This day I love.......

I cannot believe that in a weeks time my eldest daughter starts junior school!  I can remember junior school.  Everything from lessons to the teachers and the games we played.  I was one of the eldest in my class but my eldest daughter is one of the youngest and celebrates her birthday in the school holidays.  As the majority of her friends are away we always try and go out for the day to somewhere a bit special and this year we went to Nottingham to see Paw Patrol Live.

It is rare that I can find something that keeps all 3 of my children entertained at the same time, but Paw Patrol Live managed this.  My youngest daughter at 5 is Paw Patrol obsessed so she was shouting and cheering along with the story.  Her face at the interval was an absolute picture, both out of excitement for the rest of the story and her processing how the first part of the story unfolded.  My eldest was enjoying the story line and the fact it was her birthday.  She was joining in and cheering.  The show was incredibly engaging and had lots of moments for the audience to participate in, I felt the show went rather quickly and it no where near felt as long as it should have.

Little Man was completely engrossed.  For a child that refuses to watch TV, unless it is a game show, I was remarkably impressed.

All 3 of my children left with huge smiles on their faces after a really amazing performance.  It was onward after the arena to a Paw Patrol surprise party for my eldest daughter.

She had no idea we had planned a surprise for her afterwards.  We had put up paw patrol bunting and decorated the main table with paw patrol decorations and table cloth.  There were dog themed cup cakes and treats, as well as Paw Patrol table ware.

Everything we needed for a perfect Paw Patrol surprise party.  We even had Paw Patrol goodies in our party bags, which of course were Paw Patrol themed.  All our Paw Patrol party supplies had been sent from Party Delights.

My eldest had the perfect Paw Patrol birthday, with everything from watching them live to a surprise themed party.  What more could she have asked for?

With thanks to Party delights for sending the party supplies and to Paw Patrol Live for sending us tickets so she could see the show.

My handsome blue eye boy turned one at the start of March, and in all honesty it has flown.  I wrote about those first 12 months and all the amazing things he does, but realised I had not wrote about how we celebrated him turning 1.  I can only therefore apologies to him, when he is bigger and reading this, that this post is a little out of sequence and also a little late.

Working from home has the advantages that when it is a special occasion you can take the time to spend it together.  Little Man was incredibly excited that his Grandma and Grandad had come to play, and that he had a pile of new toys to play with too!

We decided to take Little Man to the butterfly house.  It is a place I visited a lot when the girls were younger, but one we had not yet been to with Little Man.  He was captivated by the butterflies flying all around him.

He seemed to just want to take everything in.

All the wonderful colours and animals moving past him.  You could see his eyes concentrating on everything going past him.  He just loved it.

Little Man watched the other animals too.  Looking puzzled with the meerkats as if wondering why the 'dog' looked funny.  He did use his very able pointing finger to show us what he was looking at and tried to put it through a few enclosures.  The squeaking guinea pigs also caught his attention and he did touch one very gently.

After a lovely few hours it was time to pick his sisters up from school.  They were incredibly excited and could not wait to sing Happy Birthday to him, even treated to the Welsh version from his older sister.

Little Man certainly celebrated his birthday in style!

This day I love Little Man and his first birthday

I can remember my final year in Infant school.  The teacher, my friends and class mates.  The school routine and layout, I remember it all.  My eldest daughter will enter her final year of Infant school this September, she has finally caught up with her friends in her class and turned 6.  Even if for only a short while, this is something she has been counting down to, to be the same age as the rest of her class.

I don't remember much before the age of six, somethings but not a lot and no where near as much detail as after six.  This makes me appreciate the fact that my eldest daughter will look back and will remember all that is to come.  It makes me nervous in some ways, not that we will do anything different but more because I can remember being her age.

She is such a determined and driven person, incredibly competitive and strong willed [ I cannot think where she gets that from!] yet at the same time she is incredibly sensitive and loving.  Her desire to learn is growing each day, and she certainly has an observer learning style.  The bond that is developing between her and her brother is so incredibly special.  The girls often get mistaken for twins which shows how close the two of them are.

There could only be one way to celebrate her turning six and it was her request to go bowling.  In fact she has been asking all year to go bowling for her birthday.  My sister had come home for the weekend with her partner and it made her birthday even more special to have them there.

I had made the school boy error of leaving the camera at home, and realised almost towards the end of the game that I had no photos of the day, the best I have is of my youngest.

The weekend has been filled with family and friends, and packed full of all the things my eldest daughter loves.  I am so incredibly proud of her and often pinch myself that she is mine.  I am excited to watch her grow and create more memories for her.

This day I love Birthday weekend with family and friends.

We had been invited a few weeks ago to a Num Noms event with Bella Italia.  The date for the event was moved and fell on my daughters birthday.  I asked her what she wanted to do, if she wanted to stay with our original plans of having her friends to play for the day, or to go to the Num Noms event.  She chose to go to the event.

