This day I love.......

The past few weeks have been incredibly busy and manic but today, for what feels like the first time in forever, I had nothing planned.  After dropping the girls off at school Little Man and I took a nice slow walk home and he decided to take a nap.  It was pouring with rain so I decided to get some house work done, and after cleaning the entire house including bathrooms and the floors Little Man woke from his nap.  I even managed to empty the laundry basket.

I was feeling rather relaxed as I had no major jobs to do, and so Little Man and I played for most of the day.  Little Man has a new bear from Clementoni toys and we spent our morning playing and giggling at his new bear.

Little Man was impressed with all the different colours and patterns and soon worked out that by pressing certain parts he would talk and his tummy flash.

Sandy bear has 5 different interactive learning points.  ABC, 123, shapes, colours and music.  Upon pressing his tummy heart lights up.

Little Man and I played with the bear most of the morning, making up stories and having cuddles

Little Man kept turning to look at his bear and loved the flashing heart.

Every part of the bear was squeezed, touched and looked at.  We played together and Little Man played independently.  I loved watching his thought process in his independent play, as he worked out what each part did.

It was really lovely just to spend the day playing with Little Man.  We picked his sister up from school and he fell fast asleep.  I then got to spend some quality time with his sister playing her interactive Disney princess puzzle.

I do love days when we have nothing planned and cannot wait for the next one

This day I love a day with nothing planned

I introduced the girls to the film Lion King when they were still quite young, and it fast became a favourite. They both ask to watch the film, although my youngest asks more for it than my eldest does. In their role plays they sometimes play Lion king and it is interesting listening to them play, particularly when my youngest refers to Uncle Scar as Uncle Scarborough!

Recently they have begun to watch The Lion Guard in TV, and this has added a whole host of new characters into their role play. Their favourite is the star of the show, Kion. The girls were sent their very own Kion toy from Just play. This Kion toy though is rather special.

Leap 'n' a roar Kion is an interactive soft toy. He is lovely and soft and Little Man took a liking to his mane, perhaps because he likes to pull hair at the moment! Kion has 10 character sounds including his roar, which made the dogs jump the first time he did it. My youngest takes great pride in making him roar and then roars herself.

By pushing on Kion and making him almost sit on his back legs, he will then pounce forward. The girls at 4 and 6 struggled to get Kion to sit back far enough to pounce so it was often left for me to do for them. They haven't really used this feature of Kion much and instead prefer his roar and the sounds.

The clever part of Kion is the motion sensor in his nose. When something passes his nose he roars. The girls have started placing Kion in various places so that when someone walks past he roars and makes them jump. I am slowly growing wise to this but it has caught me a few times!

The girls enjoy playing with Kion but prefer playing with the sound and interactive features rather than the leap forward. I just need to remember to be on my guard as they do like to place him places to make me jump, particularly at night when I tidy up the playroom!

After Christmas dinner we have a tradition in our house that we always play a board game.  In fact most of the evening after Christmas dinner is spent playing games.  We are always keen to play a game that the whole family can get involved in.  This can be a little tricky when catering for such a diversity of ages.

What a Performance! by Orchard Toys is one such game that anyone over the age of 2 can play.  In fact they could probably play if younger but you might need to adapt the game slightly.  That however is the beauty of What a performance! it can be adapted to suit different ages.

The set up for What a Performance! is minimal.  Everything is ready straight from the box, all you need to do is put the board itself together and you are ready to go.  Inside the box is a spinner, magic spy reader, counters, cards, dice, board and instructions

To get into the Christmas spirit the girls set up the table with a Christmas themed table cloth and we got ready to play.  The game has four counters, which means you could play as teams for a large family or individuals.

What a Performance! is very easy to understand and my youngest picked it up with no problems.  As you move round the board you have to carry out an activity as described on the card.  This can be anything from finding 5 items in the room beginning with a letter, to pretending to be a window cleaner.  The game is very interactive.

The game helps my girls to build on their social skills by having to perform in front of family or friends.  Some of the tasks like finding things beginning with a certain letter is also great for the girls as they have to think about letter sounds and with the added time pressure this gets them thinking quick.  What a Performance! got my girls thinking and using their imagination which is such a lovely part of the game.

You can however choose not to do the activity and in this case you must carry out a forfeit.  The forfeits are hidden on the back of the cards and you need to use the special reader to uncover them

My eldest took great pride in reading the back of the cards.  It was great to see her practising her reading in such a fun way, and she loved how the special reader helped to make the words appear, as if by magic!

