This day I love.......

I have just returned home from a run.  A planned 8 mile run cut short due to the heavy rain.  I can hear the rain beating down on the glass outside.  I stand in the dark hallway cold and soaked to the bone.  The door to the front room opens, my youngest daughter reaches out and asks for a hug.  Our dog jumps up excitedly to greet me.  Little Man snoring away through the baby monitor.

After a shower I return downstairs to sit on the sofa between my girls.  Snuggled together under a throw, lights low to help the girls unwind and the dog fast asleep on the rug.  We sit there together, warm and cosy, for half hour before bed.  It is so quiet I can hear the girls breathing, it is peaceful and I feel happy.

This time together is so precious, the girls at school all day and my training meaning I am spending most evenings running.  The idea behind Hygge is to forget life’s worries, to unwind and relax and to feel as at-home as possible.  Whenever I return from a run and cuddle my children this is the moment I feel as at-home as possible.  In the winter though this seems to feel even more special.  Perhaps the dark outside adds to the mood.  The warmth inside.  The soft cuddly cushions and throw on the sofa are so inviting for a cuddle when I come in from the cold.

My girls are incredibly excited for Christmas.  They are getting to that giddy running around phase and cannot wait to see what Father Christmas has brought them.  I however, am getting heavier and more tired and do not think the wet and cold weather is helping.  Yesterday a parcel arrived that just put a smile on my face, it was exactly what I needed.  A gift box from Serene Surprises.

I carefully unwrapped the packaging to reveal a wonderful surprise

Each Serene Surprises box is packed full of products with the intention of promoting good will, well-being, reduce stress and of course increase happiness.  The box I received had some beautiful creams, relaxing fair trade teas [caffeine free], foot massager and chocolate.  Whilst the box is not designed specifically for pregnant ladies, the chocolate helped my cravings and the foot massager is 100% needed at the moment.  My legs and feet are tired and swollen from daily life.

My Serene Surprises box certainly put a smile on my face and gave me a way to relax after a long day.  It really was a lovely surprise and at £15 per box for a one month box it would make a lovely gift.  Imagine putting a smile on a loved ones face with a Serene Surprises gift box, I know some people in my family who would love one.

Thank you to Serene Surprises for sending the November box to me, all words in this post are my own personal opinion.

The break in the rain made for the perfect opportunity to get out and explore, it also gave us the perfect excuse to hunt for muddy puddles.  My youngest and I set off to explore local woodland to see what we could find.

Sitting in the woods

It wasn't long before we found what we had come for, muddy puddles.  The rain from the past few days had made lots of muddy puddles which made my youngest very happy.  She wasted no time in jumping and stomping through the puddles.

Jumping in muddy puddles

My youngest would have spent all day jumping in those muddy puddles and it was so lovely watching the enjoyment on her face.  The dogs too also had a wonderful day, J got to dig holes and Spotty dog just enjoyed herself [can you spot her?]

There are certain moments in time that stay with you forever.  Some you cherish like the first time your child says Mama or the time you see those two pink lines and others you would rather forget.  A moment in time is one which can change in an instant. All is fine and well one moment and the next everything changes.  There are times when some moments you feel so down that the world seems such a dark place but in an instant it all changes when something just makes you smile.

Moments are such funny things, hard to explain and some easy to forget.  Capturing moments can be tricky too, how many of us have the actual footage of the very first time our child took their first steps?  Its a moment often taken by surprise.

I captured a very special moment today between my girls.  I don't know how, guess just in the right place at the right time.  Its an image that although not technically perfect is an image I love and a moment of love between my daughters.

We were sat waiting for our Baby Sing and Sign class to start both girls sat waiting excited on the carpet beside me, and this happened:

a moment between sisters

I do not know what was said between them, or what they did but they both just started laughing.  A special moment between two sisters that only they understand.  A clear sign that a bond is forming between them, a moment of love and happiness.

This day I love moments.
