This day I love.......

My youngest daughter keeps singing 'I maybe blue with pointy teeth,  It may seem strange but it's true, I'm just like you.' and I am guessing if you have a child aged between 4 and 9 you probably also have the same song sung at you most of the day too. It is of course the theme song from the brand new Disney Junior show Vampirina.

To say Vampirina has become a hit in our house would be a bit of an understatement. Both the girls at 5 and 7 love the show, and Little Man can even be caught dancing along to the theme tune. If you haven't seen the show Vampirina is a young vampire who moves with her family from Transylvania to a neighbourhood in Pennsylvania. Vampirina is not only the new kid in town but she must also go through the joys of fitting in with her human classmates. The underlying message to the show is learning how to look past a person's difference and find the piece that makes us all individual and special.

To accompany the show there are now a great range of toys available and we have been lucky enough to put three of them to the test.

Vampirina Spookylele and Gloves
Vampirina Bat-tastic talking Vee and Wolfie
Hauntley's Mobile

Vampirina Bat-tastic talking Vee and Wolfie

This Vampirina doll is 30cm tall and comes with her loyal friend Wolfie. Vampirina can fly through the air to make fun sounds and you can also press her necklace to hear her say phrases from the tv show.

As she talks her wings light up a beautiful blue colour.

My youngest loved flying her through the air and then stopping to talk to Wolfie. She would sing the theme tune as she flew Vampirina around. Vampirina has beautiful detailing to her dress and is the perfect size for my 5 year old daughter to play with. My daughter even loved that the hair clips can come out of Vampirina hair, but was a little disappointed I couldn't fit them into her own hair!

Hauntley's Mobile

Little Man took a liking to the Hauntley's mobile, mainly because it is very car like. The vehicle comes with a mini Vampirina figure inside which Little Man also had great fun putting inside the car.

I think what Little Man also loved is the lights and music that the vehicle makes, he is nearly 2 and so it really appealed to him.  The vehicle itself feels very robust so should be able to withstand Little Man playing and also his older sisters. There is some great detailing on the vehicle and it is of a good size for both Little and not so little hands to play with.

The back of the vehicle also transforms into a movie theatre which is an added bonus in play and has sparked some really imaginative stories from my youngest daughter.

Vampirina Spookylele and Gloves

I think out of all the toys this had to be the favourite one. My youngest never took the gloves off, and both girls wanted a pair. My youngest loved playing to hear to theme tune so she could sing along. In addition you can also hear additional music and guitar riffs. Little Man loved both the music and the flashing lights. It certainly is a hit toy in our house and appeals to all ages who are fans of the show.

The Vampirina toy range is available now and more details can be found here

On the 28th February we are going to be joining in with UKmums.tv and their twitter party between 1pm and 3pm. During the party there will be spot prizes, competitions and more fun and games. Join me and @UKMumsTV for a very special twitter party on 10th August between 1pm and 3pm.  UKMumsTV have a whole host of prizes to be won and from the new Mickey Roadster Races and Minnie Happy Helpers toy ranges from Flair.

Our party box for the twitter party arrived and as well as an amazing party bag which contains colouring packs and magazines from Copywrite Designs and RedanFunToLearn, there is also some of the new toy range for us to test out.

1. Mickey Roadster Racers Talking Tool Belt

My eldest has took a real shine to this tool belt.  At 6 years old, and on the small side, she fits in the belt with room to spare.  There is space for all her tools, drill, screws, oil, pump and everything you can think of to fix a car.  The tool belt has a great selection of phrases which you activate by pressing Mickey Mouse.  She has been walking around the house fixing everything from the radiators to the chairs and even her brothers toy car.  It certainly has sparked some imagination with my daughter.

2. Minnie’s Happy Helpers Bag Playset

The Bag Playset contains a mobile phone, with handy dial for calling all your favourite pals.  There is a purse with passport and drivers licence and a bracelet too.  The clip detaches from the front of the bag and can be worn as a charm on the bracelet and my youngest at 5 has no problems doing this herself.  There is plenty of room inside the bag meaning you can also add your own Minnie Mouse inspired accessories.  Perfect for carrying with you to the shops as my youngest has been doing.