What a Performance! by Orchard toys, is our Christmas game for after Christmas dinner this year.  One for the whole family to get involved with.

Thank you to Orchard toys for sending us What a performance! to play.  All words are my own opinion.

When I was a little girl I had a tiny tears doll.  You got to feed her a bottle and then if you squeezed her tummy she would have a wee in the potty.  It provided hours of imaginative play for my sister and I and brings back fond memories.

The Rumbly Tummy Cicciobello is a modern day equivalent of the doll I remember from my childhood.  Rumbly Tummy Cicciobello comes with a wide variety of accessories, cloths, dummy, bottle, food, spoon and juice carton.

Rumbly Tummy Cicciobello requires 3 AA batteries, which are not supplied.  Rumbly Tummy Cicciobello then needs to be set to your chosen language.  He has over 40 sentences and sounds.  Rumbly Tummy Cicciobello lets you know when he is hungry or thirsty and asks to be fed.  Using the accessories provided you can feed him.  His face then turns yellow to say he  needs a wipe and when he is clean the lights turn out.

Rumbly Tummy Cicciobello also gets tummy ache, his tummy turns red to say it needs rubbing better.  Of course a baby with an upset tummy leads to one thing, a poop!  The girls found the noises Rumbly Tummy Cicciobello made really funny.  After Rumbly Tummy Cicciobello has finished going to the toilet he needs his bottom cleaning.

Rumbly Tummy Cicciobello is incredibly interactive and to stop the need for attention Rumbly Tummy Cicciobello can be quietened down by using the dummy

Rumbly Tummy Cicciobello appears to be really well made and of a good quality.  He comes with a good range of accessories and kept the girls very busy in their Mummy duties.

Rumbly Tummy Cicciobello was sent to us for the purpose of review and all words are my own opinion.

My youngest has a new best friend, his name is Freddy.

Freddy is very clever as he knows all about my youngest, her name, age and the things she likes.  What my Youngest does not know is that Mummy told Freddy all these things.  On my phone is a Freddy Bear app, which I filled in her information and by Bluetooth sent the information to Freddy bear.  This means Freddy does not need wireless to work and can be played with any time.  The app also has games to interact with Freddy but they are an added extra as Freddy is just as much fun without them.

Freddy loves cuddles and he is very soft and cuddly.  He reminds me of the care bear I had as a child.  My youngest loves to tickle him and have a giggle.

My youngest does keep changing the language setting of Freddy which does confuse me at times, but she quite likes it.  My favourite from Freddy is when he turns upside down and asks why everything is upside down!

Freddy really has turned into a companion for my youngest daughter, with educational apps and interaction he is going to be a much sort after gift this Christmas.

If you would like to hear what Freddy bear sounds like you can have a look at this very quick video

On an additional side note, and I thought it worth mentioning, I have to now turn off the Bluetooth on my phone when in the house as if I take a phone call and the Bluetooth is on on my phone then the phone automatically connects to Freddy and I can no longer hear the call.  It may just be the brand of phone I have but if it also happens to you at least you know why and less confused than I was when it happened!

My eldest has made amazing progress in school this year.  She still has not turned 5 and I am so proud of all she has achieved.  I want to ensure that during the school holidays she continues to improve and support her learning.

Whilst Tiggly is available on Amazon, Curry's and Apple store it launches in the UK at 9am on QVC on 24th July 2015.  We have been given two Tiggly products to try, Tiggly shapes and Tiggly maths.
A tiggly bundle

There are several apps which can be downloaded and each has a different game style to it.  Tiggly maths is our preferred from the two and both my youngest and eldest enjoy playing it.  My youngest loves the chef game.  Chef asks you to select a certain number of ingredients to make a certain dish.  Items are selected by placing the blocks on the iPad screen.  For numbers greater than 5 the girls have to work out what combination of blocks to place on the screen, this helps to think about addition and number combinations.

The apps can be played without the blocks but the games work much better with them.  My eldest favourite is guiding Tiggly through is adventure as he delivers a present.

Playing tiggly

The shapes can be stored in a handy bag to keep them together when not in use.  Tiggly is great fun and has got the girls thinking in a fun and interactive way.

We were provided with a Tiggly bundle for the purpose of review, all words are my own opinion.
