was £1.50, bargain.  I agreed that because she had been such a brave girl whilst she was poorly that I would get her the car seat.  Over the moon might be an understatement and she spent the rest of the day carrying it around.

When her Dad came home from work and asked her what she had done today she replied 'On a treasure hunt Daddy', Daddy asked what did she find and she replied 'Treasure, Chocolate and a baby seat'

I do love a good bargain, but I hate shopping in the sales.  I do not like having to rummage through clothes and other items.  I like things neat and tidy so that I can think clearly about what the item is I am looking for.   Also for me presentation is key, if it looks a mess I don't like shopping there and with two small children in tow time is a key factor, having to rummage takes up too much time.

I decided to brave the sales, as I needed some new lights and curtains for our house.  When we moved in the previous owners left their light fitting and curtains, which was great but some we wanted to change to better match our tastes and existing furniture.  I figured the sales would be a good idea for these items.

My eldest got a pushchair for Christmas and currently will only go anywhere with this pushchair so that came with us shopping.

I must apologise to anyone in the shopping centre at the time.  Although she did do quite well and did not destroy anything in the shops with it.

We had a good look round and whilst there were some good bargains there were also some not so great.  I picked up my eldest some new Wellington boots for £4 from £20, which I thought an excellent buy.  My favourite reduction though was on a light original price £1395, Sale price £110, absolute bargain and a very very pretty light.

With all this shopping and bargain hunting my eldest did need to stop for a little sit down

I did manage to find everything I needed apart from one set of curtains, will have to keep looking for those.

This day I love Bargain.
