This day I love.......

Christmas eve was spent with my husbands family and our usual Christmas eve traditions.

Little man and the girls enjoyed spending time with their Grandparents and were very excited that in the morning was Christmas.  The girls asked every 2 minutes if they could put their PJ on and if it was time for bed, and for the first time ever I had 3 children asleep in their own beds by 7pm.

Unfortunately that did not last very long.  My eldest woke up at 9pm asking if it was morning and it took over an hour to get her back to sleep, then Little Man woke up.  His temperature was raging.  We managed to settle him and cool him down but at 2 am it was back up again.  After cooling him down he woke again 2 hours later with it sky high.  At 6.30am I was getting ready to take him to hospital, his temperature super high.  As I was about to grab the bag he fell asleep and his temperature had started to come down, so I decided to sit with him and wait a bit longer.  Thankfully he slept and his temperature came down.

The girls woke at 8, really excited and wanting to see if he had been.  I on the other had was exhausted and dealing with a very poorly little one.  We headed downstairs and Father Christmas had been, the girls excitedly opened their presents.

Little Man on the other hand had no idea what was going on, but seemed to enjoy patting all the boxes.  He really was not feeling well and was not his normal playful self

We spent the day taking it easy, watching films, playing with toys and eating chocolate.  Little Man tried his hardest, but really was far too poorly.

This photo pretty much sums up his first Christmas, not what we had wanted or planned but just goes to show how poorly he was.

The girls loved spending the day playing with their toys and playing board games together.  Apart from a poorly Little Man it was a perfect day.

Boxing Day we headed over to my parents house for Christmas part two.  A traditional Christmas dinner, plenty of fun and games and the girls got to do Christmas for a second time.  Little Man still not very well and sleeping for most of the day.

In all honesty I have not taken very many pictures since boxing day.  We spent the 27th at home trying to look after a poorly Little Man, then I got his cold and feel rubbish, plus incredibly tired.  The girls playing with their presents and generally having fun.

Needing a change of scenery plus the girls needed some new clothes we headed out to the sales on the 28th.  We spent the whole day out together, picking up the food shop for the week, finding some great bargains in the sales and even clearing a few errands.  I took no photos as we were out and about shopping.

On the 29th we headed out with Grandma for a bit more retail therapy and to find the girls some new school shoes.  Little Man is now walking with furniture so we also had his feet measured.

Shoe shopping was accompanied with more bargain hunting and some new running shoes for me!  I have a lot of races booked next year and am eager to get back out for a run, I need to get over this cold first.

Friday 30th and we had a party to attend for the girls friends.  It was lovely to be out the house and see the girls enjoy themselves.  We walked there and back and it was nice to get some fresh air.  Upon returning home we began taking down the Christmas decorations and Grandma and Grandad came over to say hello.  My eldest asked to do a few things for school so we had a look at Spelling Zappers from twinkl, and used her new clock to help her learn to tell the time.

After a very unsettled night we are currently all very tired and taking it easy today.  Tidying the playroom and the rest of the house, watching tv and eating far too much chocolate.  As it is New Years eve we are having a treat tonight and making some Freakshakes inspired by the recipe from Monty Bojangles  to celebrate together.

As we are all full of cold I have no idea if we will stay awake to watch in the New Year.  Little Man is currently sleeping and it is 6pm, but he has not had any dinner yet so I think he will wake up hungry soon, meaning he will be up most of the night.  We shall simply enjoy our evening together and see how things go.

Looking ahead to 2017 we are wanting to travel more as a family, now Little Man is slightly older he is easier to travel with and the girls are always asking where we can go and explore next!  I am wanting to run more and have a race booked for every month of 2017, you can keep up with my races here.  2016 brought us Little Man and I took a back seat from the blog to spend time with him.  In 2017 I want to blog more, improve my photography and create my videos for YouTube.  Most importantly I want to spend time with all 3 of my children, my family and create some wonderful memories.

You may have seen on my Instagram feed that my youngest had a rather nasty accident.  Without going into the gory details we have another follow up appointment next week to check again for any permanent damage, as when we first went there was too much swelling.  She still has no feeling in her top teeth and has to avoid food of extreme temperatures, and we won't know until she looses her baby teeth what, if any, damage has been done to her adult teeth.  In a bid to cheer her up she has had a few new treats, I know Christmas is coming but when your daughter has a very nasty accident you have to do something to take their mind away from the pain, try and pick them back up again and let them know how proud you are of them for their bravery.

The day after her accident I put on brand new bedding for her that I had been sent from Character World.  Both girls are desperate to watch the Trolls movie but even though they have not seen the film they have picked up on the troll hype.  My youngest loved the bright purple and pink colours and the troll design.

Normally the girls share bedding, but given this is a polyester blend my eldest daughter is unable to use it as it would trigger her eczema so it is just for my youngest.  She loves that she has her very own character bedding, and that she does not have to share it.

