This day I love.......

A little while ago we reviewed the Cosatto Hug which was installed via a 3 point harness.  Cosatto recently launched the Hug with isofix installation and I was keen to see how they would compare.  Both Cosatto Hug have great side protection and a deep padded seat.  As with all Cosatto products the Hug comes with a 4 year guarantee and a gorgeous pattern.

The Cosatto Hug was quick and simple to install when following the instructions for first installation.  Instructions are clearly printed on the side of the Hug for quick reference.

A great feature on the Cosatto Hug is the ability to control each isofix bar independently.  Each bar has its own button to press to release and therefore if one has attached and not the other, which is often the case, you can simply re release the unattached bar to get a secure fit.  The buttons are located on the front of the seat.

To help with installation the Cosatto Hug also comes with isofix guides.  These do aid installation and the yellow colour helps to make them visible in the car during install.

An additional safety feature the isofix installation has over the belted installation is the top tether.  The top tether adds an extra layer of security to the seat, particularly if the car was to roll.  Another clever feature of the Hug, which I have not seen on other car seats, is the roll of excess strap.   With most top tether there is a lot of strap left over which often gets thrown around the car.  As this is rolled and stays rolled it is much easier to store the excess.

The top tether also did not seem to take too much tension in order to be of correct tightness, I have had other seats in comparison that have left dent marks in the seat.

Installation was quick and simple to do and gave a much more secure fit in the car than the belted installation seat.  Both the belted and the isofix seat features good deep padding on both the head rest and on the sides.  With gorgeous patterns.

My youngest was very pleased with her new seat, however she currently weighs 16.5kg and is tall for her age [she is taller than her older sister].  I did notice that the harness did not appear to fit her correctly, it looked as if it was coming from below her shoulders.  The head rest would not increase any further in order to give me the extra height needed.  The harness and head rest move together to ensure correct positioning.  I could have done with just one extra notch for the head rest to get the harness level with her shoulders.

It is just about level in the photo but I don't think it would be much longer before it is below her shoulders.  This would mean she would need to be in a Group 2 seat a little earlier than I would like in order to ensure correct fit in the car.

Upon conversion to Group 2,3 you do get extra head rest height.

To convert involves removing the harness and seat pads.  The tricky part was removing the buckle, as I found it tricky to get the clip out of the socket.  However the rest of the seat was easy to remove.

The Cosatto Hug isofix offers as much luxury as the belted installation.  Overall though I would choose the Cosatto Hug isofix over the belted installation as I feel the seat is secured better in the car and is a much better fit.

The Cosatto Moova 2 is a Group 1 car seat.  I found the seat to be quite high in the car which gave the advantage of a better view out of the window for the girls.  The seat felt really soft and comfortable and has great padding on the sides and head rest.

Installing the Cosatto Moova 2 was quick and simple and took less than 5 minutes.  The light weight of the seat made it easy to position into the car for fitting.  The seat has a thin snug base which gives it a good fit within the car.

I found it easy to move the harness in order for them to be a correct fit with the girls, both are on the top end of the seat with them weighing 15.1Kg and 16.2Kg and of similar heights.  Instructions are clear and simple to follow and guide you through the process.  The instructions also clearly illustrate how to remove the covers.  The covers are machine washable so you can keep your Cosatto Moova 2 looking as patterntastic as it did when it first arrived.  This is a great feature for us as my youngest is very messy.

One of the things I love about Cosatto car seats, other than the great patterns, is the tummy and chest pads.  The tummy pads are lovely and high so actually sit snuggly under the buckle to protect in a crash and the chest pads stay in place

buckle on Moova 2

As it is a belted fit seat the installation does need to be checked upon ever use, as they do tend to work themselves loose.  My eldest also has a habit of unfastening them.

This is an easy to install Group 1 car seat that provides a great high base for children to see out the window.  If in need of a belted installation Group 1 seat than this would be a great choice.

I can remember the first time I saw a Cosatto Hug and knew I wanted to try one.  There was something about the Hug which spoke to me.  The car seat geek in me loved the side protection and the deep padded seat.  The Cosatto 4 year guarantee and gorgeous patterns also helped.

The Cosatto Hug was quick and simple to install when following the instructions.  Upon second installation you would no longer need the instructions.  I did struggle to get the second pin back in place but a little wiggle and it soon went in.

Cosatto Hug

In bright beautiful patterns the Cosatto Hug certainly is stunning to look at.  The soft padded leather sides accompanied by deep soft cushioned seat puts it on a par with a luxury car seat.  The Hug can is used with the harness and seat insert for Group 1 and without for Group 2,3.  There have been no complaints from either child with regard to comfort and from my own perspective no complaints with regards to safety.