3. Mickey Roadster Racers Pit Crew Tool Box

A very handy place to store your tools in the Pit crew tool box.  I have been able to detach the handle which makes storage a little easier, though not sure if it is designed to do this or not.  One of the features I really like is the peg boards.  By allowing children to practise on the peg boards with the screws it helps with fine motor skills and also helps to strengthen muscles needed for writing.  The tool box is light weight and can be carried with ease by my 1 year old. He loves the fact he now has a hammer to hit random things with, sorry fix things with!

4. Minnie’s Happy Helpers Bowtique Cash Register

The cash register comes complete with scanner, money and a credit card.  The credit card makes a beep when entered into the card reader too.  Little Man loves the beeping noises each button makes and the girls have been having fun role playing shops.  The Cash register is also a great way for children to solve simple maths problems and learn about money.

5. Minnie’s Happy Helpers Shopping Basket

Within the shopping basket there is a selection of food.  Some of this is held with velcro and comes complete with play knife, so that it can be chopped up.  I have been using this as a way to explain halves and doubles with my youngest.  The basket is a really good size and can more than accommodate the food items.  There are some lovely details on the food including Mickey Mouse ears and Minnie Bows!

6. Mickey Roadster Racers Musical Microphone

Little Man has taken the microphone as his own.  With a blue and red flashing light, plus the Mickey and the Roadster races theme tune when you press a button on the front, how can you blame him really?  He absolutely loves it and toddles round the house pretending to sing in his microphone.  Perfect size for little hands to hold.

Make sure you join in the fun on 10th August at 1pm over on twitter and see more of the new range and take part in some amazing competitions!

We received the items mentioned in exchange for this post, all words are my own opinion

This week we were hosts to a PJ masks twitter party.  The girls are huge PJ masks fans and spend most days either watching PJ masks or playing PJ masks.  My youngest has even asked if she can go out at night so she can save the day.  To take part in any PJ masks party you first need to look the part, so we began by making masks.

Gecko, Catboy and Owlette were soon ready for the party to start.

Our guests could not wait to get started, and we began with playing pass the parcel [OK we followed a slightly different order to twitter, but went with the flow of the guests!]

We even got artistic with some buns and drew our favourite PJ masks hero onto them

Can you guess who they drew?

There was a lot of discussion around the PJ masks guess who game.  Some images proving more difficult than others, but after careful thought they all agreed on what should go where.

Every party needs time for colouring and releasing your artistic side, which is exactly what our guests decided to do.

In addition to the games and competitions on twitter and the games we were playing, we also put some of the new PJ masks items to the test.  My eldest who is obsessed with Gecko could not wait to try on her new Gecko costume.

The gecko costume is one piece, and although a 5-6 fitted my 6 [almost 7] year old perfectly.  The back is Velcro so it is quick to get on and off.  She had no problem with her Gecko strength or super gecko grip and ran around the house demonstrating as such.

Even an Owlette made an appearance

A PJ masks twitter party was also the perfect time to try out the new PJ masks vehicles and figures sets.  Each vehicle comes with a 3" articulated figure but you can fit all 3 PJ mask characters into one vehicle for them all to ride together.  The vehicles are lots of fun and the girls love acting out different PJ masks scenarios as they drive into the night to save the day.  Little Man just liked pushing the vehicles around and the fact they had wheels!

Blind bags are very popular with the girls.  They have them as a treat and love opening to find out what is inside.  PJ masks blind bags features a rare Connor figure and the girls are desperate to find him.  Each blind bag contains one highly detailed figure from PJ masks.

The PJ masks are huge favourites with all three of my children, and each one has their own favourite character.  After the excitement of the twitter party it was time to cuddle up on the sofa and watch an episode of PJ masks with their soft toys.

