This day I love.......

The skies were grey and the dark clouds were drawing in on us as we headed to Bingley.  Not to be deterred we had wrapped up the best we could, and actually were excited about our day out with Wynsors shoes.  We had been invited to walk with Wynsors shoes in Bingley to celebrate the launch of their new outdoor range.

The girls were excited and wanted to eat their snack the second we set off, and feed all the ducks and swans along the way.  They had been given a very useful bug finder pot and some oats to feed to the ducks.

Our walk took us along the Leeds to Liverpool canal, and although the rain was coming down thick and fast we remained in good spirits as we took in the sights of the canal.

The route we took was not suitable for pushchairs so I had Little Man in a sling.  It was a little tricky keeping him dry, and he did keep trying to turn himself around so he could see what was happening, but he loved watching the world go past.

We stood and watched the locks fill and empty and the girls asked questions about how the boats travel.  The scenery and views were simply fantastic and I only wish I could have used my proper camera to have captured them.

It was a really beautiful walk and we are planning on returning when the sun is shining to make the most of the spectacular views and watch the canal boats go past.  If you would like to go walking on the Canals there is further information available from the Canal and River trust.

This day I love a walk in the rain with Wynsors shoes

The girls are showing a real interest in the minute in growing plants.  They were given a bag of seeds and are desperate to plant them.  This curiosity has expanded into how do plants grow, and we have been having fun exploring this.

A recent delivery of a rainy pot from Red Candy, has allowed us to explore this further.

We chose a blue pot for our rainy pot, but there are other colours available.  Everything needed [except soil, seeds and water] are included in the box and there is minimal assembly.

The rainy pot can be hung on the wall or stood on its own.

We decided to do something a little fun for Easter.  The girls know that for a plant to grow it needs a substance like soil to grow in.  However as this was a magic Easter plant we needed some flour.

Once full it was then time to plant our special Easter seed [small chocolate egg for us big people].

For a plant to grow it needs water and our special cloud helped us with this.  The cloud takes a maximum of 80ml of water.

The special rainy pot then casts its magic and rains on our plant, as plants need water to grow

The girls left their special Easter plant out over night for the Easter bunny to wave his magic.  Next morning when the girls woke up

Our Rainy pot had grown a special Easter treat!

The girls were incredibly impressed and are now really eager to plant flowers in our Rainy pot!

Thanks to Red candy for sending us a rainy pot for this post.  All words are my own opinion.

To say I have been a little worried about this half term would be an understatement.  Normally I have half term all planned including day trips for the girls, but this time things are slightly different.  Pregnancy would not normally stop me, but this time I do not feel up to venturing too far.  Baby is already 3/5 engaged and I actually feel as if they have dropped even more and so I want to stay close to home.

My youngest daughter asked today if it is going to rain everyday of the school holidays, I can see her point.  It has so far been a very wet, miserable school holidays and trying to find ways to entertain the girls is limiting.  We are now almost half way through and I wanted to capture what we have been up to.

Our NumberBundle boxes have been amazing at keeping the girls entertained, and a review is coming shortly

big or small?

We have had dress up fun, watched DVD and had a Maya the Bee themed day

bee smiles

We have even got the last few things ready for Thing 3.

bump and bed

Mornings have been spent taking it easy, which makes a welcome change from the normal school rush.  The girls love playing in water and love the chance to have a bath in the morning.  It also gives me time to relax.

daughter after bath

I asked the girls what they wanted to do during half term and one of the requests was to the local soft play.  I miss chasing them through the soft play, but they seemed to have lots of fun running around and even making friends!

play at soft play

Today however I think they had got a bit fed up of playing inside and I got the impression they wanted to ride their bikes!  Whilst we did venture out, they didn't stay out long as the rain came pouring down.

The girls are off to stay with Grandma tomorrow as I have to go into hospital.  I am really nervous about how tomorrow will go but I am trying to look at the positive, another chance to see Thing 3!

Half way through half term already and whilst the weather may have been rubbish the girls seem to be having fun!

This day I love the first half of half term.

The girls have stood longingly at the window wishing the rain to go away.  Whilst we enjoy playing in the rain, it was just too heavy to go out in today.  It was just pouring down and was freezing cold, even the dogs would not go out and simply wanted to sleep

sleeping dog

Instead we read story books, practised our spellings and even did our homework.  Grandma came over to see us and we decided a change in scenery was needed, so headed out for lunch.  A little afternoon treat and it helped to break up a very rainy day.

Hopefully the rain will pass soon and we can get out and play more

This day I love waiting for the weather to pass

When it rains outside a visit from a fairy is what is needed to brighten your day.  With sequins and ruffles the beautiful fairy arrived to cheer up the day.

Dancing in ice white tap shoes and shimmering leotard her grace and beauty was felt by all

She danced and smiled, waved and twirled.

Until the rain was all gone.  As the rain disappeared she took her final twirl and danced away too.  My eldest wanted the fairy to come back so to make her feel welcome she made her her very own fairy garden.

This day I love the day the fairy came to play

We received the dance items pictured from Dancewear central.  Items arrived well packaged and very quickly.  All words are my own opinion.

'Mummy what is wrong with the doggies?' asked the girls this morning.  Before I could answer they ran to fetch their Doc McStuffins Pet Vet Bag.