The head rest is easily adjustable and in doing so adjusts the harness height.  This ensures the harness is always at the correct position based on the height of your child.  The head rest looks well padded and the whole seat seems to 'hug' your children into safety.

There are only 2 minor niggles for me, the first is it is a seat belt installation which does not give as good a fit as ISOfix [since we received our Hug there is now an ISOfix version] and the second is the harness does twist quite easily.  It is simple to untwist the harness but it does need to be done in order to ensure safety of your child.

Overall I do love the Cosatto Hug, it is one of the most stylish car seats I think we have had the privilege to review.

A few weeks ago I received some very exciting post

It certainly cheered up the miserable weather outside and I was Ooba excited to be asked to attend.  I love attending the Cosatto preview as they have such amazing and creative design ideas it is always a pleasure to have a sneak preview.

I counted down the days to the event and could not believe how quick they came around.  We began the event with a wonderful presentation and it was also really lovely to meet the CEO, who was so welcoming.

During the presentation we were also shown the amount of testing that Cosatto products go through, it was really great to see so much passion be put into the testing as it is to the designs.  Cosatto always delight with the little touches and it was clear that flamingos would be featuring in the new collection.

Before we began the walk around of the new collection there was of course the famous Cosatto slide to go down.  I loved that they now have giant cosy toes to sit in if you want to go even faster!

The new story bed seemed to be one of the most popular additions, and I have to say I had to keep going back and having a look.  It is very beautiful.  The Ooba also has a new addition with the Charleston, which takes it away from the leatherette but I think it is stunning in its own right.

My favourite design for Spring/Summer 2015 was the Hipstar, loving my denim this seemed to really stand out for me and would be a design I would definitely choose.

Also new for Spring/Summer 2015 is the Giggle 2.  Featuring improvements on the already popular Giggle travel system including

Chassis is now compatible with the hold
Chassis is now steel reinforced front housing
Seat unit now has four positions from three
New improved brake system

The Giggle 2 also features some of the new patterns, Moonwood, Pitter Patter and Flamingo Fling.

Also new for Cosatto is their new look website

I had an amazing day and would like to say a big thank you to the Cosatto team.  Now if only I could get the Spring/summer catalogue of the eldest who seems to be choosing her Christmas presents

Before I tell you a little bit about the Hootle and our adventures I just wanted to give you some basic statistics:

Ease of First InstallationVery easy to install first installation within 5 minutes.
Depth, Height WidthL: 63cm W: 53cm D: 46cm
Weight7.9 KG
Testing and CertificationECE R 44/04

I was surprised at how light the Hootle is to pick up, this makes it great for transferring between cars.  The Hootle can be used rearward facing as a Group 0+ seat, which you follow the blue installation.  I did not try this as my youngest daughter is just over 15Kg.  I followed the red installation.

Installation took a minute, which had me confused as I was expecting something more complicated.  So I installed again.  Double checked and worked out that was right.  I did discover that I was unable to install on my front seat because of the shape of the seat meant that the Hootle did not sit flat on the seat and I was unable to get it secure.

There is a small conversion which needs to take place on the Hootle to make it from Group 0+ to Group 1.  This involves changing the seat padding and harness straps.  The first time I attempted this I was in a rush and confused myself.  I came home sat down with a drink and wondered why I had made it so complicated earlier.  It was actually easy to understand.

The Hootle features on of the best padding around the buckle.  It is lovely and high up meaning it goes over the tummy and stops the buckle pressing in.

The Hootle features washable covers, an easy one handed recline and of course as it is Cosatto beautiful patterns and design.

Both girls love the Hootle, they call it the Flower car seat.  I am able to use it with both girls as it is versatile enough to accommodate their weights.

The Hootle has joined us on many adventures and for both long and short car journeys.  Both girls enjoy using the Hootle.  It is very easy and simple to install, but like all car seats should be checked for compatibility in your car.  As I found out it would not fit securely on the front seat of my car due to the shape of my seats.  The Hootle is well padded and has gorgeous patterns and is comfortable for a sleep.

My eldest daughter is able to fasten the Hootle but cannot unfasten it.  This is good as it ensures it remains secure when she is in the car

We have had a lot of fun using our Hootle and sang many songs.

The baby show has become one of my regular visits. I love to go and meet up with people who I don't normally see all year but we spend a lot of time talking on social media sites. It's great to catch up and hear about what the new products are going to be and how the plans to launch are coming along.

I was kindly invited by fisher price to see the launch of their new jumperoo. Both my girls loved their jumperoo and I was rather sad when I put it into the attic to store it. The new jumperoo has some rather interesting new features. Like previous jumperoo it is height adjustable, but now it also is length adjustable too. The jumperoo moves length ways too, which therefore encourage babies to take their first steps. Think of it as a mini walker only limited to around 4 steps forwards and backwards. The toys have also changed slightly and I must admit I miss the frog. It was clear though that the babies who were in the jumperoo were having a real good time and loved bouncing as much as walking.