We were PJ masks twitter party hosts and have been sent the items featured.

Last week we took part in a Puppy in my pocket twitter party, there were lots of great prizes to be won during the 2 hours and lots of fun to be had at home too!

The girls are both big fans of the 'In my Pocket' range, and they often have blind bags bought for them as a treat and as a reward when they complete their reward charts.  Each of the Puppies have their own unique characters and there are lots to collect.  My youngest loves the one on the scooter and my eldest has a corgi, she calls it the Queens dog.

We had a very important job to do for our party and that was to make party cakes, well no party would be complete without cake!

My youngest set to work icing the buns and sticking on Puppy in my pocket rice paper to decorate them.  They looked really good and my youngest, who is food obsessed, said it was her favourite part of the party!

All our guests go to play with 2 puppy in my pocket toys, the new castle and the playground.  Both were a huge hit and are really great for any puppy in my pocket fan.  The playground proved to be the most popular, which surprised me as I though the castle would be.  Perhaps it was the slide that they liked!  Our guest also got to play some Puppy in my pocket games such as pairs and snap.  Not wanting to be left out Little Man kept joining in with snap.

I love the down time in twitter parties too, where the children get to do puzzles and colour in.  It gives me chance to catch up with twitter and find out what is going on.  The children all really enjoy this time too and came up with some wonderful master pieces.

As usual the party seems to fly by and our guests left with some amazing goodies in their party bag, including some of the new blind bags for Kitty in my Pocket!  I can see the girls liking this just as much as the Puppy in my Pocket!

We were party hosts for the twitter party mentioned.

For those following me on Twitter you will have seen we took part in a Go Jetters Twitter party on Thursday afternoon. As always the two hours seem to fly past rather quickly and there are always lots of prizes to be won. For this party we had 2 people in addition to the girls, however I have been asked not to share their images online.

We had the Go Jetters DVD playing during the whole Twitter party, the kids could then sit and watch or take part in activities or do a bit of both. The Go Jetters provide useful facts about different locations, which we discussed on Thursday. In particular the guests all asked questions about Egypt and the pyramids. One of their recent school topics was shapes and so they spoke amongst themselves about the shapes they recognised which was lovely to hear. The DVD is great value for money featuring plenty of episodes to keep them entertained.

We had prepared biscuits before hand, and they were rather yummy.

Our guests loved taking part in each activity and in particular our Go Jetters hunt. For this we used the Go Jetters jet pad which is new from fisher price.

The jet pad headquarters has rolling wheels, so it can be pushed along and it plays sounds, phrases and the theme song. What is really clever about the jet pad is the projector. This projects images of the location, and when opened the projector flips to project inside the jet pad.

There are seats for each of the Go Jetters, slide, stairs and a hidden compartment for storing G.O. Boots and G.O. Grab. This is a must have for all go Jetters fans.

The jet pad was flown around the room but it wasn't long before the Go Jetters needed to use the Vroomster to explore further. The Vroomster also plays the theme song and has phrases, the windshield can be illuminated with a green light and there is space for all four Go Jetters inside. The side boosters also pop out allowing the Go Jetters to jump on and ride.

In our house one of the girls takes the Vroomster and the other the jet pad. They seem happy to share and take it in turns, but they love that they both have a vehicle which flies and can fit all of the Go Jetters inside. The Vroomster comes with Xuli and the jet pad Kyan, but you can purchase all of the figures individually to build your collection.

After playing place the Go Jetter in the Vroomster we played weather bingo. We also used this opportunity to play with the G.O. Force weather launcher. Weather disks are placed in the launcher and when the handle is pulled back they shoot out, allowing you to in-glitch landmarks using the weather elements. There are five weather elements in total, and this has been one of the favourite toys of all the guests.

Before we knew it the party had finished and it was time to say goodbye, each of our guests went home with a Go Jetters goody bag. We are looking forward to the next Twitter party and of course watching Go Jetters on cbeebies.

The new toy range is available from Argos
