This day I love.......

I cannot quite believe that it is time for Britmums Live again.  It only feels like yesterday that I was stood at the Brewery catching up with friends.  This year is my third Britmums, another fact which shocks me and so I feel excited rather than nervous this time around.

I am also really excited to announce that this year I am sponsored by a fantastic company who I am so proud to work with and be one of their Mumbassadors.  Tommee Tippee are a brand which I trust and am passionate about and I am so honoured to be working with them and for them to sponsor me for Britmums Live.  I am really looking forward to the next year working with them and bringing you some of their latest products.

Tommee Tippee have just launched a brand new website and a relaunch of all their packaging.  The redesign looks fantastic and I cannot wait to see the new products.  If you take a look at their website you can see some of the new designs and colours, I cannot wait to see them in real life and try them with the girls.

I haven't yet decided what I will be wearing but it will probably be jeans and my converse.  Come say hello if you spot me, and I look forward to seeing you there.

The Team Honk baton arrived this weekend, which resulted in a rather busy weekend for the girls and I.  When Spencer, from adadcalledspen, and myself first sat down to discuss the team honk relay [what seems like months ago] we had two clear aims:

1. Involve as many people as we could
2. Have lots of fun and try to do things a bit different.

We also decided the theme for our leg of the relay would be Planes, Trains and auto mobiles.

With this in mind Spencer created the rather fantastic mystery tour of Barnsley and his wish came true as he achieved his flotilla of mobility scooters.  Hats off to you Spencer, I said aim big and you certainly achieved an amazing day!

The girls were keen to be involved and could not wait to get ready

dressed and ready to gothe baton meets my eldest

Saturday my aim was to show it didn't matter how young you are you can still be involved.  The girls took part in a sponsored slide a thon.  How many times could we ride the rainbow slide at Playmania in 30 minutes?

down the slideoff we go

We managed 22 times, which I think is quite an achievement given I had to carry my youngest up the ramp and she kept wanting to stop to collect balls on her way up.  My eldest kept stopping for a drink too, well it is thirsty work.

The girls enjoyed themselves, and took a short nap at Playmania.

In keeping with our theme we visited the trains!

Our dog got involved too

The final part of the challenge for the girls was to do a 5m swim each.  The other children in the girls class got involved too and we all did a 5m relay, so the baton swam 25m in total!

I think it was only fair that I then treated the girls.  They had done rather a lot!

well deserved ice cream

Sunday was the handover day as we handed over to team honk Hull.  In keeping with our theme our final component was Planes!

In the plane ready to go

The weather was very grey and there was quite a lot of wind around, but we took a brief opportunity of a break in the weather and set off from York gliding club.

All aboard team honk

After an almost sideways landing at Hull Aero club, due to the very strong cross winds, we did a quick handover and decided to fly back again before the weather really turned nasty.

Handover for team honk Hull

It has been such an amazing and busy weekend.  I would like to say thank you to ever one who has helped and to everyone who has sponsored us, it means a lot!  The girl,s its fair to say, are two tired little honkers!

up up and away

This day I love tired little honkers!

So I have spent most of my afternoon / evening in accident and emergency.  I had planned an afternoon of fun in the garden to make the most of the Autumn sun, but my eldest had other ideas.  After asking her repeatedly to leave the car door alone, she refused to listen.  In her typical, 'I am three and therefore know what I am doing phase' a threenager if you will.  Not listening to me she opened the car door and promptly continued to open it getting her hand stuck between the car parked next to me and the edge of the door.  Resulting in removal of skin from fingers, swelling and a change in colour to her finger tips.  I then rushed her to the hospital to get her checked out.

