This day I love.......

We went to sleep watching the snow fall and woke up next morning to a second snow day. School cancelled once again. Potty training put on hold and three children to entertain with no where to go. Our street had been turned into an ice rink. Not safe to walk on or drive a car on. Little Man wasn't too fussed about venturing outside and instead opted to build towers with the food tins.

We did venture out briefly after lunch but no one wanted to stay out for too long. The snow was icy and not as much fun to play in. J didn't seem to mind and was still as confused about where a snowball disappears to.

Whilst I got dinner ready the girls and Little Man decided to work together to complete the Ravensburger Paddington Bear Giant Floor Puzzle. The Giant Floor puzzle has 60 large pieces. Big enough for even Little Man to have a go at building.

He had a few attempts but mostly watched his bigger sisters put the pieces together. The pieces were bright, bold and really colourful. It is perhaps no wonder he was so interested in watching the jigsaw take shape.

Little Man loved the finished floor puzzle. He loved he could sit on it. He loved all the bright colours and patterns. He kept looking over at his sisters and smiling. I don't think he could quite believe what they had done. He was so happy. It was lovely watching the three of them play together especially given their age ranges I was surprised that something could keep all three of them entertained together.

Our question for the evening was would there be a third snow day?

The Paddington puzzle was sent for review, all words are my own opinion.

Sometimes things don't go quite according to plan.  Sometimes you just have to go with the flow.

The girls really wanted to ride their bikes this weekend and so on Sunday afternoon that is what we did, sort of anyway.

My eldest started off riding her bike but her sister, who had opted to ride her scooter, zoomed off in front.  My eldest really did not like this and started sulking.

What started off as a lovely way to spend some time together ended up with a sulking eldest daughter and abandoned bikes.

My youngest seemed oblivious to the fact and kept whizzing up and down the path on her scooter.

Sometimes we make the best plans and sometimes it just does not happen.

We returned home after an hour in the park.

My eldest seemed to perk up once we got back and we actually had a really fun afternoon.  I guess sometimes the girls just need a bit of time at home or playing at Grandma and Grandad's house and not the bike ride they think they need!

This day I love an unplanned Sunday

Little man was very excited for his first train ride and his first trip to London.  The girls were really excited to be going to London too.

The girls were really good on the train to London, they had their moments but that is to be expected.  We arrived in London just in time for our lunch before heading over to a top secret location.

We had been invited to a special preview of Marvel universe live.  The show has already been seen by over 2 million people and from September it will be touring the UK.  Feld Entertainment are the team behind the production, and it promises to be an adrenaline packed show.

Our superhero day began with some colouring of our favourite superheroes

The girls were then invited to sit on the beanbags to watch a short film about Marvel Universe Live

Marvel Universe Live is an action packed live arena show featuring all the much loved superheroes.  The girls were transfixed and have asked when we can go see the show.  Whilst the show kicks off the tour this September it does not come to Sheffield until January so we will have to wait until the New Year.

It was soon time for battle to commence, as the girls took on the roles of Captain America and Iron Man!

They both seemed to be really enjoying themselves and probably would have stayed there had it not been time to meet some of the cast members from the show.

Spiderman was lots of fun and had all the children laughing and enjoying themselves.  He had a mini spiderman school were he taught the children lots of spiderman moves.  My girls really loved it and have been practising at home

Thank you to the cast from Marvel Universe Live and to Feld Entertainment for giving the girls a Marvellous day out

This day I love a Marvel[lous] day out

We had a rather busy weekend.  My youngest daughter has had a growth spurt and is now the same size as her sister, which means we needed to do a wardrobe tidy out.  I always love a good sort out and the girls seemed to enjoy sorting through their clothes too.

This then obviously meant we needed to go shopping there and then.  A 3 year old simply cannot wait until Monday to go shopping.  We ventured out and luckily managed to find the things the girls needed.  My eldest had been complaining her school shoes did not fit so we also went shopping for shoes, and yes the girls also have the same size feet!

After we had done homework, spellings and reading we decided to make the most of the time remaining and spend it out in the garden.  The girls decided to get the see-saw out and had fun playing with it on the lawn.

After quite some time they wanted to do something else and sat pondering what else they could play with.

In the meantime the dogs were having their own adventure.  I have no idea what they had found but it was clearly under the plant pot.

