This day I love.......

We are almost down to the finally week of the school holiday.  The girls are ready to go back to school and for some normality to return.  Whilst I miss the girls when they are at school I am also looking forward to getting my health back on track and to be able to tidy and give the house a good clean.

For the past week or so, we have been having a good tidy up.  Sorting through the school uniform to find what fits and what does not.  Making sure school shoes still fit, and school bags are in good order.  Checking PE kits, book bags and water bottles.  Those items that the girls no longer need for school or that no longer fit, but are in good condition we have put in bags for charity.

My eldest has also given her room a good clear out.  Her birthday is in August and so to make room for her birthday presents she has had a clear out of the toys she no longer plays with all ready to go to charity.

The girls are often told how lucky they are, and I try to encourage them to give to charity where possible.  I find it really satisfying having a good clear out and de-cluttering, and have even gone through my wardrobe to have a bit of a sort out, given that nothing fits as I am still much bigger than I was pre-pregnancy.

Oxfam had recently got in touch via Mumsnet, and so we headed to our local Oxfam shop to donate our items except it was no longer there! We did however find an Oxfam Collecting bank and so we gave our items in here.  It is a shame as we would have liked to have gift aid our donations.

 Oxfam says:

“The average household has a room full of clutter which they do not use. We’re all guilty of keeping completed books on the bookcase for far too long or cramming unused kitchenware into our cupboards. Well now is the time to be free. De-clutter to feel organised and in control.  Oxfam takes clothes, homeware, books and accessories that you no longer need and turns them into cash using our network of sorting warehouses and innovative recycling and reuse schemes. This well-needed cash, funds our work to fight extreme poverty around the world. Donations now go even further, with Gift Aid. This makes your donations worth an extra 25%, allowing us to reach more people in poverty. De-cluttering feels good but ending poverty feels even better"

When the girls return to school I will be going through and having a bigger clear out and am looking forward to freeing myself from stuff!

The Easter holidays have arrived and I am very much looking forward to getting out and about with the girls and baby.  We have lots of activities planned and my Mum has even offered to have the girls for a day out.

The girls have been trying some new products to help with our trips out over Easter. The Sneck is a travel pillow which attaches to the headrest using Velcro.  It is incredibly soft as it is filled with microbeads and it provides a great place for a child to rest their head without getting in the way of the seat belt or harness.  The girls also love the pocket so they can stash treats inside.  It is really easy and simple to use and gives the girls that extra comfort if they need it.  I can also see it to be useful on the plane when we go on holiday next year.

The Junkie has been a life saver and absolutely amazing. It has two cup holders, retractable trays, a 'tech mount' and a place to organise everything you need in the car.

The tech mount has been fantastic as it means we only need to take one tablet with us and the girls can share and watch the same film.  We fill the removable tote bag with things the girls need before a journey and then fasten the Junkie into the middle seat using the seat belt.  The Junkie really becomes useful after a journey as well as all the items the girls have used or their rubbish can be taken straight out the car.  We simply love how everything is easy to reach and kept tidy and that it contains everything the girls need for a journey.

The girls have also been trying the award winning BubbleBum.  BubbleBum is an inflatable car seat.  It takes less than 20 seconds to inflate by mouth and conforms to all EU and US regulations.  The BubbleBum has proved really useful recently as my Mum had to pick my eldest from school when I was in labour with baby.  My eldest had the BubbleBum in her school bag just in case.  It meant that should I not be able to get her from school she would be able to get in the car with my Mum or her friend and be safe.  It is designed for ages 4-11 so is ideal for my eldest.  It is perfect for those emergency situations or even for travel in taxis or abroad.

All items have been sent for review.  Words are my own opinion.

We had nothing planned for today and so we decided to spend the day in the garden.  Our garden was in need of a tidy up.  Having suffered from the blustery weather over the winter and the fallen leaves of Autumn it was looking a little sorry for itself.

The girls loved spending the whole day outside, except for lunch and the slight rain shower in the afternoon.  They ran around the garden playing with each other laughing and giggling.  Having lots of fun making up games and enjoying the fresh air.

My husband and I had the fun task of tidying.  We have a lot of trees in our garden and this means a lot of leaves.  On top of this the high winds have also blown down a lot of twigs and branches.  We set about tidying up, collecting the leaves and the twigs.  After filling up the entire recycling bin we had to call it a day but there is still plenty more to be done.

Whilst scooping up some of the leaves we noticed a little visitor.

our little visitor

A very quick decision was made to move him out of the path of two dogs, both who like to chase small things that move and two girls with very inquisitive minds.  I took lots of the wet leaves and moved them into a safe place, before moving frog to the new location and covering him in more wet leaves.

Hopefully frog will be as happy in his new location and be out of harms way.

It was a lovely spring day and am hoping the start of getting outside more

This day I love Spring is in the air

The girls have had a lot of fun today.  We stayed at home as it was raining and after several busy weeks and lack of sleep I needed a  rest day.  I decided I would attempt to tidy out my office ready for my return to work, the girls thought they would help me.

They thoroughly enjoyed themselves and it was lovely to listen to them giggle with each other.  I now have shredded paper all over the house.

This day I love having fun.
