This day I love.......

Discovery foods really do make Mexican meals easy.  We have enjoyed them in the past and so when they contacted me to tell me they had launched a new Instagram page and to celebrate they were running a competition, well I had to enter.

All you have to do is get creative with Discovery foods and create a Mexican meal.  Share the beautifully presented Mexican meal using Discovery foods with Discovery on their Instagram Page.  You will then be in with a chance of winning one of 10 prizes to the value of £25 every week for 4 weeks.

I created Cajun Pirate boats.

I followed the recipe on the Cajun Chicken season sauce, to make my Cajun chicken.  I then filled the Discovery Taco with the Cajun chicken and sprinkled on top some grated cheese.  I placed two slices of red pepper to create a mast and half a baby tomato to create a ships wheel.

I finished off by decorating the plate with Discovery foods Garlic and Herb soured cream, which I made to look like the whites of the waves as the boat sails along the plate.

I also made the girls treasure chests, which was a taco filled with peppers, grated cheese and a small amount of the chicken,  I then used another taco on top to form a lid, which looked like a pirate chest.

I would love to see what you create so feel free to tag me in the picture on instagram too, I am thisdayilove.

My eldest loves pirates. her current favourite bedtime stories involve pirates and if we play dress up she dresses up as a pirate.  I had the day off work today so after getting a few jobs done this morning the girls and I had an afternoon Pirate adventure.

We began our pirate adventure by digging for treasure.  I put some porridge oats and rice into our messy play tub.  I used food colouring to dye some of the oats and rice black which I then made into crosses to mark the spot where I had buried the treasure.  The girls then set about uncovering the hidden treasure

Once we had found the pirate treasure we needed to set sail on the sea.  I used blue and green food colouring to dye some water and off we went

The girls really loved playing in the water, my youngest in particular loved splashing around.  I kept adding bubbles in to keep their interest in the water play.

After all this treasure hunting the pirates soon became hungry, so we baked brownies

The girls and I had a lot of fun pretending to be pirates and hunting for treasure.  I think my youngest enjoyed licking the bowl clean after we made brownies.  A very busy, fun and messy day!

With my eldest daughter very much into pirates and pirate treasure she loved the idea of hunting for treasure. Off we went to Wentworth Castle.  The girls and I had been before at Christmas and we had such a fantastic time that I could not wait to take them back again, we were not disappointed.

My eldest was given a map which we had to follow to find the missing egg people.  Off we went

Easter Bunny house

Our first clue was at Easter bunny house.  My eldest drew the answer and we continued on our way

We looked high and low for all the egg people

We saw some sheep and a lovely tree

My eldest and I even climbed up a tree

There were plenty of puddles to splash in and even a castle to explore

We completed our treasure hunt and handed in our answers.  My eldest was given a chocolate Easter egg and my youngest was given a flashing chicken

As we had just experienced hail, snow, blizzard snow, high winds, and rain we decided to stay in doors to warm up and do some of the craft activities

 Easter craft

My eldest not so long ago had a balloon dog, sadly balloon dog came to an end due to the sharp teeth of a now 10 month old.  Today at the Easter activities a lady was making balloon animals.  I have to say I have never met a lady so talented at balloon modelling.  She made my eldest a balloon bee.  Balloon bee then came every where

After all the craft, exploring and treasure hunt there was only one thing left to do, play at the park

I have had such a lovely day with the girls and it was really lovely for the sun to come out in the afternoon.

Of course it would not be Easter without a glimpse of the Easter bunny

My eldest was feeling much better today and she is no longer contagious.  I decided it was about time we went out of the house and that we would go on a treasure hunt.  We ventured into our local village, not far but just enough to get the girls out and about.

First item of treasure on our list was of course some chocolate.  We went into the local supermarket and I had my eldest help me look for the chocolate.  She had so much fun and was so pleased when we picked up some milk chocolate buttons.  We continued our treasure hunt round the supermarket with her looking for each item on the list.

After the supermarket, our treasure hunt took us to the local charity shop.  We were looking for some items to put into the girls lets pretend box.  My eldest found a couple of bracelets she liked for her let's pretend box and then we went into the Children's section of the charity shop.  It was like an Aladdin's cave of treasure for her.  So many toys, she loved it.

One item stood out for her and that was a doll's car seat.  I wanted to get her one for Christmas but was unable to.  This car seat was £1.50, bargain.  I agreed that because she had been such a brave girl whilst she was poorly that I would get her the car seat.  Over the moon might be an understatement and she spent the rest of the day carrying it around.

When her Dad came home from work and asked her what she had done today she replied 'On a treasure hunt Daddy', Daddy asked what did she find and she replied 'Treasure, Chocolate and a baby seat'