The girls finally made a decision and spent the rest of the evening playing on the trampoline

This day I love making the most of the sun

It is a rare opportunity when we all get to spend time out as a family.  When Roxy Lanes in Leeds got in touch and offered us a family night out I could not say no.  Roxy lanes have recently launched Roxy Juniors which is especially for kids Sunday-Friday 3pm-6pm and Saturdays 10am-3pm.  This sounded a perfect treat for my girls, and with Roxy Lanes serving food it also meant we could make an evening of it.

My eldest was incredibly excited all day.  She has already decided that for her birthday she is having a bowling party, her birthday is not until Summer, so you can tell how much she loves bowling.  My youngest has never been before but she was picking up on her sisters enthusiasm.

We arrived at Roxy Leeds in plenty of time and made our way upstairs.  The girls eagerly handed over their shoes and put on their bowling shoes.  We were ready to bowl!

Roxy Lanes has 4 bowling lanes which are staggered in rows of two.  This gave quite a nice intimate feel to bowling and I did think at one point it felt like you were in a private bowling alley in someones mansion .

The lanes were knew when the girls were bowling so automatically put the bumpers up for them and the wait time for the pins to come back seemed really quick.  This made the game flow really nicely.  The girls got so excited every time it was their turn and did not want to leave the bowling balls in anticipation of their turn.  My eldest was incredibly happy because I had given her my bowling ball from when I was little and she loved using it.

I loved watching the girls bowl, each time they would bend down to watch the ball roll down the alley almost willing it to knock over the pins.  Every time they knocked over even 1 pin they would jump up and down with excitement and happiness.  It was clear to see that they were enjoying themselves.

Bowling is thirsty work and so as our game drew to a close the girls had a drink whilst choosing their dinner.  Roxy Lanes Leeds had a dedicated kids menu which had a similar choice to the adults.

Our dinner was Pizza which was home-made and the girls enjoyed it.  It was really filling so we ended up fetching some of it home.  Neither of the girls were complaining at this and wanted to eat it on the way home!

I am looking forward to returning when Thing 3 has arrived, as the cocktail menu looked fantastic particularly the Gin Garden Tea.  I also cannot wait to take the girls again as they loved family night at Roxy Lanes.

Thanks to Roxy Lanes Leeds for a wonderful family night.

We were provided with a game of bowling and Pizza in exchange for a post.  All words are my own opinion.

I love spending time with my youngest and we decided to make the most of a beautiful sunny day.  My youngest wanted to spend the day in the park and I thought it a great way to get outside and play.  We visited a new park to give her a new place to explore.  She wasted no time in getting to grips with the equipment.

Her confidence grew as she tackled the stepping stone bridge

She seemed to really enjoy just the two of us running around in the sunshine and exploring somewhere new.  I enjoyed spending a day with her and watching her confidence grow as she explored.

A wet and miserable day today.  My youngest really did not want to do anything but stay at home.  It took some convincing to get her out of the house and I am glad we did.  We took a short trip to the main library in town.  My youngest loved it.

The main library is much bigger than our local library, as you would expect and there was a lot of choice.  My youngest selected some books and we snuggled up in one of the corner seats.  We read the books together and she tried to read some of the words.  She has been making lots of attempts recently to sound out words and it was really lovely to listen to her.

She selected some more books and then started to read them to me.

Spending time in the library with my youngest was a great way to spend a few hours on a rainy day.

It was one of those days where the weather just would not clear.  It was cold and wet and very windy outside.  The girls did not want to go out and play and neither did the dogs.  Having just got back from our holiday, which I will write about soon, the girls were a little tired and not really feeling up to very much.  There was only one thing for it, My Potato head

Mr Potato head fun

We have a great collection of Mr Potato head accessories, and the girls love sorting through the box and dressing up Mr Potato head.  It was the perfect way to spend a cold day

I remember the day I got married.  It had been forecast snow, and I had spent every 30 minutes getting out of bed checking outside.  It was a beautiful crisp winters morning, bright blue sky, winter sun and not a cloud to be seen anywhere.  A really beautiful morning.

I can remember the morning my eldest was born, a warm summers day with a beautiful sunrise.  My youngest was born on a perfect Spring day, not too hot or cold a few clouds a slight breeze.  Memories like this will stay with me forever.

The Day That have taken a photo every day at Sunrise since Mid summers 2005.  Every day is unique and special and every image that the Day That has captured is unique also.  The images make wonderful gifts that will be treasured for a life time.  Each image comes with a certificate of authenticity and I love the personal hand written touch at the bottom of the image, to capture the moment.