She was rather brave and although not too keen on the idea of an X - ray she even managed to have several of those taken.  I am pleased to say that she has no broken bones, just sore finger ends.  Thankfully.  That I can tell you was a huge relief.  Anyway why am I writing about all this.  Well you see, whilst we were in hospital we received really excellent care.  My daughter had plenty to keep her occupied whilst we waited, lots of books, toys, games and even a TV playing age appropriate TV programs.  All the staff were really lovely and supportive and she was even given a sticker for her bravery, after her X rays.

I then saw a sign and realised that all these things, the toys, books, TV, all these little things that are helping keep my daughter entertained and less stressed are provided for by chairty.  All these little things that are keeping me from getting stressed and worrying about my daughter.  All these little things that actually make a huge difference, are provided for by charity.  They are provided for by people donating, even 50p, to help buy books, toys and other things for the children.  Things we probably take for granted in the waiting area but are of great importance.  Things I have never thought about where they come from.  It made a difference to me tonight, I cannot imagine the difference it would make to long term patients and their families.

As regular readers know on the 19th October I am going to be running for my life in an attempt to save lives.  The charity I chose all that time ago was, the Barnsley Hospital Charity  and its this charity that provided all those small things for my daughter whist she was in accident and emergency.  I know many of you are thinking, well its Barnsley Hospital Charity  that is never going to have an impact on my life.  To them I ask, well what if one day it does? You never know what is round the corner?

Please sponsor me and lend a helping hand as I run for my life to save yours.

This day I love a helping hand

I was recently challenged by my friend Lisa at Hollybobb to take part in the Yorkshire 3 peak challenge.  I am not one for passing down such challenges especially when we are fund raising for a good cause, Alzheimer's Society.

The fund raising and information pack arrived today along with the training schedule, the enormity of the challenge suddenly hit me.  I am going to climb the three largest peaks in the Yorkshire dales in one day, one after the other.  I also realised that I don't own any walking shoes let alone any walking equipment.  This is going to be interesting.

I am however also really looking forward to this challenge.  I am hoping this will give me the motivation I need to get fit and keep me focused a little more on doing all my exercises.  I can't wait to get started, though I think the first stop will be to the shops for some walking shoes.

If you would like to sponsor me [pretty please I would love it if you did] then please do so via Just Giving or click the Just giving button in the top right corner.  For more details on the challenge please read here .  I shall keep you posted how the training is going.  Oh and I am hoping for weather like in the photo below, fingers crossed.

When I started blogging, I never fully imagined either how much I would enjoy it or how wonderful the blogging community would be.  I started on the 26th October 2012 and wanted to capture the precious moments.  Since that time thisdayilove has grown into so much more.  It is a way for me to stay focused and positive on a daily basis.  I make sure that the girls and I do something everyday even when we are poorly or tired from lack of sleep.  I have had comments and emails from others who say the blog has helped them to stay focused and positive.

Thisdayilove has helped me capture all those precious first, the first time my eldest said I love you and the first time my youngest saw snow.  There are loads more firsts to come, first steps, first day at school all will be recorded for the girls.

I would like to improve my blogging skills not only how to write better but also to take better photos.  As my daughters grow from babies into beautiful girls I want to capture the changes.  I would like to capture them playing together and those general cheeky moments that make me laugh ever so much, the precious memories.  I want to record these memories better too and learn how social media tools such as Pinterest can be best used to help me.

With great thanks to Yoomi, I will now be attending Britmums Live and will be able to grow thisdayilove and improve on those blogging skills to help me capture more precious Mummy moments. Yoomi is a premium easi-latch bottle, a travel warmer and a bedside warmer in one compact and stylish package, a 3 in 1 feeding system.  At the touch of a button, yoomi warms baby's milk to the natural temperature of breast milk in just 60 seconds.

Yoomi is a product that I feel is a must have for any new parent.  It was an absolute life saver for me when my girls woke for night feeds.  It enabled me to combination feed as the girls were both fussy about the temperature of their milk.  Yoomi removed all this as the temperature was the same as breast milk.

I would like to say a huge thank you to Yoomi for sponsoring me for Britmums live.