My eldest daughter was incredibly excited as I gathered her, her sister and three of their friends into the car.  I on the other hand was a little apprehensive of the prospect of looking after 6 children all day.  As it was her birthday I put all this to one side and braved the day.

The event was a perfect day for my eldest daughter, with face painting Num Noms style

Creating your own pizza and of course eating it for lunch.  Followed by a pink princess cake complete with crown!

Everyone joined in the celebrations and sang happy birthday to my daughter.  It really made her day and this was the first thing she told her Dad when he came home from work.  After cake there could only be one option, ice cream!  The huge selection seemed to have everyone mesmerised

Two hours seemed to simply fly past and it was not long before it was time to go home.  Unfortunately my youngest daughter was not too keen on this idea as she was having too much fun!

This day I love Double celebrations.

It was my beautiful youngest daughters fourth birthday and after picking her up from school she was really eager to open her presents.

There was one present however that she was really surprised by, a VIP trip to Disney on Ice!

The girls were in for a real birthday treat, and my youngest thought all the balloons were out just for her.

For her birthday she was given a very special treat of meeting her favourite Disney characters, Minnie and Mickey mouse.  She was over the moon and had a huge smile on her face for the rest of the evening.

After meeting Minnie and Mickey it was time for the show.  We took our seats and waited for the show to begin

Whilst the girls have been to Disney On Ice in the past they were delighted to see some new characters.  The show showcased a whole range of Disney characters from the old to the new, and each one was greeted with just as much enthusiasm as the previous.

The show also featured lots of new stunts and characters in addition to the very talented cast members.  The appearance of the crocodile made the girls jump!

The Disney on Ice show was celebrating 25 years and it seemed fitting that they ended with one of the latest Disney shows, Frozen.

My youngest daughter told me she had an amazing birthday and wanted to do it all again!  I am so pleased she had a magical fourth birthday and that she loved Disney On Ice

This day I love a magical birthday.

In the morning my gorgeous youngest daughter turns 4.

She is my partner in crime and we love our adventures together on an afternoon.

She has the biggest heart of gold of anyone I have ever known.  Nothing is too much trouble and she would do anything to make you happy.  Even giving up chocolate to her sister when she really wants it.

My youngest daughter goes to bed a threenager, and in the morning becomes a four year old!

Sweet dreams little one, I cannot wait to celebrate with you tomorrow!

This day I love the night before

Later this week my youngest daughter turns 4!  I cannot quite believe it to be honest, time seems to have really flown by.  She wanted a party for all of her friends from nursery so we headed to the local soft play.  The girls enjoyed running around with their friends and it was lovely to watch everyone having fun.

Little man also greeted us and had a good look around and what appears to be a think about his sisters party! It won't be long before he is also running around and probably chasing his sisters!

The afternoon seemed to go really quickly and it wasn't long before it was time to sing happy birthday.   This has to be one of my favourite photos of today, I just love how happy they both are

We all had a wonderful time celebrating her 4th birthday and would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came.  You all made her day really special!

This day I love Bank holiday celebrations

Today is the 29th February

When my due date was given to me as the 9th March, I was suddenly rather excited at the prospect that Thing 3 might be born on the 29th February.

I know there are many people out there who try their hardest to avoid having a baby on this date, but for me it is a special and unique date.  It is a date which means you become part of a unique group of people.  It does not mean you only have a birthday once every four years.

If you were to ask my youngest when her birthday is she can tell you the date but she has no concept of this date.  Instead she goes with the flow and celebrates her birthday on the date we choose, that is closest to her actually birthday.  This is usually the weekend before or the weekend after, when all the family can get together.  I am fully aware that as she gets older she will become more aware of the date but for now as long as she has her birthday in May she seems pretty happy.

My eldest really dislikes having an August birthday.  It never used to bother her until she started school, upon which she discovered her birthday is in the school holidays.  This then means lots of people are away and she cannot see her friends on her birthday.

I guess whenever your birthday is there are advantages and disadvantages to it.

Today I am 38 weeks and 5 days pregnant, it is the 29th February and Thing 3 has 2 hours left to arrive to be part of this unique club.

This day I love the 29th

It is no secret that my girls are big Disney fans.  I think if my youngest could have everything Minnie Mouse she would.  They love everything Disney from the films to the live shows and we are hoping that next year we might be able to take them to Florida to see the magic unfold!

My youngest daughters birthday is just around the corner, and with a baby due at any point I have been trying to organise her birthday celebrations.  Disney On Ice have a new action packed ice adventure visiting four magical destinations, and lucky for us one of the shows is on my daughters birthday!  Disney On Ice presents Silver Anniversary Celebration will be visiting seven cities in the UK from 16th March to 15th May and tickets are on sale now!

