This day I love.......

We have been gifted tickets to watch a performance of The Snowman in exchange for this post. All words are my own opinion.

There are certain things that signify Christmas to me or if you like certain traditions that need to happen. For example, we put up our Christmas tree the weekend after my Mums birthday. It doesn’t feel like Christmas until Mariah Carey has played on the radio [you know which song I mean] and we have to watch The Snowman on Christmas day. One of my favourite traditions is taking the children to a pantomime or a Christmas show and this year we are really looking forward to watching The Snowman accompanied by a live orchestra.

In fact something magical is happening this December across the UK.

Raymond Briggs classic The Snowman will be shown across some stunning venues and some of the country's finest Cathedrals and will be accompanied by musicians from the UKs top orchestras. This magical performance sounds perfect for our live Christmas performance this year.

The venues look just as magical as the classic animation is. Accompanied with a world class orchestra I think we are in for a real Christmas treat. This will be the first time we have watched a live orchestra accompany an animation and I am really looking forward to it. Not knowing what to expect I think the anticipation adds to the magic.

The magic of live music, the feel of the music vibrating through the stunning buildings will, I am sure, give the snowman a completely new magical feeling to it. The Snowman itself brings the feeling of Christmas magic to many of us at Christmas time. This really will be the perfect Christmas treat.

Carrot productions have staged over 200 productions of the Snowman across the UK and the 2019 tour dates can be found here . In previous years the dates have sold out very quickly which shows how fantastic it must be, and with the tour staying in one location for a limited amount of time it is advisable to book early so you don’t miss out!

Little Man loves PAW Patrol, and by love I really do mean love. He wakes up and after asking for his Grandma he then asks for PAW Patrol. He can recognise and name all the characters and we watch the show on repeat. At two years old he was not aware of where we were going but I was excited to see his reaction.

We drove to Leeds and collected our tickets from the arena. Little Man took his seat next to his sister and then turned and saw the stage. He looked, then looked at me and looked again. 'PAW Patrol' he said. Then he clapped and his little legs started bouncing.

He kept tapping me asking when PAW Patrol would start. His little face lit up when the pups came on stage and his little legs kept bouncing.

The show lasts for 85 minutes, and follows the adventures of the PAW Patrol as they head over Adventure Bay on a treasure hunt. The audience help the Pups to solve clues and there was even a surprise visit from a special pup, which made my youngest daughter rather happy!

The show had Little Man engrossed from start to finish. He asked for more when the interval came on and when the show finished he didn't want to leave his seat. The problem I have now is that every time we get in the car he asks for PAW Patrol and is incredibly disappointed when we end up somewhere else, unless it is Grandma's house of course!

Our tickets were provided in exchange for this post.

I have been looking forward to today for some time.  The girls have been watching Basil Brush on his YouTube channel and it has brought back some funny memories from my childhood.  Today we went to watch him live.

We made the journey to York via train and whilst only just over an hour the train journey is very exciting for the girls.  Grandma travelled with us which made it even more exciting.  After a lovely lunch in York city centre we headed over to the Opera House.

Basil Brush live

The girls were excited when they saw the stage.  We took our seats and waited for the show to start.

The show was everything I had hoped it would be and more.  Really interactive, had songs and dancing in for the kids and jokes for the adults.  At one point just one Dad laughed really loud at one of the jokes.  It was true all round family entertainment that saw the girls, myself and my Mum laughing out loud.  We all really loved it and as I put the girls to bed tonight they said 'Boom Boom'

A good family day out

This Day I love Boom Boom!

My eldest daughter had a little surprise last week.  I picked her up from school as per usual but asked her to go and get changed at school.  She was really confused because normally she gets changed at home.  I then put her in the car with her sister, which confused her even more as we always walk to and from school.  We had 90 minutes before the surprise started.

We had tickets to see Justin and friends : Mr Tumble Circus.  I had not told either girls we were going and so had a lot of questions in the car.  We arrived just in time and we took our seats.  The girls then knew were we where and became very excited.

Justin and friends

The show was everything you would expect, lots of singing, dancing and general silliness.  All good family fun and entertainment.  Mr Tumble arrived walking through the audience and the girls loved that he walked straight past us, they even gave him a wave.

Both girls loved the show and it was a great surprise for them, as well as a really nice treat.

Enjoying the show

This day I love Tumble time

Sound the Octo alert...

I am giving away a Family ticket to see the Octonauts Live.

Top-selling children’s stage show producers Fiery Light today announce a brand new full-length theatre adventure for children, Octonauts and the Deep Sea Volcano Adventure. Based on the popular CBeebies’ TV show, Octonauts, this exciting new production opens at The Orchard Theatre, Dartford, on Thursday 16 October and tours into 2015.

In Octonauts and the Deep Sea Volcano Adventure the entire crew of the Octonauts, led by intrepid explorer Captain Barnacles, Lieutenant Kwazii and Medic Peso, embark on an exciting new underwater quest and visit amazing underwater worlds full of adventure, with surprises around every corner. This action-packed interactive show features new music (from BAFTA-award winning composer Mani Svavarsson) and all the Octonauts live on stage for the very first time.

Richard Lewis adapts and directs this new production for the stage. He also adapted and directed the hugely popular three Peppa Pig stage shows and last year’s Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom tour. Matt Lewis is lyricist, Simon Scullion is designer, Matt Haskins is lighting designer and Ian Horrocks Taylor is sound designer.

Octonauts and the Deep Sea Volcano Adventure is produced by live children’s show supremos Fiery Light (joint venture by Fiery Angel and Limelight Productions), the team also behind the recent tours of the three successful Peppa Pig stage shows. Their most recent – Peppa Pig’s Big Splash - is currently on tour. It has broken box office records for a pre-school show and will return to the West End for fifth consecutive Christmas season at the Criterion Theatre this year. Other Fiery Light productions include the recent tour of Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom, LazyTown Live! and Roald Dahl’s The BFG.

Director/adaptor Richard Lewis said: ‘Octonauts is all about adventure and exploration which offers up a whole host of possibilities in a live environment. From the colourful characters and fantastic underwater setting to the amazing octopod where the Octonauts live, there’s great scope for a really unique, interactive theatre experience. We can’t wait to take fans on an adventure like never before.’