I had a hard time choosing my special moment to capture but decided upon our fifth Wedding anniversary.  I don't really remember much of that day.  I had a selection of images to choose from and settled upon one which instantly caught my attention.  I find it really calming and relaxing and hope this is a reflection of the rest of our marriage.

The day that image

I am very pleased to be able to offer 3 readers 1 digital download from The Day That.  The digital download gives you the flexibility to choose what to do with your image.  Perhaps you will send to friends and family as a way to mark the birth of your child or create a thank you card from the day of your wedding.  Digital downloads from The Day That give you a way to create a truly unique gift.

Entry is via the Rafflecopter and closes at Midnight on 20th June 2014.  Good Luck.

Sunday

My youngest had a rough night with teething and spent most of the day catching up on sleep.  We took the opportunity to take a walk with Grandma.  My eldest loved picking up the dandelions and blowing the seeds into the wind.

Monday

Bank holiday Monday was also lovely and sunny.  I took the opportunity to do some training for the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge I am under taking in July.  I used our new BOB twin stroller which is, and I am not just saying this, amazing.  I was able to undertake all different sorts of terrain and both my girls loved it.

Tuesday

I was feeling a little under the weather and after a long day at work I could not wait to pick up the girls.  My youngest cheered me up with this smile.

Wednesday

I got the girls ready for bed and my youngest daughter thought it would be a good idea to empty the PJ drawer.  She then proceeded to put them all back before emptying again.

Thursday

I had a lovely afternoon with a great group of bloggers at the Next event.  I had to take this picture of an item in Next as its going to be my new motto for our Kitchen.

Friday

My youngest was no longer satisfied with using one spoon so she used two, one went in whilst the other was filled back up.  It was really funny to watch her.

Saturday

We had a lovely journey down the M62, not a word I usually associate with the M62.  We went to visit Lisa and her family to celebrate baby J first birthday.  The girls had lots of fun and it was a really lovely day.  On our way back we stopped at a service station and my eldest daughter had fun watching for her Daddy out the car window.

Sunday

We had another birthday party today.  It was my nephews birthday so we headed over to my husbands parents house.  It was a great party the girls played with their cousins at the local soft play.  My favourite moment though of the day was watching my youngest chill out with her Granddad.

This week started amazing.  The weather was beautiful, it was Star Wars day and my daughter turned 1 year old.  Sunday was spent decorating and getting the house ready for her birthday party and of course baking her cake, which took me most of the day

Monday - I don't think we could have asked for better weather for her party.  The sun shone and we spent the day out doors.  We were surrounded by good friends and family, and although some were unable to make it we still had an amazing day.  We had hired a bouncy castle and it was just lovely watching all the children play.

Tuesday - My week started to go a little crazy from here.  First my phone broke, a long story but basically if your phone goes in the toilet it no longer functions correctly and a new one needs to be acquired.  I had a very busy day at work, picked the girls up from nursery and dropped them straight off from with my Mum as I had physio.  I managed to only see the girls for a brief 5 minutes before they went to sleep.  This is also the reason why there is no blog post for Tuesday.

having fun

Wednesday -  Saw another very busy day at work.  I finally called it a day at 3am, although I have still a lot to do.  I decided to treat the girls and myself on the way home from work and called in to pick up a doughnut.  The girls really loved it and it was nice to spend a few hours with them before bed.

Thursday - After a 3 am finish, I had a 6 am wake up call from my eldest.  This seems to be happening most days this week.  My youngest is unsettled at night too at the moment so sleep is not happening.  When my youngest did finally nod off I had to let her have an extra half hour, which made us a little late for nursery but she needed it.

Friday - I was so glad to see Friday.  Another very busy and long day at work.  I had missed the girls so much this week that I was just looking forward to the weekend so I could spend time with them.  After switching off from work, I had 10 minutes to get ready as My husband and I had a night out together.  The girls spent the night at their Grandma and Grandads, which they loved.  My husband and I spent our night watching Eddie Izzard.  I am a huge Eddie Izzard fan and he was utterly amazing, but then I knew he always would be.  I really needed the laughter to end a very stressful and busy working week.  I laughed so hard I was in tears and my sides hurt.  I cannot wait for the DVD in November.

Saturday - The girls and I, along with Grandma, attended a Mile in Memory.  I was amazed by the amount of support for a truly worthwhile charity, The lullaby trust.  We walked and at the end of the walk blew bubbles.