I have tried to get a few photos of her in the bed at night but they turn out really blurry and you cannot see the bedding, so my apologies for that.  Her face when she walked through the door to see the new bedding was amazing, she was so surprised and it really helped to cheer her up.

We have also been having lots of cuddles on the sofa and watching films together.  I think some times when you feel a bit ill watching a film helps you to take your mind off the pain and you can loose yourself in your imagination.  My youngest has been choosing the films and one she has been going back to is the BFG.

As a child I remember two books and films that scared me one was the witches and the other was the BFG, so when the BFG was released recently in the cinema I decided not to take the girls and instead wait for the DVD so I could assess how scary it was.  The story follows Sophie, an orphan, who accidentally sees a large clocked figure in the night.  The large figure is the BFG, Big Friendly Giant, who takes her away to Giant Country.  The concept of giants taking children from their bedroom window always scared me and it was this I wanted to check to see how it had been done.

Like my youngest I fell in love with the film, it is such a beautiful rendition of the BFG and not scary at all.  Neither girl has been scared by it and they both ask to watch it.  They even mention is in one of my Vlogmas videos.  The film stays true to the book and follows the story as I remember it.  I have to say I wish the film had been done this way in my childhood, I would have wanted to watch it a whole lot more!

Watching the BFG, cuddling and her new bedding seems to have cheered her up!  I just hope the appointment goes well next week, fingers crossed.

The bedding and BFG DVD was sent for review, all words are my own opinion

This week can go down in history as the week with the lurgy.

Sunday

I really was not feeling well but felt I could not let the charity down and so took part in my first ever 10K road race.  I completed the race in 1 hour and 5 minutes which given the course and my health I was pleased with.

Monday

After a trip to the Dr for some cough medicine and dosing up on paracetamol we headed to Scarborough to visit the penguins.  SeaLife Scarborough have just opened penguin island, if you love penguins you have to go.

Tuesday

As April approaches I start looking back through old photos of my sister.  I came across this one and was so surprised at how much the girls look like my sister.  She would have been the same age as my youngest here, and I the same as my eldest.

Wednesday

I set up an Easter theme challenge for the girls using their CleverStix.  The girls love Cleverstix and really enjoyed the challenge.  As soon as I feel better I shall be adding the video to YouTube.

Thursday

Wanting to make the most of the day with just my eldest we headed to the shopping centre.  She needed new shoes and of course she wanted to see Cinderella.  Apologies to everyone in the cinema for the coughing, sneezing and nose blowing.

Friday

The week took its toll on all of us.  I had planned to go out to Nostell Priory and take part in their egg hunt but I could not move and neither could the girls.  We all felt really poorly and so a day on the sofa it was.

Saturday

My eldest is feeling better and my youngest has turned a corner.  She is still poorly but no where near as bad.  I have developed a nasty ear ache, on top of the cough and runny nose.  Whilst everything hurts I had to take the girls out so they could enjoy some fresh air.  It would not have been fair on my eldest otherwise.  I feel shocking but both girls had a lovely day at Nostell Priory.

I feel like I owe everyone an apology at the moment and to be honest I am not sure where to begin.  Three weeks ago my eldest daughter started with the sniffles, she was OK but just needed extra TLC from her Mum.  To add to this the final date for my assignment was the 20th March.  I worked all hours to get it finished as it had to reach them by post on this date, which meant realistically it had to be done well before.  House work, blogging and life were put on hold to get a 4,000 word assignment on Digital marketing channels completed on time.  I cannot begin to explain the relief when I had a confirmation email saying the assignment had been received on time.

That weekend we packed up and went to Wales for a week.  Spending the week at Bluestones and to be honest, enjoying time with the girls.  The excitement meant the girls would not settle and my eldest started with a terrible cough.  The car journey home was horrendous and full of sick.  There were delays on the journey and we all returned home feeling, for want of a better word, Yak.

That night it seemed to hit us all.  We all have a terrible cough, a cough which hurts your chest and you loose your breath and seems to go on forever.  This cough is disturbing our sleep, there is at least one of us up coughing, or blowing our noses at all hours.  Our throats feel red raw, our bodies ache and we all seem to have lost the ability to regulate body temperature.  The girls temperatures are all over the place, night sweats and shaking it is horrible to watch and even more horrible to be experiencing at the same time.

poorly youngest sleeping

Today is the first day all week I have been able to sit up long enough to write something on the computer.  It is also the first time in 3 weeks I have 1 of the girls asleep before 9pm.  It won't be long before the coughing wakes her up again though.

The past three weeks have been really hard.  I have done my best to get out and take the girls places but to be honest perhaps should have rested as am paying for it now.

I therefore feel I owe everyone an apology.  I am not normally this far behind on reviews, sponsored posts or even blogging itself.  I am not normally this quiet on social media or as far behind with commenting and replying to comments.  I will catch up soon I promise.  For now though I need to get my girls and myself well again and hopefully we will be able to enjoy some of the Easter holidays.

Please send us your happy thoughts