My daughter is going to love celebrating her birthday with all her favourite Disney characters, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck and Daisy Duck.  Watching the story unfold as they visit the magical worlds of Disney’s The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan and Disney’s Frozen.  Both girls are going to love singing along and I hope that they have 'I just can't wait to be king' as this is one of their favourite Disney songs.

I am so excited to be taking her on her birthday, it is sure to be a magical adventure and a magical birthday.  Fit for a princess and any Disney fan!

me and my sister

Happy birthday sister, I wish you were here to celebrate
I wish you were here to blow out the candles on your cake
I wish my girls, and Thing 3, had met you in real life,
and not know you as their Auntie that lives up in the sky

I wish you were here getting ready to go out
To see you smile and pull that pout
Another year older and another year gone by
I wish you were here and not up in the sky

I miss you sister more than you can possibly know
I wish you hadn't had to go
Love you forever and always
wish you were here to celebrate today.

Last year I reviewed the Book of Everyone and it made the perfect Christmas gift.  The person who received it really loved it and loved the little touches inside that made it special just for them.  The Book of Everyone now has many different options to choose from in addition to the original Book of Everyone.

The Book of Everyone Quickie - Requires no extra personalisation so it is perfect to create if you are in a rush

The Book of Everyone Romantic Edition -   romantic edition comes with lovebirds dedication page, cupid's arrow cover design, special personalisation pages and lovingly-crafted touches throughout.

The Book of Mum - With little touches for Mum

The Book of Dad - With little touches for Dad

The Book of Everyone Milestones Edition - Perfect for those celebrating a special milestone such as 21st birthday

The Book of Everyone for Christmas - This special festive edition comes with a Rodeo Santa dedication page and  festive cover.

All books are available in Digital £7.50, Paperback £19.50, Hardback £29.50 and Deluxe £49.50 and come with free delivery to the UK or USA.

In addition to the wonderful Books, you can also make your own personal snowflakes.  Now I have to admit this gets a little addictive.  You enter the name of the person you are making the snowflake for and it appears instantly, only the addition of a surname, middle name or initials changes the way the snowflake looks.  Using capital letters, spaces or other characters also slightly alters the design.  This means you can create some really interesting snowflake patterns.

Once created you can share via social media or have them made into a poster.  The posters are printed on a stunning 400gsm uncoated Spledorgel card, they are 30cm x 30cm and cost £14.95.  You can even choose the colour of the snowflake from a selection, making it truly personal.  When you do buy a poster a percentage of the sale also goes to Polar bear international who are helping to conserve Polar bears and their habitat.

I have to admit to spending rather a lot of time playing with the snowflakes, I love the different patterns they make and think the posters are such a wonderful unique gift.  Why not share your snowflake designs with me on twitter and Instagram?

Thanks to the Book of everyone for providing a code for me to make a hardback book in exchange for this post.

For Christmas each year I buy the girls a book each.  We love reading in our house and this is a present that lasts them for years to come.  The girls can tell you which books they got each year for Christmas, it is something they treasure.

I See Me are the leading personalised book company in America and are now catering for the UK.  I knew when I saw them that they would make the perfect book for my daughter this Christmas.  There is a huge range available from ballet, pirates and songs.  The book I picked for my youngest however, was the Christmas book
As I do not publish my daughters names online I have decided to use the images from the site.  However the book looks the same.

The book is a hardback book with a lovely glossy cover.  The images inside are vibrant colours with clear text.  The book can be personalised with your child photo on the inside front cover along with a personal message.  This gives it a real special touch and perfect for a gift.  When you personalise the book you can also add in extra names to appear on the pages.

I love this touch as it makes the book even more special.  We have added her sisters name and baby, which means she will always be able to remember the year we gave it to her.
I See Me is a truly special gift to give and one which will be treasured for many years.

Thank you to I See Me for sending a book for my daughter in exchange for this review.

This weekend we celebrated my Dads birthday.  The girls wanted to make him a special cake for his birthday something a little bit different and so we decided to make a warming Winter salted caramel tart.  There was however a very special twist, we would be using Monty Bojangles truffles.

We had never had Monty Bojangles before and were hit with a gorgeous luxurious chocolate smell when we opened the foil packet.  In the interest of testing we had to sample a few of the truffles.  They simply melted in the mouth.

It was soon time to start baking, we followed the recipe sent from Monty Bojangles and I helped the girls melt the chocolate but they managed most of the recipe by themselves.

Our tart did split a little and may not have looked the prettiest but it smelt heavenly

We attempted to make some chocolate marbled custard to go with the tart but it did not come out too well.  The girls got a bit excited with the mixing.

The Warming Winter salted caramel tart was perfect with a Monty Bojangles Hot chocolate

Monty Bojangles by themselves would make a lovely gift.  For something really special use them in cooking and make a really tasty treat!