They checked his ears

The took his temperature [and no not like a normal vet would do, they put it under his front leg].  They wondered if a good brush would make him feel better

J even got a full makeover and body check

But they just could not find what was wrong with him, perhaps it needed a closer look

'I know Mummy' they said 'he just needs a plaster to make him feel better, that makes us feel better'

What was wrong with J and Spotty dog was quite simple, it was raining outside and neither of them like the rain.

After they had diagnosed J they packed up all their Vet equipment in the handy carry case for next time J feels poorly.

This day I love Making the dog feel better

Both dogs were never in any harm or in any danger, and neither were the girls.  The Doc McStuffins vet bag was sent to us for review, all words are my own personal opinion.

This week has simply been miserable so far.  The girls are wanting to play outside but then come in soon after going out because of the rain.  Today the girls took one look at the weather and instead of asking to outside they asked instead to paint.

To be honest I was rather happy with their choice as did not fancy another day outside in the rain.  We got out our new paint set that we had purchased from Ikea, one of those random purchases, and began painting.

eldest painting

We got creative making rainbow patterns, drew lines, numbers and shapes and just spent the afternoon creating masterpieces.  All this hard work needed refuelling and it was time for a chocolate treat

I cannot think of a better way to spend a rainy afternoon than with my girls painting and eating chocolate!

This day I love a paining chocolate afternoon

Cloud dough is one of our favourite activities.  I always have the ingredients in and it is quick and simple to set up, yet it keeps the girls entertained for hours.  Cloud dough is 8 cups flour to 1 cup oil.  You can add more or less to get the consistency as you like it.  Cloud dough has the property that it is powdery but you can compress it to form shapes, balls and even cloud dough castles.  It is great for exploring textures and building shapes.  Both the girls love it.

playing with cloud dough

Cloud dough was perfect for keeping my daughter entertained whilst it rained, but as soon as it stopped she wanted to head outside to find the muddy puddles.

We even met a couple of friends along the way

It was a rather wet weekend this week.  Lots of thunder storms and showers.  The girls are not ones for sitting still and were desperate to go outside.  The rain did give us the opportunity to get crafty and do some baking, but the girls love the outdoors and so every opportunity we took and got outside.

The great thing about rain is that it makes puddles and mud.  My girls love nothing more than splashing in puddles or squelching in mud.  I secretly love it too.  It is a great way to encourage them to play outside and get active by going on a walk to find muddy puddles.

We always manage to get out and get active no matter what the weather, we just make sure we wear appropriate clothes.  Although playing in the sunshine is much better.  On our exploration walk to find our mud we came across some beautiful horses, one came right up to say hello

I think it was secretly glad for some company.  The girls did manage to find their mud and some puddles, its funny how they always can.  Lucky for us the sunshine stayed out long enough for us to have a lovely walk together.

This day I love when the sun comes out again

Its been one of those wet and windy weekends again.  The weather has been nice and then turning in a split second.  I asked my girls what they wanted to do, but they could not decide.  They thought about it for ages in the shower

Thoughtful shower

Until they finally decided that they wanted to play in the garden.  We wrapped up warm and ventured outside.  The winter sun appeared as the girls laughed and giggled on the trampoline

winter sun smiles

The girls had lots of fun in the garden, its been a while since we have had a break in the wet weather and illness to be able to get out and enjoy ourselves.  My youngest kept watch from the castle.  She did not want any of the pirates to come.

on guard in castle

It was however too late, the pirates had sailed their ship and found her.  Ahoy! they cried!

Ahoy

The girls enjoyed playing their pirate games and then they spotted something on the floor.  Some very tiny foot prints.

tiny foot prints

I think they maybe from our resident squirrel.

The wet weather appeared so we had to venture in doors.  This however did not stop our fun.  My eldest wanted to play the farm game.  She has devised a rather clever method of playing the memory game.  She moves all the cards that are for her board closest to her board so she knows which ones to turn over.

playing games

It wasn't too long before there was a break in the showers so we seized the opportunity to go for a walk with the dogs.  Well we would not want to miss an opportunity to splash in the puddles and run in lots of mud!

This day I love Weekend Fun

Splash in the mudride rocking horseI want to go outside please

What a miserable week weather wise week 6 has been.  The only advantage to this weather is that my 3 year old gets to have lots of fun playing in the mud and splashing in puddles.  Although we also get a face like we had on Monday when its too late to go out and play.  The girls spent some time at Grandmas on Tuesday and my youngest had a lot of fun in her rocking horse.

sleep at long lastbond between youngest and our dogEldest and her new favourite toy

Would you believe this photo of my daughter sleeping was taken at 5.30am?  Why you might ask, well because from 11pm to 5.20am she screamed the house down and refused to go to sleep.  I was a little shocked she finally went and had to photo it.  My eldest received a new toy to review, Disney Princess Pets Palace, and she absolutely loves it.  I mean really loves it.  I was getting the girls ready for nursery and my youngest had gone to find our dog.  I found them curled up together just chilling.  They have a real bond together.

eldest on a toadstool

A brief break in the miserable rain and just long enough to find a beautiful fairy sitting on a toad stool!