I met up with some familiar faces too, but there also seemed to rather a few missing which was a shame. It was great to see Panasonic there for the first time who were showcasing their cameras and videos and their stand seemed to be very popular. Cosatto as per usual had one of the brightest and most welcoming stands and seemed very busy.

I suffered with diastasis recti with my youngest daughter and had a 5cm gap. This progressively got worse and I was told I would need surgery. Determined to avoid surgery I worked hard at Pilates and after 3 months my Dr was pleasantly surprised that I had managed to fix the gap and avoid surgery. I loved chatting with the ladies on the One Fit Mama stand as it made me realise I should have received better care to avoid this in the first place. Also to see how best too help ladies in a similar situation, realise that surgery isn't the only option.

The show felt a little smaller than previous years but it was still busy and there was still everything under one roof. The variety this year was much greater everything from cameras and videos to the lady trying to get me to adopt a cat and walking balloons. I still missed some of the regular faces but it was lovely to meet new ones. Perhaps next time I will even get to me Prof Robert Winston?

I was provided with a press ticket to the baby show and an invite to Fisher Price.  However these are my own words and opinions and I was not asked to write this post

About 6 months ago I was incredibly pleased to be selected by pushchair trader to be one of their living with testers. I have so far had the Cosatto Supa for 4 months and am thoroughly enjoying taking part in the living with tester program. If you would like to see how I have got on you can read about it here.

The Cosatto Supa has two forms. The first, the Supa, is what this review will cover and is a single seat umbrella fold stroller. The second, the Supa Dupa, is a twin side by side version of the single Cosatto Supa. I won't be covering the Supa Dupa in this review, as although I have seen them and had a quick look, I have not tested one thoroughly. The Supa Dupa does contain all the same great features as the Supa, only doubled and I have seen that the fold is the same as the Supa.

I unboxed the Cosatto Supa and was pleasantly surprised that it could be used straight away. The girls had to have a go. What I particularly liked was that the amount of waste was minimal and I could fit it into my hand, the box I recycled.

Supa waste

The Cosatto Supa is packed full of features. There is a cup holder which can be placed on either the right or left side of the stroller. The holder is easily removed and added on should you wish. This is a rather handy feature for me, especially when out and about. The Cosatto Supa has a large pocket on the back of the hood, which easily fits a packet of baby wipes. Often for quick trips out I don't take a bag and put my essentials in the pocket. The Cosatto Supa perhaps is also a technology pushchair, as it has a speaker in one pocket, allowing you to connect a device and play music to your child. This is great for those babies who would need white noise or a similar song to fall asleep. In addition to this the Cosatto Supa also features a pocket with a clear window. The window faces the child and the pocket is just the right size to fit an iPad/tablet into.

The hood is easily removable, and can be extended to provide additional shade if needed, the zip ensures the hood can be put away neatly. The Cosatto Supa has two separate handles, rather than the solid bar handle, which although not adjustable are at a great height. The handles on the Cosatto Supa are also really well padded giving a really comfy grip. I love the little details on the Cosatto Supa handles.

The shopping basket on the Cosatto Supa is rather large for a stroller and is easily accessible, although when the seat is fully reclined it can be a little trickier to get larger items in. The Cosatto Supa has a five point safety harness, which features padded shoulder straps. Both my girls enjoy sitting in the Cosatto Supa which must suggest the seat is comfortable for them. There is also a foot rest. A great feature is that the seat is incredibly easy to lie flat, and is suitable from birth, so can be adjusted whilst my daughter was asleep without waking her up.
Asleep in the Supa

I have been able to push the Cosatto Supa one handed, although not the easiest of things to do it is possible. What I really like though is that I have not yet found a terrain that the Cosatto Supa struggles on. I have took the Cosatto Supa even on the beach, I simply locked the front wheels and had no problems at all. As the Cosatto Supa is also light weight to push it is also perfect for out and about and nipping in places.

There are also some other clever features on the Cosatto Supa. One of which is the ability to stand upright when folded. This also means the Cosatto is easy to unfold one handed. It is also possible to fold the Cosatto Supa one handed. Once unfolded, the carry handle for the Supa is at just the right height for my three year old daughter to hold. She holds this as its ' her special handle' and it means I know she is safe when we go out.

