This day I love.......

The book was gifted but no other financial compensation has been received.

When an email landed in my inbox in November about a book for 10+ with a strong female lead, I knew instantly it was a book I wanted my eldest daughter to read. Her favourite subject at school is Maths, she absolutely loves it and tries at all costs to avoid reading and instead do Maths. Whilst I don't want to force her to read I do want to encourage her, and I thought having a book sent to her would encourage this. I wasn't wrong.

My eldest daughter has been engrossed with the Undercover thief since the moment it arrived. A book just for her, I think it what sparked her interest but soon the story took over and she could not put it down.

Book cover for undercover thief

Undercover thief follows the life of Pamela Torres. Pamela Torres is an exceptional and resilient character. At the age of nine her parents disappear and she has to be resourceful just to survive. At 14 her parents return and turn her world upside down. Her parents take her away from the loving family she is with, they just happen to be one of the most notorious bands of young thieves in the London Underground and enlist her in a Victorian institute. The institute is an American boarding school for spies. Her parents are government spies. Pam now has to keep her past a secret but how do you do that when your whole world is now full of spies!

The book is beautifully written and written in such a way that it inspired my otherwise shy reader to become more confident in her reading ability. It sparked an interest that when asked for homework to write a book review, or design a book cover she always chose to do this about Undercover thief. The one thing however that I loved the most, was that for world book day when she could choose absolutely any book she used her imagination and dressed up in what she thought the Undercover thief would wear.

Speaking as a mother that is all I need to know about what my daughter thought about the Undercover thief. To choose to dress up as the main character for World book day shows me that this book has been truly loved and well received by her.

Thank you for sending the book to her and giving her confidence in her reading ability.

World book day is fast approaching again.  You would assume that as my girls love to read that we would have no problems in deciding upon a costume for World book day, however the opposite is perhaps true.  I am almost 39 weeks pregnant and whilst I would love to make a costume for the girls I simply am not feeling up to it.

I have been looking around for costumes for the girls and have found a few I really like.

Morphsuits

Morphsuits are all in one suits which look fantastic.  They include a hood which goes over the face and I was not sure if they would make a suit suitable for children.  I have however found a selection of suits that fit even my youngest daughter.  They are all in one suits which are easy to put on, comfortable to wear and the girls think they are absolutely fantastic.  They have no problems seeing through the hoods.

Tiger and a bear

They have both been running around the house making 'Roar' sounds and have really got into the characters.  They would make perfect costumes for world book day and am thinking 'The Tiger who came to tea' and 'Goldilocks and the Three bears'

Dinosaurs

A few weeks ago my eldest dressed up as a dinosaur and really loved it.  She has been asking if I can find her a dinosaur costume again for her to dress up in.  I love the Raptor toddler costume here  and feel it would be a great costume for World Book day, and they could be Hocus Pocus Diplodocus

Dinosaur

A Princess

The girls both have their very own personalised books from Create Me books, you can win one here, and are each featured as a Princess in the books.

girls own princess books

I think it would be really great for them to go as the Princess from their very own book.  I found two princess dresses that match these in the book from the Disney store, who also have 25% off costumes and accessories.

All I can say for last week is I am glad it is over.

Sunday

Monday

Tuesday

Wednesday

spring flowersNeeded a quick break from doing work so I went for a walk in the garden.  I love this picture my phone captured, especially the spider.

Thursday

world book day dress upWorld book day.  Youngest wanted to dress up as a pirate.  She love Pirates love underpants and my eldest wanted to dress up like a Dr.

Friday

playing outsideI finally got my assignment into my tutor which meant I could at long last get outside.  It felt fantastic to be outdoors and in the fresh air after so long tied to the computer screen.  My youngest loved that she got to spend some time with me too.

Saturday

Soft playWe were invited to an event at Brewers Fayre,  #PlayAtBrewersFayre, It was a really great day with face painting and soft play.  Of course lunch was provided too.  The girls really loved it.

I am so happy the assignment is in, and I am hoping I do not have to make too many changes before the final submission.  Really looking forward to next week when some normality can resume

On the 6th March is world book day. It is no secret the girls and I love books and enjoy reading together and so we were thrilled to be asked to take part in Miles Kelly world book day secret blogger! We were sent a blogger, who i shall keep secret, and ask to pick a book for from the Miles Kelly site. I had a lot of fun reading the blog, although it was one I am very familiar with, and choosing a book for them. I hope they liked it. Our book arrived and the girls really love it. We received a convertible book, and this one converts to a princess carriage.

The great thing about the convertible book is that the girls can either sit and read a story with me, I can turn it into a play mat for them or make it into a carriage for them to play with. It is very versatile and has many uses. The book is sturdy when made into the carriage too and my girls love to sit in it and play. They have even had a picnic in the carriage. The colours are very bright and this has certainly become a favourite of my eldest.

The girls really love their book from our secret world book day blogger. Why not take a look at the miles Kelly web site and pick a book to give as a surprise for some one this world book day? I would highly recommend the convertible range!