The Cosatto Supa really does come with everything you need. Even a rain cover and cosy toes! What's more because it is a Cosatto you even get a 4 year guarantee. The Cosatto Supa comes in a range of wonderful patterns. The Supa is certainly super, and a great light stroller for everyday use.

the girls and the Supa

I have not been asked to write this post, but simply wanted to share my experience of the Cosatto Supa as part of the living with program.

I was recently rather impressed by the range of car seats available from Argos. I had never really considered them in the past for a car seat but there is a huge selection available to suit most budgets.

The Cosatto Zoomi really caught my eye. With the bright colourful patterns you would expect from Cosatto, it also sat within the mid range or car seats and I was eager to see how it would perform. Whilst I cannot do a thorough crash test, I can assess ease of use and padding available as well as comfort to the child.

The Cosatto Zoomi comes with some assembly, although simple to do, it involves slotting the back rest into the seat unit, it is worth noting. As this is a group 1'2'3 seat it will last until around 12 years of age. As a group 3 seat I like the high back which should offer some protection in the event of a crash.

Cosatto Guarantee Zoomi flat

The seat is intended to be used for us as a group 2, as my eldest has almost out grown group 1, she is just on the border and this seat provides the flexibility to do this.

testing the Zoomi

In any mode the seat is very simple to install and there are clear instructions on how this can be done. The ease of installation gives me confidence that in the event of an accident the seat will perform sufficiently.

back of Zoomi

There is also good head support and padding, although I have seen a lot more and a lot less. The Cosatto hug for example offers much more but is more expensive.

Zoomi head rest

The five point harness can be a little tricky to snap together but no more so than other seats I have tried. The harness can also be adjusted via a quick and easy pull strap mechanism.

Zoomi harness

My daughter finds the seat very comfy and will often fall asleep in the car seat. The downside of this is her head does seem to slump and I wonder how her neck is then supported in a crash. With an impact shield seat the head could be rested on the shield itself.

Zoomi

For a budget style car seat I am impressed with the Cosatto Zoomi, not least for the ease of installation and the high quality you would expect from Cosatto but also for the longevity of the product and its comfort for the child.

This post was written in conjunction with Argos.

enjoying the freedom and fresh air

Sunday

I began some serious training for the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge I am doing in July.  [I would really love you to sponsor me using the Just giving button in the top corner of my blog].  My eldest just loved the freedom of running around in the grass and generally enjoying herself.  It was such a beautiful walk.

eldest refilling the bird feeders

Monday

After work the girls and I spent some time in the garden feeding the birds and making sure they had plenty to drink.  My girls love watching the birds and are always asking to go and fill the feeders.

youngest eating 2 ice creams

Tuesday

If your older sister is too slow and is daft enough to come near you with her ice cream, then the younger sister will take it and eat both ice creams.

youngest reading books

Wednesday

My youngest is really into books at the moment and I can often find her either sitting reading to herself or she fetches a book to you and sits on your knee for you to read it to her.  I really love that she has an interest in books.

rainy day at Cosatto HQ

Thursday

The rain returned and after a rainy journey down the M62 I arrived at Cosatto HQ for a sneak peak at their #patterntastic autumn winter collection.  I shall be sharing this soon.  This was an amazing day full of cake and giggles!

my eldest and the cat

Friday

We seem to have a follower at my girls nursery.  Every time I park the car this cat appears and follows us to nursery.  My eldest really loves it and asks for the cat every morning and when I pick her up too.

finally youngest sleeping

Saturday

After a lot of unsettled and sleepless nights, I managed to get my youngest to sleep with only an hour of crying, normally its at least 2.  So far [touch wood] she is still asleep.  I am hoping it lasts as she is exhausted and really needs some good sleep.

When one of my favourite baby brands put out a tweet asking for bloggers to take a sneak peak look at their new collection I could not resist and had to attend.  I was super excited and could not wait, I think the promise of cake and a slide sent me a little over the edge too!

I headed down the M62 to Cosatto Head Quarters.  After getting lost on several one way streets I finally stumbled upon their building

saving the world

With the outside of the building looking so colourful I could not wait to get inside.  Cosatto recently came 4th  in Best UK Workplaces.  Everything is #patterntastic.  The stairs make you happy

happy stairs

There really is a super fast slide.  Which must be the best way to start the day.  Oh and yes the carpet is pretend grass, very cool.

super fast slide

Even places to sit down, chill and relax, are #patterntastic.

deck chairs

I was going to take a photo of the toilet roll, because even that is bright and colourful but decided not to.  With such a fun, bright place to work it becomes clear how Cosatto create such wonderful baby products with personality.

It was a truly amazing and #patterntastic day.  It was great to see where the inspiration comes from for different pieces and the thought processes.  I shall be writing a post shortly featuring some of the amazing new range.  Cosatto really are saving the world from boring baby stuff.

This day I love a #patterntastic day.
